Word of the Year!~ Confidence....

I have to be upfront and tell you this was kinda difficult for me to come up with a Word of the year post for Layla's party.
The Lettered Cottage

{Source}
In fact, I was just going to skip it, because I started to over think it, and that is Never a good thing for me.
Then one day while snapping pictures of a recent project {DIY Coffee wreath} I just completed, the word popped in my head.
Confidence!~
• CONFIDENCE (noun)
The noun CONFIDENCE has 5 senses:
1. freedom from doubt; belief in yourself and your abilities
2. a feeling of trust (in someone or something)
3. a state of confident hopefulness that events will be favorable
4. a trustful relationship
5. a secret that is confided or entrusted to another
Familiarity information: CONFIDENCE used as a noun is common.

You see the term confidence can mean several things.  For me, it was number 1 that rang true in my head.  As stupid as this may sound, I never thought I could make one of those cute coffee filter wreaths.  That is why it has taken me this long to even try. As simple as it was!~ I mean seriously I have tackled bigger projects than that little thing.

I started my blog for most of the same reasons y'all did.  I did not start blogging on my own whim though.  I was encouraged strongly by many women on the decorating site RMS. You see, they gave me the confidence that I      needed!

{Source}

Some things I have shared have been miserable failures! I have shared, and you too have laughed with me, not AT me.  Well maybe secretly you have, but hey I don't know that!

When I first started blogging.....
I was  not confident in knowing much! How to join parties, how to link back, how to even create a good post or take nice pictures. You know,  all those fun things that go along with blogging!  I was determined to get it right sooner or later and not give up. I still by no means have gotten it right, but I am improving along the way.  My confidence is building.
Oh, and believe me, there was no where to turn when I was trying.  I knew not a soul along with me in the blogging community, and really had very little confidence to even go ask, someone I had perhaps admired. Fear of rejection I suppose.  I wanted to learn, and I wanted to grow, I became Confident that I could do it.

You see I am not the best of the best at what I do and what I share! But I am confident, I can learn, grow and be better each time. Many of you have been my greatest cheerleaders, and I can't thank you enough for taking this journey along with me.

I can only hope I have instilled and taught my boys these tools in life.  It is essential to have confidence in yourself in order to succeed.  One of the biggest regrets in life, can be regret of not trying.

Loved reading your post. Great word of the year. A friend asked on FB what word you'd like to live by this year and I chose Confidence too. I have a tendency to let my shyness and insecurities get in the way all the time. I'm so thankful for my husband because he encourages me to go out of my comfort zone and try new things. I hope that I am able to own confidence a little more this year. I'm new to blogging and it is scary. I was terrified linking to my first party last week. I was afraid I was doing it wrong, that no one word see my post, that they would think it was stupid, that I didn't give the proper credit, that the blog owner would delete my link for whatever reason. But through much hesitation I clicked the button and it was done. I've gotten lots of positive comments, many people have pinned my project, and in one week I've received close to 1000 views on my blog. It's crazy how much our insecurities hold us back, but it's even crazier everything we're able to accomplish when we just have a little confidence in ourselves. Thanks for hosting the newbie party and supporting us newcomers. It's very much appreciated. :)

Great post! Love your word for the year. I've seen so many word of the year posts, and I've failed to come up with a word that describes what I'd like this year to be. Maybe I'm overthinking things, too. Thanks for sharing.

Debbie,
You've chosen the perfect word for you. I think you exude confidence and inspire it in so many others. Your newbie party gave so many of us the confidence to start linking up to parties! I will be forever grateful to you for that. I selected the word "grow" for me, but I didn't post about it. I want to grow in my knowledge, grow our blog, and grow some tasty vegetables!

I love your word of the year. Confidence is something I tell my kids to strive for every day. I often tell them to fake it until they make it. If you look and act confident, you actually appear to the world as confident and eventually you will actually feel self-confident. The harder you work at something the more confident you become. You have to be willing to learn and grow. You are a such a great blog role model.

That is a good word to remember! I think we can all relate to lacking confidence from time to time. It does the mind good to tackle something that you had doubt with and master it.

It's a great word!

As for me? I'm not confident at all. I have horrible anxiety in most situations. It's one of the things that those who only know me casually are always surprised to discover, and that misconception always provides its own little line of tension.

Deb,
Great post!! Love your word!
Mine is TIME!
Time to do fun things that I want to do with the people that are the most important to me.
Yes, I guess you can say that I am fairly confident. I have learned with age to do what I think is best for me especially in my own home , and not what the latest trends are. So I am confident in what I do at home and after working outside the home for 33 years and dealing with all kinds of people and situations, I have confidence in myself!!

Hugs,
Deb

Thank you for letting me know that you thought some of your creations were failures because I am always confident that I can do something and then sit back and think, ick! That didn't turn out very well! Lol. I am sure that your items weren't as bad as what you thought. You do such a great job now and I am sure that you definitely have a lot of confidence. Thanks for giving that confidence back to us as well! You are such a great blogger and host! : )..

Debbie, you are the picture of confidence! If asked to describe (from what I know) of you, I would say that you are confident!!!

However, that does not mean that we always have confidence to do the things we want to achieve. I love this post....it is thought-provoking and very well written.

You *go*, girl!!!
