Niagara Falls, NY...

Growing up in Buffalo, New York most of my life, it was nothing to hop in the car on a Sunday and head on over to Canada for the day.  We were just that close and going over the border was not so bad. Of course now, laws have changed and you need a passport or enhanced license.
Seeing the Falls in Canada is an amazing site to see. I have always known there is an American side to the Falls, however, we have never been.
We decided, it was a great time to do so. SIMPLY  an AWESOME day, that I would recommend anyone to do if you are in the area.

Little did we know we were going on an amazing little adventure, and YES, we were quite fashionable. We definitely are a silly family, and dressing in these poncho's just brought it out even more so.
This just may be my Christmas card for 2011~
Never heard of this tour, but it was reasonable at 11.00 per adult and 8.00 for kids.

When I tell you there were hundreds of seagulls ( I think that is what this is) there were hundreds plus. Just beautiful!
If you look closely you can see them from a far.

Skylon tower, this is from the American side.

Famous Maid of the mist.  I am too chicken to do this. You should see how close it comes to the Falls. Maybe next time.

Alex looking up at amazement...this was so much fun.  We actually saw a double rainbow.  I could not get pictures as we were getting soaked.

This is what Alex was looking up at.

That is my sis and her boyfriend and his daughter. I took this picture from above, as someone else was taking their picture.

Thank you all so much for coming along our two week vacation with us.  We sure packed in a lot of sites and food.  I have more fun famous food places to share.  However, first I must lose a few vacation pounds.
We are heading home now.
I sure will miss my Mom and sissie.
I am looking forward to catching up on all my blogging friends. I have to get some creative juices flowing too.
I am jonesing to paint.

Speaking of PAINT!~

Hi Debbie Dear! Oh, what a wonderful time yo must have had! I've never done this and it's on my bucket list! :)
You have the cutest little family and your boys remind me of my son at that age - being silly is their job. Your mom, sis and you look so pretty all coordinated in your black and white sundresses and it looks like you have on the same shade of lipstick! :)
Seems like you've been gone for more than a week.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

I had no idea you were form Bufalo! My mom is from there and we were just there a few weeks ago! Sadly i agree that the Canada side of the Falls is better. We did the American side as well this time though. My husband had ever been to the Falls and he loved it!

When I saw your first post in NY I was J.E.A.L.O.U.S.!!!!! That is absolutely my most favorite place in the world!! (Not that I've been all over the world, but I bet no place compares!) Last year we took a trip to Toronto and went to Niagra Falls and went on the Maid in the Mist! OMG, Debbie! It was fantastic...not scary at all!! It was more amazing than anything. I highly recommend it next time. To be honest, it was so incredible it made me cry....what a sucker! :) Anyway, glad you and the fam had fun...have a safe trip home.

The Canadian side is absolutely spectacular! I was too chicken to go on the Maid of the Mist myself. We did go behind the falls...you've probably done that. Seeing the amazing amount of water, in such force, going over was incredible and a bit frightening. Quite an experience! Had lunch at the Skylon Tower too and that's a gorgeous view. My ex was from Buffalo and his parents lived there until retirement. They had a cottage over in Crystal Beach where they spent the summers and the winters in Ft. Lauderdale. :-)

You, your mom and sister are a beautiful trio!

Thanks for sharing your trip ~ lots of fond memories for me. Oh, and by all means, use that photo for Christmas cards! LOL

Such great pics, Deb. That should definitely be your Xmas card and the one of you, Mom and sis needs to get in a frame asap! We did Niagra Falls from the Canada side a few years ago. Takes your breath away! I had a panic attack on Maid of the Mist. lol I thought we were way too close and engine was off. So scary to do with your kids right there. Every time I see a picture of that word just breaking over the edge, makes my heart skip a beat. So powerful. Safe trip home!

When I saw the ponchos, I wondered if you went on The Maid of the Mist. Don't feel bad, I'm just as chicken as you if not more so. I don't think I've ever even gotten as close to the falls as you have.

Have a safe trip home & by the way, love the pic of you, your mom & sister!

I live 20 mins from where you were! On the Canadian side tho. My family has done the Maid of the Mist and it is so worth it. Not scary, just wet. Isn't it just such a vision of amazing-ness? So much power. If you ever come back, promise yourself to try the Maid of the Mist. It's a really great experience. The view is like nothing you'll ever see again. Unless you do it again. LOL :)

I love to go there! Haven't been since the mid 90's though. We have been to both sides. I love the Cave of the Winds! We laughed so hard at that water spraying us...that was a lot of fun. Maid of the Mist- no problem! There has never been an accident or problem- do it!! They were doing a laser light show in the evenings, I wonder if they still do?
It is a spectacular place to visit!

I was a little scared to read this post. We're going to Niagara later this summer and everyone is telling us not to bother going if we aren't doing the Canadian side (I neglected to get passports). So I am glad to see that you had a good time. No way am I walking on that deck thing though!

Been to the Canadian side of the Falls several years ago. It is nothing but breath-taking, all that water and beauty, nothing to describe it but AWESOME! Went to the casino and had some fun. Looks like your family was having a great time. What better place to go when the rest of the country is sweltering :)
