Fall Garden tour

the Summer garden is a ghost. Now I am moving on to the Fall/Winter scene around here.  Not being a green thumb is challenging to say the least. I am hoping the Winter greens I purchased will last until Spring. They sure look pretty for now. Let me start with the Summer tour...just a few pics for ya.

I am loving Kale! It is suppose to be very hardy throughout the winter time.

 Taking the Fall scene compared to the Summer scene is a major difference.

 Leaves changing ever so slightly.
Now onto the front. Today Mike and I spent the entire day, trimming, planting and sprucing up.  I also put out just a few more Halloween spooky stuff. As I told you Alex is having a party, and I want it to be fun around here. The theme this week over at Funky junk intereiors....is shutters.  Let me tell you quickly our house shutter story.

 When we purchased this house the original shutters where brown plastic. Although they looked fine, it really was not until one day I saw these shutters on a new home some where else.  We were driving through this neighbrohood with million dollar homes, you do know we can dream. I noticed on one home these awesome looking shutters.  I said to my husband, I may not be able to afford the home, however I bet we can afford to get those shutters made.

 SUre enough, he agreed. Ironically, we found the same fellow who did the million dollar home.  We love the character it brought to our home. I have had people ask me if our home is NEW or OLD, they can't tell. Our home is only 5 years old. However, we have tried to create an Old world feel.
  I really want window boxes, but my husband said "why so we can display dead plants"..yes he really is a nice guy, however, he knows me all too well.

 I am thinking the birds are not going to be happy for the next week or so.

Garage Salen Party ON!

Mike and I love candles, love the ambiance they throw off, and as you know we love a lot of  Catholic, Spanish style decor. This recent piece really started with a 50cent purchase I made at a thrift store.  I think Mike liked the look of the aged brass. From there it sent him on a mission browsing through ebay for this very special piece.  Leave it to him to find them.
Although this score, may not be the "cheapest score" it was however a very good deal. Mike does his homework and found that these type of pieces are very expensive, they run from $500.00 and up.  We won the bid for $100.00, plus shipping.  This piece is MEGA heavy.
Let's start with the 50 cent piece.

 The pair of aged brass were a total of $1.00!!~ I really like what they added too.  Now onto the Altar candle purchase from EBAY.

Has a total of four saints, one on each side.

Looks great lit at night. Gosh, I am so over Halloween decor, HA, does that surprise you. Can't wait to tear it down.  Enjoy the Garage salen party. Have fun visiting with others.  I will have the link up tomorrow morning.

CSN Chair makeover

Hi everyone!!~ Hope all is well. I feel like I have not been on forever, but it's only been a couple of days. You remember the chairs I featured from CSN...well I sure like them a lot. However, there was just something about them, that was not me.  I am not much into wicker. I decided I would stain the chairs to a darker tone. Well that I did not care for either.  So the other day while browsing in Hobby Lobby I decided I would recover them.  Found this pretty, very durable fabric on clearance for $5.00 a yard.  Well that is all I needed so SOLD it was.

Halloween is right around the corner.  I have been busy planning and thinking of fun party ideas for my 13 year old's party. Last year was a big hit...this year they are a little older, so a bit more challenging! But HEY, I am fun so they will have FUN!!~ RIGHT????????? Well I hope so anyhow. LeBain autumn/Winter romance

     It all started with a project.  This pretty planter my Mom sent Mike and I a couple of years ago, it was filled with Gardenia.

 Spring/Summer look

 I added a little more bling to my candles. I had this stone string thingy..I think it was wrapped around a gift someone gave me. I repurposed it.

 As you can see I have a small collection of crosses.  The one in the middle is from Arizona.

 And there you see a pretty color change on the planter. Looks perfect for Fall and Winter in our Master bath.

 And you can see I changed out the curtain panels.  All of these items I already had. I love to recycle my decor and change it up. Always gets a new look, in a different room.

GARAGE SALEN PARTY HERE

Our trip to Roanoke VA

When George Washington was 18 years old, he climbed this wall and engraved his initials. They still do not know how he possibly could have done this.

My boys enjoyed exploring nature.

This place was a 2 and half hour wait. Turns out there was a VA tech game. It was unbelievable the people. The food was worth the wait. The experience alone was worth it. My boys had a blast up here waiting and playing.

We also snuck in a corn maze one day

Wax museum, this was creepy going in, I thought this was a real kid

Did a cave tour, it was cold and spooky, but fun nonetheless.

At one point during this tour, they shut off the lights...my youngest was panic stricken. It was spooky!

I love to get pictures of my husband when he does not know.....he hates to get his picture taken...not sure why...just look at this handsome Man!!~ So that is our trip to Roanoke..it was short, sweet and packed full of fun.

What a great little weekend getaway my family, friends and I had.  I did not share the thousands of pictures I took, but you get the gist!  It was gorgeous there!
