OUCH!

Long story short! I hit Mikes BRAND new car pulling out of the garage ever so slowly....crunch! I always am very cautious to be sure no kids or bikes are in the driveway.  Well for some odd day yesterday....not thinking at all....I pulled out of the garage and I could not believe what I heard....It was pulling back up when I did the real damage.  My car has a big ole boo boo on it...and thank god for duct tape..that stuff really works.  I felt so terrible!!~ his car has a big dent in the front.http://thumbs.dreamstime.com/thumb_228/1201007307r6nD8z.jpg
I had to walk in the house and tell him
http://rlv.zcache.com/walk_of_shame_college_t_shirt-p235927560724919965yj4l_400.jpgBeing the kind loving man he is, Mike said to me " Deb I am not happy I will not lie, but Shit happens! You are not hurt, no one is hurt and the car can be fixed.... (however it is going to cost us some bucks) he did not say that, but that is what I was thinking the whole time!  I am not sure if we should put it through the insurance or just pay out of pocket.  My deductible is 1,000....I wonder if I will have to pay two deductibles...and then our insurance will go up.  We have never had a claim, but I know how it works we will get hit down the road. So please all you lovely ladies...tell me you have done this before!
So there you have it! I really messed up this time.  I begged Mike this morning to pull my hair, slap me do something to show me you are angry....he is choosing the silent treatment for now!~ This is my car, he is at work, making some money to pay for the damages.

P.S.  On a brighter note...I did my first video segment for the Oprah show try out....can't wait til it is finished so I can share it with you all.  It will be fun!~
UPDATE 101:  Talked to Mike, and he is talking...totally  cool and normal, YAY! I'm over it!!!~Did mention he will be putting some tape in the garage so I have some lines to follow....backing in and out....I think he should get some caution tape myself!

Well, I think you need to get out a can of your famous spray paint. That might help mend those wounds of the weekend. But, do us a favor and don't go near the car with it. I've made that mistake before...... Custom spray job on the car....icks...

Toodles,
Kate

I have done that. I backed our like I normally do and my (then) husbands truck was parked where I back up into and I just slammed into it! Crunch more damage to my car then his. Silent treatment is bad but it will pass. You are more angry at yourself...that I know!! Sorry :(

I think The Garden Bell is right. Get out the spray paint, but make it Band Aid color. Trim up the tape strips so they look all medically before spraying. Might as well get some style points out of this, eh? P.S. Mike should be declared a saint. LOL! And OH! OH! OH! --> Can't wait for your OH!PRAH video!

Hate to admit it, but I plowed into my son's SUV. I always look both ways as I back out of the driveway onto a cul-de-sac, but for some reason I didn't look to the left, where my son's vehicle was parked on the street. Yeppers, took out the whole right rear panel...and would you believe, not a dent in my Avalanche (tough booger). I did the insurance thing, got his SUV fixed, and all lived happily ever after! The End.

Gosh, I am the worlds worst back out of the garage girl! Hit the garage door twice and Tony's truck once. go figure?? We always paid out of pocket and didn't run it through the insurance because it was cheaper that way. Tony has all these gagets now in the garage for me to see better! LOL!
Well, on a brighter note...you'll never forget this Holiday :)

I feel your pain. I have done that too, twice. Except the first time I backed out of my driveway and hit a visitor's car. The visitor was also a state trooper. (it was his personal vehicle, but I still hit it!)

Debbie, too funny! I forgot to open the garage door and backed out right into it! 900.00 later to repair the garage door but nothing on my car, wow! What a ditz and I tried to blame the kids but that didn't work!
Soon you will all be laughing about this, you will!

Yes, I've causesd major damage--both to a car and a building--hehe..while I was trying to learn to drive a stick shift in a foreign country--uphill--with hubs standing directly behind the car and a security door coming down on my car...yikes!!! But of course since I didn't kill anyone I can laugh at myself now!!

LOL! I took my hubby's brand new truck to Jiffy Lube for an oil change. When the "girl" (of course) pulled it out of the bay, she ran it right down the cement pole. Huge scratch and dent all down the side. I was almost sick to my stomach when I saw it. I made them call my hubby, and even though he was not mad at me...ugh. I still felt like crap for the next week or two!

Oh you poor thing, I'm sure it's stressful but in all honesty, it can be fixed and nobody died. Before long you will forget it even happened. And no, I haven't done that yet but my hubby backed into a brand new mercedes at work one day so if I do smash one of his trucks, I can use his accident against him Lol!

Blogger One Photo said...

Oh no! Buy as your husband said, these things happen, it was a complete accident and no one got hurt. As for the insurance question, just take both vehicles and get an assessment of the repair cost on each first. If it is close to the $1,000 deductible then just pay for the repairs yourself - but if the entire bumper needs replacing and there is metal work damaged also then the cost could be higher so you might want to claim on your insurance. Hope that helps!

Debbie you have an Angel for a husband! The car will be all patched up and you'll all laugh at it later.. (maybe much later).
The lesson here is.. have your double garage completely filled with all kinds of stuff to be worked on, so that you just can't park in it. Then you'll be on the driveway with no one behind you, like me! lol
Glad it was only the cars that were damaged.

Hi Debbie,
Don't feel bad...when the screened porch and the front porch were being added on, I backed out right into the monsterous, ginormous dumpster the contractor had living in my driveway for 3-4 months. It's a terrible sound isn't it? We are all human so that stuff if bound to happen sometimes. My car was 10 years old so I only had to drive in a short while long with it dent before I traded it. Hope you get yours fixed soon so you don't have the reminder staring at ya for long.
Hugs,
Susan

Oh me, oh my! I have backed into a car in the driveway when I was a teen and I have backed into our garage door because I forgot to open it and that was a year ago or so. Hubby had to unbend the metal of the door. Still has creases, but life goes on. Glad he is talking to you now.

Oh Debbie!! That's the worst feeling ever :( So sorry!! I wrecked Mr. Treasures car a looong time ago when we first started dating. I had just left work and someone slammed on their brakes and I didn't stop OUCH!! That car was his baby!! I called him and through gritted teeth he said "are you ok" I actually think he snarled a bit at the end too. I was so worried about him that the cute old man I hit was soothing me telling me, "It's going to be ok sweetheart" I guess he was right, Not only did he "let" me drive his car again, he married me! ;)

Debbie,
Not only did I do the SAME thing to my sweet daughter's car but I also did it last week!!!! I called her on her cell and woke her up to confess..... And when she left the house a little later, she texted, "A LITTLE dent?!?!?!?" LOL

She's been away at college and I just wasn't used to having to watch when I backed up......

When he was a kid, my husband's house had a carport behind the house and a driveway that made a 90degree turn around the house to get to said carport. There was NO buffer between the pavement of the driveway and the brick walls of the house. Apparently his teenage sister cut the corner too sharp and hit the car against the corner of the house. Awww.... So they took the car to the shop and it was fixed within the week. When she was driving her newly fixed car around the corner into the carport - yep, did it again and put a dent in the exact same spot that was just fixed.
