Entertainment center makeover in the makings!!

Hello, Hello! Hope you are all very well today.  I had a fabulous day with friends shopping at my favorite antique mall Sleepy poet.  I do believe they were pretty happy we came, as we all left with a little fun something.
In the meant time, I would like to show you a little of the entertainment center makeover.
Today, is not a great day for photos, so this is mostly snippets.

 New hardware {sash pulls from the early 1800's}
were purchased.
You may recall our color choice dilemma

After much consideration, and reading all your lovely responses, in the end we
decided it was not a great idea.
Our family room is full of color and really this piece would just be a big ole eye sore in a different color introduced in the room.  We did however spruce it up a bit.

These appliques I purchased at Lowes and Painted them black...then adhered them with the command strips.

I did get a few new things for the top of the entertainment center as well...

It all came together nicely, and quite reasonable with cost.

I can't wait for a sunny day so I can show you more...

Can you tell what I did to this pillow?
Yes indeed it is stenciled!
More on that later.
Thanks for popping over..
I will catch up soon.
XO

Head and Shoulders Green Apple Hair care review {$50.00 Visa gift card}

How fun to be given another opportunity by Head & Shoulders to review another line of their wonderful products!
Who doesn't like the smell of green apple?

Well I know I LOVE it and was very excited to try the new Head & Shoulders Green Apple Shampoo and Conditioner.
Of course the minute I opened the bottle, the ole' sniff test came into play.
Mmmmm...I just love the smell!
So refreshing.
Especially being winter and all, I long for some fresh spring and summer scents.
Head & Shoulders certainly delivered.

Mike and I were going out for a nice dinner alone that evening.
I decided I would try my new shampoo, with the fresh green apple scent.
* Now to lather up my hair.
I do not use a lot of shampoo, as you can see my hair is short, so it only requires a nickel size worth.
That was perfect in this case, and it lathered up wonderfully.

* Now onto conditioning my hair. Again, only using a nickel size worth this conditioner not only smelled great, but made my hair so soft and manageable.
After my daily routine of blow drying and spritzing, I could see instant shine results.
Not to mention, for the rest of the day I smelled the light scent of green apple.

Have I mentioned Healthy Hair Starts from a Healthy Scalp™?
Using Head & Shoulders advanced formula relieves scalp itch, dryness, irritation, and helps prevent flakes while improving hair and scalp health.
I have to tell you since using the Head & Shoulders line this winter, my hair has never felt better. Head & Shoulders shampoo and conditioner helps make getting flake-free beautiful hair even easier!
What I also loved about this line is that it is gentle and PH balanced for everyday use even on color treated or permed hair.
I would NOT want to mess up my new highlights, and they sure are shiny!
I was now ready to go on a date with my hubs!

Points of interest you may want to know regarding Head & Shoulders:
Head & Shoulders collection of soothing products promises to ease three scalp and dandruff problems: dryness, itchiness, and sensitivity. With 84% of surveyed scalp issue sufferers concerned about these issues, Head & Shoulders has combined the effectiveness of their HydraZinc formula to alleviate these conditions leaving your hair beautifully flake free* *visible flakes, with regular use. Up to 100% flake free.

Beyond leaving behind a clean scalp, the foundation for great looking hair, Head & Shoulders new collection goes one step further to excite and indulge your senses with fresh, naturally inspired green apple fragrance.

Soooooo...

Repurposed door mat

Hello everyone! Today I am sharing a repurposed door mat  diy project.
My friend Tami  from curb alert  originally posted about it here.

The girl is pure genius for coming up with this solution.
I have since found other upcycled door mat projects!
People are spray painting them white and using them as art work on their walls, in all shapes and sizes.

First off, do you know what this is?
ORNAMENT IRON COLD AIR RETURN VENT - ROCOCCO

Van dykes Restorers
{retail value $500.00}

This is a vent cover.  A lot of us have  the ugly white vents on our walls. They certainly are not the most attractive looking.  In fact, they can be an eye sore.

First let me show you what Tami did with hers...

She took her door mat and simply placed it over the vent...so much better right?

So I had to run right out and copy this idea....

Of course, I had to spray paint mine first.  This metallic copper was the perfect choice!

Ugly no more!
We just nailed  two small nails on top to hang the mat.
Cost of the mat, $13.00, spray paint $5.00.

Pretty awesome!
Thanks Tami for this wonderful idea and for sharing.

ENJOY the newbie party everyone.

MY GUIDELINES

*Blogging 6 months or less and or less than 100 followers.
*Would love for you to become a new friend of mine as well on google friend connect.
*PLEASE turn off Word verification, makes commenting very difficult, and you do not need it.
Blogger does a great job of deterring spam comments.
*PLEASE visit a few other participants, that is what you are here for!
*IF you find your link deleted, it is simply because you did not follow my simple guidelines.
*PLEASE add my link or button to your blog and/or post.
Please limit your links to two per newbie party.
thank you.
I would also like to mention, that we all should be watermarking our photo's.  Which basically means, add your name or blog name to each photo.  With pinterest on the rise in popularity, I see many pins out there with no name.
Do realize any party you link up to, gives people free reign to pin away, which is great, however, no name on the photo, no credit.  I always source out my features and I try only to feature ones with your names on them, that is for your benefit. Even though the pin may lead back to my original post, people would clearly see it was your work, with a link back to YOUR blog.

In today's challenging times we are all looking to save money and diy are big now.

Cottage Beach house did a gorgeous Pottery barn shelf knock off.
I love her displays too, very pretty.

I loved Jan from Adventures in  Southern Junkin's Floral turn over knock off..
so simple, yet makes such a statement.

Bliss Ranch got super creative, and really thought outside the box on this one...

This is such a pretty vignette, I could just look at it all day!

L O V E Debra from Common ground's craft. It really turned out super.
Better than the original. In fact all of your copies were better than the originals in my humble opinion!

Next, Sharon from Mrs. Shines class did a gorgeous job on her rendition of the the original...

This truly looks like a magazine photo!

Looking your best!

Hey everyone! I hope today you are all feeling your best and of course looking your best!

Well.....
if you are like me at this moment I am sitting in my PJ's still blogging.  However, I do plan on getting up, getting out there and doing a little Zumba today.
My exercise routine fell to the wayside in 2011.  I promised myself, I would do better in 2012.
Seems the older we get the harder it is to just Commit.
We can do it, we just choose not to.

How about you?
What are the good habits you are committing to developing?

{source}

What are your beauty resolutions this year?
For me during the winter months I moisturize a lot more.
Taking care of my skin has always been very important to me.
My Mom started me young on that regime, and I am glad she did.
I do plan on visiting the dermatologist this year as well.
Just for a skin check, and to also ask about some derma-brasion.

How do you plan to shake up and streamline your routine?

This is a good question...my first thoughts were I need to break up my routine.
I am a creature of habit and once I get in a routine I tend to stick with it. Whether good or bad, I stick with whatever mode I am in.
My current  routine has been to blog all morning instead of get out there and get active.
Not good! I have the butt to prove it.

There will  HOWEVER, be a change, that I plan on sticking too.
I am going to take a few different exercise classes, ie. Kettle ball, custom cuts, etc.
Most importantly, to stop snacking at the computer.  I have more crumbs around my desk than the kids make in a week around the counter. And believe me, my younger son points that out to me.
I try to hide the bags when they come up. I get busted though.

So tell me a little bit about you, your plans on changing, or what is working for you now!! We would love to hear it.

Thank you Blogher for the opportunity to share a little about me, and my plans to be a better me.

Home tour feature {rustic log cabin}

So excited to share my first home tour!  When I did my survey back in the beginning of January, it really gave me insight as to what my friends/followers like to see on my blog.
Although, not too much was going to change, I wanted to incorporate some new things to share.

Welcome Dawn from Creative cain.
Welcome to our Log Home!!

Located at Creative Cain Cabin
I am so excited and honored to be participating in Debbie's home tour edition.
Debbie has been a great blogging friend and has helped me with my blog every step of the way.
***Thanks Debbie***
This tour may be a little different for some of you, our home is not the conventional home that most have.  It took my family (all three of us) 5 years of hard work to build, and the best thing about it, is we paid cash and have no mortgage.  Yes, it can be done if you are willing to not have instant gratification.

On with the tour....

The Front Porch of the Cabin with more photos here

A white kitchen, with black concrete counter-tops that we did ourselves.

You can see more kitchen photos Here.

An old library table used as a dining table along with the library chairs.

The living room furniture is all slip-covered and can be changed out or washed at any time, making it one of my favorite things about this room.

More living room photos can be seen Here.

The master bedroom is in the loft of our home and is a huge space with a sitting room an all.

You can see more of this room Here.

There's many more area to explore at the cabin.  So drop by and take take a Tour of our Environmental Friendly home.

Thanks for looking and a special thanks to Debbie for having me.

Enjoy!!

Thank you Dawn for having us over to your lovely home.
If you are not familiar with Dawn's blog, head on over, she is beautiful, and very talented too!

Valentine Mantel, Family room of Love...

Hi to all  you lovelies! Today I am sharing my Valentines day Mantel.
FINALLY, the sun is shining!
I could not take pics until it was.
What I have discovered in my photography skills, is that I HAVE none, if the sun is not shining.
Suppose I need to work on that.

Let's start with my dollar tree pillar candles.
Mod podge graphics, slightly burned edges for that rustic aged look.

Graphics compliments of the graphics fairy.
I then added a little twine and some cute candy hearts.

I have had these Valentine dishes and XOXO's

Fireplace marble, has a little stencil love added..
easy to come off so no worries there, paper towels and windex does the trick.
Cute socks!

Nothing major, just enough to get the lovely gist!

Just a few things on the coffee table...
chicken feeder filled with candy hearts..
book embellished with a little glittery heart.

That's it for Love around here!
Enjoy your day/evening.

As always thanks for stopping by.
