HI sweetie! Well, I met my hubby in college. It is a LOOONG story but I do really believe it was fate that put us together. We have celebrated our 42 (!!!!!) anniversaryu this past Nov.! It is hard to believe but I love him more today than yesterday and less than tomorrow! Congrats on your 15th coming up!!! XO, Pinky PS, loved the pics!
whoops, typo! Anniversary! LOL!
Wow, Debbie! How awesome that you knew right away that your hubby was "the one"! I met my husband on a blind date that I almost didn't go on! I had a very, very long dry spell with very little dating, and needless to say, I was a bundle of nerves! I almost backed out at the last minute! I tried to play it cool on our date, but I guess that came across as not interested! the first date didn't go so well, I was just so nervous. thankfully, we had our go-betweens looking out for us! By the third date, we were both smitten. We met 10 years ago this month, got engaged that April, and were married in August of the same year, on the beach in Hawaii! We still joke about that first disaterous date that almost didn't happen!
Donna, I almost backed out of our first date also! I stood at the top floor of the Education Bldg. at Tennessee Tech, watched him pull up and said to my girlfriend, Christine, "I can't go out with him. I don't know him! What if he cuts me up into a million pieces!" She replied, "Just go. It's a free lunch. It's not like you are going to marry him!" We had an awesome lunch and a hellacious first year of dating. He didn't know he needed me at the time!!! After a year, I straightened him out and then dated a year more. We got engaged on Valentine's Day in 1994 and were married 11 months to the day later! Our 15th anniversary is this Thursday! We try to do something special each year. On our 7th anniversary, we went to Switzerland. We lived in Germany so it was only a 2 1/2 hour drive. Our 8th anniversary was at the castle in Ireland that Paul McCartney got married at. We stayed in the haunted room he did the night before his wedding! Our 10th we came to Charleston! I had a brand new baby on our 11th so there wasn't a whole lot of going out that year! Now here we are at our 15th. We are going to a restaurant downtown called Robert's and maybe do a private carriage ride through town if it gets a bit warmer. I want to go see the new movie Leap Year. We will see!
Happy Anniversary to you Debbie! What are ya'll going to do????
Oh, Debbie, now you have gone and done it!!!
Our "lovestory" starts 41 years ago in Hayward,CA. I was such the "party girl" in those days, even went so far as to dye my hair black, and dawn the micro mini, black tights and boots for a party at Leonard's house. I certainly wasn't supposed to be there, as this was for the "rich kids". Linda and I were getting lots of attention as we were playing all of the kissing games, which only meant that everyone was "making out" with everyone else. This was a very big deal in those days, and rarely went any further????
My boyfriend was at Fort Lewis awaiting assignment!!! I truly thought that he was the one, but he had broken my heart multiple times. (and my jaw, one time).
There was this really cute guy sitting against the wall, drinking a Schlitz. Excuse me, in those days it was either Olympia or Miller's;
Who is this guy? I was feeling very bold and did my little strut over there. "Hi, I'm Sue, who are you?? "I"m Kris's younger brother. (I went to school with Kris). "Oh, I didn't know Kris had a younger brother".....
As it turned out, he was not a younger brother, but a much older brother. He was only there to buy parts for his Corvette, and got caught up in all the "kid stuff" and was totally enjoying the "scenery"!!!
That was Friday, September 13, 1968. We became engaged on Valentine's Day, 1969. Married on June 06. We just knew!!! And we still do!!!
Oh boy I knew this would be fun! These sound like Harlequin romance books!! Love it!!!~~~
I met my husband at the pharmacy I worked for part time. He was the store manager. I thought he was cute but he was going through a divorce and I didn't want anything to do with that. He came with 3 little girls too. I just ended a 10year relationship and really wasn't looking for love. One day while at work a customer complained about me for something and the manager (my husband) wrote me up for the complaint. I was mortified. He laughed about it then he asked me out...what ? I said yes. We kept things quiet for a while because he was my boss. Not long after we started dating I quit my job. I still worked full time elsewhere so it was ok. And the rest is history...we'll be married 16 years in July. I love him dearly. We are so polar opposits. He's the laid back, it's going to be fine kind and I'm the well...hyper, OCD, type A personality. It works though. We have been through everything and still going strong. We do try and get away for our anniversary but mostly it ends up during our family vacations. That's ok. We still have our alone time with a night out or two.
Well, back in the day, 1974 to be exact, a lot of local teens and older use to drive around through our area on the weekends. Just ride around through town and back out by McDonalds over and over. I was only eighteen and my girlfriend asked me to ride with her up to Buford. We lived in Norcross at the time. So I said o.k. and started riding with her sometimes on the weekends up to Buford. You would stop and talk to different folks and then go ride some more. Anyway one night when I was riding around I met my future husband who was riding around, too. Later he called me and asked me out and then had the nerve to stand me up. Well, you do not stand me up!! I knew where he worked and I knew his place of business was open even though it was Saturday so I went and sat in his office and you should have seen the look on his face. To make a long story short we did finally go out and have been together ever since. We will celebrate our 35th anniversary on 2-22. We dated almost exactly one year, but we were engaged in less than six months. We just knew. We usually just go out somewhere nice to eat, but twenty-fifth we went back to where we had our honeymoon, which was Disney World and stayed at the Polynesian. It sure was a lot more expensive the second time around. On our thirtieth we went on a Carribean cruise. Not sure what we are doing this year yet. Not a big trip with this economy this year.
Jemsmom, good to put a face with the person now. I saw Leap Year today. It was just o.k. If you haven't seen It's Complicated it is much better!!
my sister introduced me to my hubby.he was a military policeman when i met him.i had just survived and come out of a EXTREMELY abusive realationship!the rest is history! 12 yrs counting!!!!!!!
Well I am married to my High School sweetheart and we will be married 24 years in November. We got married when I was nineteen and two months after I turned twenty our daughter arrived, had no idea what I was getting into. But 4 years later that our son was born. Needless to say the odds were against us for sooooo many reasons. My husband is more in love with me now than when I finally gave into him and said yes to dating him. (the poor guy bothered me for over a year before I said yes). Well I guess love does conquer all. My daughter is a teacher and my son just started college, so we go on to the next chapter. The best advice I can give is always laugh at each other and forget about the small things they dont matter at all.
Thanks Dawny, that we do often in our house. My husband is the jokester....I never can stay mad at him for long...I have tried! LOL!!~~
Oh and we do not know what we are doing yet. We wanted to go to St. Martin as we did for our honeymoon. But now because of passports, economy, etc...we will stay in the US. We will be taking our boys as well. I think it is a family celebration!!
We had the best anniversary!!!! We went to Robert's of Charleston. It is a tiny place where they serve a set 5 course menu with wine. The food was EXCELLENT!!!! The fun part begins after the second course... Robert the chef and singer comes out and sings opera and Broadway tunes!!! He has an amazing voice! He even sang a Happy Anniversary song to us! It was just wonderful! Hope yours is just as special!
