The YeAr I had the Chicken Poops!~
Lately I have been linking a lot of my home projects and find I am not chatting it up as much as I would like to. So I decided to talk about the year of.....Yes, as my son Jack called them....The Chicken Poops!~ ~ It was about two years ago. Now you would think as a child I would have had them...let's face it when I was a kid we all had them!~ NOPE not me, I had to be different!~ So one NOT so fine day in the Month of January, about 2 years ago, I woke up and noticed a little blister on my tummy. Did not think much of it, and thought perhaps it was from sweating, at the time I was doing a boot camp and really working out hard. As the day progressed I noticed a few more, but again thought must be a heat rash.
The next morning when I woke up,I felt very flu like, weak, tired, feverish the whole nine yards!~ WELL, I looked in the mirror, and YES it was horrifying, not my usual horror either!~ I had spots all over my face, then I looked at the rest of my body and I am covered in hives. I immediately called the Dr and they got me in right away. First thing they asked was, "Have you ever had the chicken pox"? Oh yes I said I had them when I was about 5 years old, so I thought. Well they where a little baffled and decided to test me for ROcky mountain fever. I was like what? What is that? I was scared to say the least!
- Rocky Mountain spotted fever is a serious, generalized illness that is usually spread by the bite of an infected tick.
- Anyone who is exposed to areas where ticks live or to pets with ticks is at risk for Rocky Mountain spotted fever.
- Rocky Mountain spotted fever is treatable with antibiotics. Without treatment, the disease can be fatal.
- Rocky Mountain spotted fever can be prevented by: 1) avoiding tick bites, 2) removing attached ticks promptly, and 3) getting early diagnosis and treatment.
This is what my back looked like, this however is not me...but truly it was that bad! My poor hubby never looked at me with such pathetic eyes...I think he was truly scared!
Again, not me, however mine where worse than this, double this!~So that is the story of my chicken poops! Did you ever have the Chicken pox? Do you remember? What about your kids? It is just not that common anymore, so it was an odd case for me! (So typical)

Oh, how awful for you, Debbie. I have heard that it is worse when you get them when you're an adult.
I had them when I was about five years old.
I can remember sitting in the bathtub, and having Mom coat me with some kind of oatmeal paste to help with the horrible itching.
I still have scars, but thankfully not on my face.
I'm glad there's a vaccine for them now. :)
Oh, I am so sorry. I have heard they are way worse for adults. I had mine in 7th grade which was odd during the early 80s. Bad, bad...like the pics you showed.
Yuck. Pink lotion potion was the trick. I have a few little scars, however.
When I was a baby my brother came down with chicken poops. My mom then put all 4 of us kids in the bath so that she only had to deal with it once. So I do not remember the misery. However as a mother I got to experience it 3 fold. Not fun. My two oldest girls got it during my last month of my pregnancy. They were 9 and 7. Baby was safe because I had them already....then when he was 3 he got them. I didn't do the vaccine because it was new.. but now I wish none of my kids had chicken pox. Unfortunately now we are all susceptible to shingles.

Oh my gosh you are hilarious...such a funny topic and get this....My mom said I have never had them either....both of my kids had them and I still didn't get them so the Dr. said that I might have had a blister or two that went undetected so I guess maybe I had a very mild case. But I have always wondered if I was going to get them again...sure hope not, don't think this ole granny could take that!
Chicken pox suck. BIG time! As a smitch, I remember all the Bible stories about "a pox upon ye," and was sure if you caught chicken pox, it would morph into small pox, whether you had the immunization or not. (Stupid nuns! WAIT! Stupid me: I believed anthing the Brides of Christ told me back in grade school. LOL!)
Seriously, though, I can think of two things worse than chicken pox, other than Rocky Mountain Fever (<-- Thank God, you were spared!): herpes zoster (shingles) and postherpetic neuralgia, both of which I've been dealing with since August. (<-- My second go 'round with this ouchy-crap. Oops! Pardon my Farkled French, but like I said, the varicella-zoster virus sucks. BIG. TIME.
Yikes! I had the chicken pox and they were bad...but I was young and barely remember...now I get hives that look pretty awful..I have some lovely photos.
oh gawd, I remember, I was 12 when I had them and it was so itchy and painful!!!
I had them when I was 22...AND 8 MONTHS PREGNANT!!! It was horrible! My brother and I never had any of the childhood illnesses as kids. I had them everywhere- inside my mouth, on my scalp, inside my armpits. And there were so many blisters-and I was so sick I thought I was going to die. And since I was pregnant, I was hospitalized. It is so much worse if you get them as an adult. Luckily, my baby was fine and I have no scars (which is amazing because I scratched them constantly).

I had them when I was a child ...but a few years ago got them again...at the hospital where work I had to clean a room for someone b/c she had never had them...at the same my neighbors five year old daughter had them and she wanted to give me hugs and tisses... so I figured whats the harm in that,I already had them...two week later I came done with symptoms like you described...I thought it was Imptigo(spelling)But the hospital nurse assured me they were the Chicken pox and that particular year she was seeing a lot of that.
Needless to say I got the rest of the week off, during primtime in the month of August.~Carol~
My two older kids had the chicken pox when they were young, and the little one had vaccine..
I had chicken poops when I was an adult too, but mine was mild. I'm glad it's over for you!
I had them as a kid. When one of us got them, the rest were 'encouraged' to spend time with them.
I did the same thing when my oldest got them and my youngest needed to get them. :)
Oh no!!! I had them when I was a child. My oldest daughter called hers chicken pops.
Then I had the shingles when I was a child too. The doctor thought it wa poisonivy and I was on a series of 7 shots. After day 3, they decided it was shingles. The doctor was still mystified as to how a small child got shingles. I still have scars on my arm and back.

That is awful! You must have gotten them from some child somewhere. When my youngest child had them after getting them from his older brother he was a baby and it was barely noticable. Hope he does'nt get them again. I am like Momma Fargo, I had them in 7th or 8th grade. I remember it well because I was so upset. I was supposed to be going to an overnight skate party (LOCK IN) and I couldn't go because I came down with the chicken pox. Luckily, I also only have a few small scars.

I had them when I was six. I did know a nurse I worked with that did have them as an adult and she said it was horrifying. She was so sick she was hospitalized.
Oh, that's awful! I had chickenpox when I was 3 years old, so I don't remember. My girls also had them, but they weren't bad. I have heard if you have chickenpox as a child you are more likely to get shingles as an adult. Hoping none of us do.
All three of mine got them. Each gave the other one the pox. So it was at our house for six weeks. The baby got the brunt of it last. She was nine months. The were under her hair and the moisture from her diaper was a breeding ground. No scares for any of them though.
I'm sure I did I just don't remember how old I was. Our son got them when we driving to go to Disney world. He was about 5. We stopped to visit friends in Georgia and I noticed spots on him. We took him to the doctor and sure enough it was chicken pox. He never got it real bad though. We never did get to Disney World.
Years ago when we were living in Dublin my sister and her family (then three children now four) came to visit us and two days later my sister came down with chickenpox. As she was only due to stay for a week she decided she had better fly home before things got worse. Yes, I know she was exposing an entire airport and plane load of passengers but her husband could not risk being quarantined in Ireland and away from work in the UK for several weeks. She made it through the flight without detection, then spent two miserable weeks living like you with the pox EVERYWHERE. Two weeks later her eldest son got it, two weeks after that his brother got it and two weeks after that the baby had it. Two months later life got back to normal!
I had it when I was a kid. I've heard that it is truly miserable to have as an adult.
I had them when I was in 1st grade. Very mild case, my mom didn't even realize it as I felt fine. She asked the teacher who told us it was chicken pox. I gave it to basically the whole first grade. Because I had such a mild case, I got them again when I was 16 from a kid that had them. That was awful. Luckily because I had already had them, I didn't have a horrible reaction. More than the first time, but hello.... I was 16 and trying to be cool! Not so much with scabs on your face!
Hi. I actually had the chicken pox when I was 27. I thought I was the only 1 to have them older. It was horrible. I also had it in January, the day after New years. They said that people didn't usually get it in Jan. So it's funny that we both had it that month. I never took pics of it. I kind of wish I had. I was out of work for a week.

i know how bad i had them they where awful now rocky mountian iam scared to garden i knew about lime dease i was tested for that because of arthrites
oh and i guess when you have had chicken poops later in life you can get schingls thank god you came out ok back when you where little they did not have the shots and the boys got the shots

That must have been something having them as an adult!! I had them as a kid and my sister got them twice!
You poor thing! I've never had them. As a matter of fact, our pediatrician refused to vaccinate my children until I was vaccinated against them first. So now we have been, all three of us, vaccinated against chicken poops.
Ooh that looks painful. My kids have had chicken pox but I cant ever remember having it.
thank goodness for the vaccine so our kids don't have to endure this~just glad that you came out of this with no impairments! i remember having them & just remember the horrible itchy feeling!!!
I have heard it is awful as an adult! I had them as a child- I was actually in the hospital being prepped for surgery on my legs when the nurse noticed I was popping out in chicken pox- they got me out of there...FAST! My three children got them all together- ages 10, 3, and 6 months- it was awful for my poor baby in diapers...
That's horrible!! My hubby got them when he was 21 and said it was the WORST! I had them as a child and only have one tiny scar on my back. Both the kiddos have had the vaccine so don't have to worry about them. Your to funny "there's a wrinkle in it's place"
I had them as an adult too! Pathetic. I had them in my first year of medical college. Severe lesions on my face, back and you name it. I still bear at least 3 scars on my face. It was awful and the glances from other students were more than pathetic.

I can totally relate!! I had chicken pox when I was 27..nightmare!!! I was convinced that we had bed bugs... but nope...chicken pox!! Awful!!
