I've lived in Virginia for about 9 years now, and I've found that the only thing that is worse than being a Yankee, is being a Californian! Now, in the south, anyone one who is not from the south is a Yankee, that much I have learned. When people here I am from Cali they look at me like I am crazy! When I was a teen we made a visit to Texas, the furthest edge of the south. When a cashier saw my dad's drivers license said California, she took two steps back and looked us all over and then said "well, you look normal" as though we should look like aliens. Needless to say we had a good laugh over that. But really, I love the south, people make eye contact, they wave when you drive past, even if they don't know you. In the south it is okay to smother and cover your veggies in a sauce so you don't have to taste them! That is awesome! I really love living in the south, and it does occasionally crack me up to hear people talk like the Civil war was just yesterday.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12248888041239177828noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7753991164004572883.post-74109738189398860542011-01-22T17:10:49.341-05:002011-01-22T17:10:49.341-05:00I loved this post ,one of my best Friends was born...I loved this post ,one of my best Friends was born in South Carolina ,she was even Miss south Carolina long ago ,this is soooo unusual to me as an Aussie we are not so much into beauty contests here! oh and by the way we don't say Y'all ,sometimes we do say You Guys (too much American TV) we do say Youse (plural for you of course),while it is considered very bad breeding we all drop it every now and then !<br />~Sharon~Infatuated with Homes and Gardenshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09809620440843729179noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7753991164004572883.post-65604637937080999692011-01-22T16:43:32.207-05:002011-01-22T16:43:32.207-05:00I consider myself Southern by the Grace of God.
