Maybe I have figured this out now. I have been very fortunate in traveling to some very nice places over the years mostly through my husband's job. We use to go on trips until two years ago when the economy sank. I have been to Hawaii three times, Italy twice, San Fran Cisco, San Diego, Scottsdale, Az., Colorado Springs, Co., Alaskan and Bahamian cruises. The cruises were our own trips. One place I would still love to go is to the Provence region of France and rent a villa and shop some flea markets and eat!!

Yay Kim you figured it out! Wow I would love to do all that traveling. It is hard right now with the little guys to go out of the country, but someday my dream is to go to Europe.

We took a vacation every year up until this year. Due to the hopes of a lung transplant for my hubby we can't be but about 30 minutes from home. We have been to Canada a couple of times. Beautiful place! I'm with you Deb, would love to go to Europe.

I grew up in Buffalo, NY so going to Canada was an often destination for us. Now it is not so easy to go over the border. We have been to Chicago with the boys, and Arizona to see the Grand canyon....of course Florida and disney 1,000 times. We took them to the Falls one time. Exploring the Carolina's has been a treat so far!

one of my purses went to Buffalo as a Christmas gift. Hope "she" is happy there. lol. We have been to Disney world and Florida. Gone to Branson, Missouri a LOT. Love the Ozarks! Washington DC has a lot to see and of course Arlington was beautiful. There was a military funeral going on. You wouldn't believe how quite it was.

Hey Deb, I lived in Winston Salem when I was a toddler in an apartment and I remember it snowing there one year and I had a big brown snow suit on and went on my first downhill sled ride. I was born in Greensboro. See I am a Carolina girl. Use to visit both sets of grandparents there yearly or twice yearly, but they have all passed on. Those were the days.

Something about Winston-Salem I really liked, it is an old tobacco town, not much there. But what is there is really cool to me. They have the old way of life that really works for them, it was cozy!

I'd love to see a nice big waterfall. Its always been my dream. When I was newly married I lived near Fort Worth, nothing in the waterfall dept. there. Moved back to Wisconsin area at age 25. Been here since. Never travel far just to family in Upper Michigan. So a waterfall is what I'd like to see/ Thought maybe Vermont?

How about Niagara Falls? You can't get anymore water fall than that? It is a site to see once in your life time for sure!

I love hearing about the places all of you have been, but this old gal is happy right where she is--in Almost Heaven West Virginia! I think I got burned out on traveling in my before-retirement life. If I could snap my fingers and be there, it would be great, but I don't like long hours in a vehicle or white-knuckled airplane rides. I agree with Debbie's response to "Cleanfreak"--Niagara Falls ARE the waterfalls to see. I saw them for the first time with my "new" hubby when we visited his relatives in upstate New York. Pictures simply don't do them justice--they're AWESOME! If you prefer smaller scale, however, West Virginia has some of the most gorgeous (Blackwater Falls, Sandstone Falls, even Cathedral Falls near my hometown). Do I sound like an ad for the West Virginia travel bureau? LOL Glad to find your blog, Deb, and to be able to connect with some of the great people I've met through RMS!

Well Thanks "Granny" smaller scale with rocks and treed area is what I see in my head! Niagars would be nice too i can just here the deafening rush of water now. I see in magazines the ones that are way up high and narrow I guess thats my vision. michigan has some too but they are low falls. I think ill go online a see about leterature for W Virginia vacations. Seems the people there are awsome as well.

Cleanfreak have you been to Kentucky to Cumberland Falls? Smaller version of Niagara and not as overwhelming. A beautiful place to see with lots of nature trails. I have been to Niagara Falls and it is a sight to see. VERY loud.

I was going to talk about 'Southern' BBQ being different than 'Northern' BBQ. By the time I figured out how to create a google account, the BBQ question disappeared! This is my first attempt at blogging--maybe I overlooked it? Best of luck with your blog, Debbie!

Hi Margo2! No never have. Now that does sound like what I want. So anymore info on lodging food etc. things to do on a budget? I dont want to sleep in a dump but cleanliness is important! My husband gets a kick out me and my Lysol can and bleach cleaner whenever we motel a night. I used to be a maid as 1 of my 2 jobs way back and I tell ya, It would make ya sick as to stories I could tell as to some maids cleaning practices and what youd also have to contend with as a maid. I was a maid in the day and held up at gunpoint by night at a gas station 3 times it happened. Boy what youll do for a paycheck!

We still manage a family vacation once a year. We mainly head for the beach. Hilton Head, SC is our favorite place. My husband and I went to Vegas once and the Bahamas twice. Niagara Falls and Windsor, Wilmington, NC for my 40th b-day, Boston, Louisville, KY (my brother-in-law & sister in-law live there) We loved the finger lakes in New York. Mainly went for the wineries of course. Family beach vacations are the ticket for us though. I would love to go to Italy and Australia. Those are my dream vacations :)
