Rooster decor! {modern to rustic}

Y'all all know by know how much I love Country French rooster decor!
Hard for me to pass one by without stopping.
Today while at the Walmart I spied this clock marked down on clearance for $11.00.
Totally not my colors though.  It was shiny black and this bronze gold color.
No problem, I can change that up!

Not bad, but not really my colors...
I like some things ( a lot actually) a little more colorful.

Nothing a little spray paint and craft paint can't fix!

First I spray painted the entire piece with the color pistachio by Krylon..
after that dried a busted out my craft paints, and hand painted the numbers and the rooster. Sanded the piece as well for that old distressed look.

Mr. Roo is happy now with some color!

I always like changing out the art behind the stove.  But it has to be on the cheap considering I change out often.
This was perfect for me!

I was going to look at the clocks while I was in Walmart yesterday and didn't! You did a great job on him, looks like he was meant to be that way!
I could always get him and spray him black and give the one I have to my daughter who is changing her decor like me:)

I am going to be doing a house "makeover" soon. I think I MIGHT be going with blue accents. Blue and brown look awesome together, I think. But I was worried about my rooster collection!! I have to spray paint them white. Maybe?

Wow! An amazing job making that clock look very old. I love the verdigris-ish finish that the final look has. The tile "frame" over your stove is the perfect place to highlight and change things out. I saw your post over at "2805" link party.

What a find and I love it. But, do tell how to you hang things on that tile. I have similar tile and would love to put something up. Not a clue what, but something. Hey, congrats too on the HGTV thing. I missed yesterday bopping around with the painters working here. So, I'm catching up before the Thai arrives.

Your creativity never ceases to amaze me! And the fact that you can take something from Wal Mart (where people like me, who don't have a lot of money to spend on home decor, shop a lot) and make it look like a million bucks is even more amazing. Thanks for the inspiration and for keeping home decor "real"! I love it!!!
