MuD RooM
SO WHAT IS THE MUD ROOM?
It's the room where the family enters first to dispose all clutter and (mud) before entering the home. It can also function as the laundry and utility room.
Today I was in the MOOD for posting my Mud room. And seeing it is the letter M for Alphabet Thursday hosted by Jenny Matlock, it was the perfect time. I had never heard the term Mud room until I moved into this home and the builder referred to it as that. It makes sense now, and believe me when I tell you, this room gets used often. Besides doing our laundry in here, we also bathe our little dog in the utility sink. This room is home of my once Rooster kitchen...it is now the Rooster Mud room!~ They like getting dirty anyhow, so they all have their MOJO on in there. They dance and sing when they hear the sound of Music to their ears....The washer and dryer is constantly Motioning!~
I will be linking up with a few lovely hosts this week. So please take the time to check their other posts as well. And a great big thank you to all you lovely hosts for hosting these awesome linkie parties!~

The number of roosters in there is huge! The rug made me realize how into them you actually are :)
The tulips made a world of a difference. Really, oh what fun it is, to do laundry there!
Thank you for the Tatouage design idea. I hope you'll remember that when you are to design my house ;)
As always it all looks lovely. I do so like the mural and will definitely check them out as you recommend them so highly. I would love to do something in my daughter's room now she is getting past the baby stage and loves flowers so much. Still, I imagine your idea of easy is my idea of extreme difficulty but I can try!!
Honestly it is just a rub on, with a small stick, I have no artistic ability at all, so this requires only some elbow work!
Your mud room is very impressive!!! Oh, the days of having a laundry room...how I miss them! I love the sign that says help needed, too funny!
You mentioned on my Big Lots post from yesterday that I should move the pieces closer together. Just to clarify, do you mean move just the little shelf closer to the mirror or move both of them down closer to the table? I'm so hasty when I hang things!!!
Now why do I have to take my shoes off when it is the MUD room??? LOL! It is all very nice! I don't think your cabinet top is cluttered at all and this is def a nice happy place to do laundry. I have those same pansies in one of my window planters that came back after this winter..I'm not about to pull them out yet! Roosters in the mud room..yes...appropiate! :))
Why do I have to take my shoes off to enter the MUD room? LOL! It is all very nice and I don't think it is overcrowded at all. Roosters in the mud room, very appropiate! Would you believe I have those same pansies in a window planter too? They came back after this winter and I just can't bear to pull them out. This is a nice happy mud room.
THat is so funny Sailing Simply....well because your shoes are MUDDY!!~ LOL....my pansies are on their way out, I get every bit out of them:)
Wow..Debbie, even your mud room looks good..My mud room is really muddy..
Your laundry/mud room is so pretty and clean and organized. Mine is a mess. I guess I need to tackle it. I thought that vine was hand painted. It sure looks hand painted.
Very cheery place to do laundry. I'm afraid I would spend too much time in there. But hey, if you have to do laundry anyway!
I'm loving the roosters but I have to say, those flowers make me feel like Spring :)
There wasn't a bit of mud in your mud room. False advertising!
Debbie, I love your Mud Room. I am soooooo jealous that you have a door to the outside & a window in there! Had one with my last house off of the back patio. We used to give the girls baths in the deep laundry sink when they were little! Could fold laundry & give them a bath at the same time :)
I love how light & airy it is & all of your beautiful roosters!
Your house is so beautiful. I haven't forgotten about the books for your son. This is testing week at our school. If you have time, go to Scholastic.com and look at the titles available for May for his age. I will order what he wants and he can spend around 12.00. That should get a few interesting books for him.
I did manage to pull together a lot of the computer programs for his age that he will enjoy. I hope you are having a great week.
Blessings
the mural looks hand painted...amazing! Even when you zoomed in for the close up...it still looks hand painted! Your laundry room is beautiful...it would be so nice to have a window to look our when doing the laundry!
Wendy
Thank you for the advice Debbie! I'll have to get some putty to cover up the holes but I'm definitely going to try moving them down. I usually hang things to strategically cover the nail holes from before but getting some putty will solve that:)
That might be one of the prettiest mud rooms I've seen in some time. Should prettiest and mud even be used in the same sentence? :)
Having such a pretty mud room like that makes doing laundry a little more enjoyable!! And you know I love those roosters Deb!! Martina
WOW It sure looks hand painted!!
We have a mud room but I sure would not post it! Yours is lovely! I might even enjoy doing laundry in yours! i love the
Tatouage design, it is so pretty!
Thanks Everyone, I forgot to mention, the mural was cheap...Martina thanks for always dropping by and your nice comments...I think you need to get on this blog wagon to share all your spectacular ideas and home!
You are so funny - I'm glad you think I am nice. You have nothing to be jealous about. The photo of the tulips with the blue sign, and the rooster plaque (I think it was the next picture) are so pretty together. I have never heard of Tatouage - need to check that out for DD2. Thanks for visiting AtticMag, and for your sweet comment.
Allison
Okay. You had me fooled by the first photo. I was thinking okay...this is a cool looking loft apartment. Then, I realized it was the side of your house. :-)
Thanks for the visit and for bookmarking me. I've done the same and look forward to following your blog. Love the mud room.
Awe!!! What an absolutely adorable mud room! I wish I had a room like that to do laundry in (it's so cheery and happy . . . and I think I might actually want to STAY in a room like that and DO the laundry!) Love it! Just stumbled upon your blog and so glad I found it!
What a beautiful mud room. Can you come decorate my house??
Found you on Treasures and Leanne's blog. Love your place:)
Leslie
Great mud room. I do not think the upper cabinets are cluttered, they look great. Does it always look so put together? Very pretty. BTW, you can not claim you have no artistic ability, maybe you don't do paintings, but you defiantly have artistic abilities, just look at your home. I am bookmarking and following.
Debbie- this is such a cheery, fun room~ I would actually enjoy doing laundry in this room!
I have seen quite a few mud rooms but yours in by far the best. Love all of the roosters.
Deb, thats so dang pretty.. You are so talented and I love coming here to see what beauty you've created.
hugs
Sonny
I wish I had a cabinet for my utility sink. It is just a sink of plastic that sticks out like a sore thumb. You have done a great job with your mud room!
I couldn't believe the vine wasn't hand-painted. It's so pretty.
My mom used a washboard, and she still has it!! She would love all your roosters. She has a lot in her kitchen. :)
I am a tole painter and totally thought that was a hand painted vine. Love it but of course being in Canada I will never find them here.
Your room almost...almost...makes me want to do the laundry.
I love the roosters!
oh i just love your cheery laundry/mudroom and it is so nice that the roosters found just a great space to livelove the window so light and bright .you for got to tell the girls they can go on line for the tatouage the girl is an artist she recreates her own artwork i wish you had a photo of the monkeys you did in your Fl home they where awsome:)
ps i vote everyday hope the girls dont forget to vote :)
What a cheery happy room to do such a boring job!!! I adore all your roosters. Every time I see a rooster, I think of you and Kim!
Love it! I didn't see any mud though. I think you are going to have to call it the clean room! LOL.
Thanks for following me. I too like your sunnyland. And it is all so happy and cheerful. Nice decorating. Thanks for sharing. today I was inspired witht that little washboard. Now It could be done up as sunnyside or even sunnyslope right? And I do love roosters. I have a couple I love myself.
love it. jo of sunnyside
Your blog is such a fun place to come everyday, so cheery and happy, I love it. Only you can make a laundry room so much fun! I LOVE the murals, I just put one up too, check it out...you are rubbing off on me!
Debbie, please come decorate my home! I wish my mudroom looked that nice! I might actually like doing laundry if mine looked that nice. Love all your colorful roosters! "No artistic ability" my foot! It takes artistic ability to create the environment you have created in your home and yard!
Oh yeah, thanks for the decisive answer on the baby linens!
~ Tracy
Debbie, your mud room is awesome. The roosters fit right in with the scheme of everything. The Tatouge is a neat idea. I've seen them, just never tried it. I was admiring your previous post of pics from outside your house. The outside looks wonderful. I love the touches of blue you added. The japanese maple is very nice, I've always wanted one. Your iron bakers rack from another post turned out fabulous. I loved the spray paint color so much I went out and bought it. I plan to paint a old iron sun I have hanging outside. I wanted to let you know I mentioned your give~away on my blog.. :) Michelle
Deb, your mud room is SO bright, clean, organized and cheery!!! It took me almost 20 years to get my laundry room decorated, it was WAAAAY down on the list of things to do but I love having it all pretty now. Love your tulips and pansies too. XO, Pinky
Debbie, I'm loving your Mud Room - we call them a Laundry Room here - or the room I dread going into!
Hey, I thought about you yesterday when I was in Anthro I saw this dress - it's so you with your giveaway! www.anthropologie.com (search Salty Seas Dress) - It's you! ~Marcy
For all the sunshine you bring us I have an award for you over at my blog
I would like a mud room. We improvise at our home and take off our shoes. what a bright and cheery space you have created! Joni
The mural looks hand painted!! I love it and will be looking in to them! I have been looking for something like that, thank you!
Hello there! I happened upon your gorgeous little blog!
I must say... I WISH I had a mud room! I think it would be so convenient. Yours looks quite cute!
I'm a new follower. ;)
http://www.gerberdaysblog.com
That is the prettiest mud room I've ever come across.Usually they are full of dirty wellies & Barbours!
The vine is amazing, imagine the work & the time you'd need to stencil something similar. I remember my Nana 50 years ago using a washboard very similar to the one you have.
~Maggie~
Charming, warm and welcoming! Really beautifully done, Debbie, but I'm not at all surprised.
Good Morning Debbie,
This is my first visit to your home and I find it quite intriquing!! You and I share a love for the same things--roosters, mainly! Because the farmhouse is so small, my mud room shares space with my office or vice versa. I love the mural technique and it certainly adds a lovely touch to your room. Thanks for sharing that with us.
Have a great day!
How cute to have the roosters in there! My mud room is way too small and crowded with shelves full of dishes, vases, etc. It is nice doing laundry in a welcoming space!! Love the tulips too!
I wish we had a mud room. I love the mural on the wall. I will have to check out that company.
Cool Roosters! You must really like 'em! That vine totally looked hand-painted! Cool stuff!
Katie :)
I could easily take up residence in that room. What time is check-in?
Loretta
okay, i want a mud room now. ; ) only if its as cute as yours, though!
your mudroom is beautiful but i didn't see any mud LOL :D
What an amazing room! I like that you made it more than just a laundry room.
I love your mudroom/laundry room. I wish I had a room like that. My laundry is down in the basement. (At least it's a walk out basement big windows and lots of natural light.) I love the tatouage on your walls! So pretty!
This turned out so gorgeous! I love the roosters!!
What a happy stop on my Alphabe-Thursday journey through the letter "M"!
Everything in that room is adorable.
And so happy.
It could almost, but not quite, make me like doing laundry!
Thanks for a mesmerizing "M" post!
And thanks for participating in Alphabe-Thursday!
A+
I saw something similar to your mural in Target and on another blog. That one is very pretty. One of my big 'issues' in my laundry room is that I have a utility sink w/ no cabinet around it (unlike my SC house had, :O( so I want to get one installed. Everything looks so clean in yours. I long for the day. My favorite thing in there were the tulips, but I also like the roosters. The ones on the steps are cute too & your outside flowers are pretty too.
What a pretty mud room - just when I could use some inspiration.
Boys... mud room... makes sense to me. Actually, though, your mudroom is so lovely; it would be a shame to muddy it. I love the mural too. I've never heard of that before.
Come on Debbie, you could serve tea in that 'mud room'!! LOL! It is so lovely and the roosters are presh!! Thanks for sharing.
~Holly
wonderful mud room, i think i would do laundry more often if my space was that cheery!
it is very very pretty!
It's GORGEOUS!!! I'm jealous..who woulda thought I'd ever be jealous of the laundry room..lol.
Anyhoo--found you thru Friday Follow so I'm your newest blog stalker now!!

Debbie-
Thanks for linking up with us this week, but really, your mud room is TOO PRETTY to get muddy! haha. I love it. IT's such a bright, sunny place. Have a great weekend!
-Jami
How pretty and cheerful! Now I'm thinking about my own drab, utilitarian laundry room. I can already see my husband's eyes rolling at me! haha
And that washboard - no, I cannot imagine actually doing the wash on one of those things! Between floor scrubbing and bread kneading and clothes washing, those ladies must've had some serious muscles!
I love laundry, seriously. Wrote about it for L last week. Your mud room is just wonderful. Inspiring ideas!
What a fabulous space! So bright and welcoming! Great job!
A very nice mud room! A cheerful place to go and get the laundry job done.
Oh I love your mudroom. I so wish my house had one. It just means the front hall becomes a MUD room! And the roosters. I heart the roosters!
Absolutely delightful! so pretty and cheerful! I jumped over from It's so Very Cheri's blog hop and am so happy that I did! Please accept my invitation to drop in at my place when you get a moment. I have become a follower and would be honored if you choose to do the same!
