They did, however, use actual burlap bags. But this more modern version of yours would be ideally suited for outdoor use! So I say run with it and create some outdoor seating and decorative pillows for your deck and/or porch. They won't rot, and with a fill encased in a nice plastic cover- they'll last for a long, long time!
