So wHat is all the hYpe aboUt?

I have to tell you right off the bat....I am not a "designer" kind of gal when it comes to fashion. I do not understand why people pay so much money for designer things. In fact I have bought a few designer things, ie COACH bags, etc.....and have no desire to carry them...hence remember my giveaway? I just feel wasteful spending money on things like that.   Don't get me wrong I love fashion and looking trendy and cute, I just refuse to pay for it.  For one thing I can't afford it, but honestly even if I could, I still would not wear it. This leads me to this post.  Have you ever heard of David Pliner shoes?  Well I never had until a good friend of mines husband who is a big wig at Belk started to bring these shoes home for her, and they where signed by the designer.   Her shoes are very, very cute honestly they are, however,  I would not be able to tell though if they where David Pliner, or Off Broadway, TJ Maxx, payless, etc.... shoes, those are all the places I purchase my shoes from and they are 20.00 or less for a cute pair.  Here are some examples and then I will show you my Father in laws David Pliner shoes.  Let me know what y'all think and your opinions on designer shoes like this.
Little bit about David Pliner first:
From his days as a leading designer and retailer, Donald J Pliner continues to lead in the design and development of high fashion footwear. Always dedicated to creative design, intuitive comfort and quality craftsmanship, Donald J Pliner footwear and accessories are renowned for their innovative, influential style.

I would NOT pay $130.00 for these shoes! But that is what they cost. If signed I am sure more that that.

And this dress pair, very very pretty....guess how much?  $289.00! So I guess I just do not get it. Perhaps they are very comfortable.  I love me a comfortable pair of shoes.  The most I ever paid for a pair of shoes was $90.00.  Bastad clogs they are, and I love them and believe me when I tell you they will last forever...even the style will.  OK so ready for a good chuckle here....so sorry to my FIL I love the guy, but these shoes where horrible, IMO, however  he loves them so much.  My husband told him to click his heels three times and perhaps he would end of in Kansas......poor guy never wore the shoes for the rest of the vacation while we where there visiting.

Here is a pic of my FIL with Mike and the boys...I think Alex is in shock over the shoes...
And here is a picture of my new $10.00 pair of shoes....I know I am such a bragger!
Garage SALEN PARTY still going on, show me the GOODS!

Oh my!!!! Those shoes look nice, but I would never pay that kind of money for a pair of shoes. I can't afford it and I think it is a bit silly!!! I like Target and Payless shoes myself!! I do spend at least $100 on my tennis shoes as my feet are funny and when I jog, I have to have the right kind or I am in all kinds of pain!

Now, your FIL's shoes. Well, well, well, isn't he the dapper fellow?!? I am sure the boys got a kick out of that!!!

Your new shoes are cute!!!!

I also hate paying for it. I have some K-mart sandals and I buy the Mr. Roger's sneakers for seven bucks! I am interested in shoe-making. When I watched them unwrapping all those shoes in the movie "Marie Antointette" I got to thinking about handmade shoes...

I would not pay that much for shoes. That said now that I have feet issues I did pay $100 for a pair of TEVA sandals and I love them. They will last forever and I wear them all the time. So to each their own.

Oh I love your $10.00 shoes!

I love shoes and I will say that my most comfortable pairs are the ones that I have paid money for. (I'm not saying big money, like Manolo Blahnik money, but reasonably more than just $30 or so.)

Oh my gosh, your FIL's shoes are hilarious!!! I bet your boys have had their share of laughs over that one!

I'm a flip flop fanatic myself, I have about 15 pairs and they never cost over $20 a pair.

I'm going to put a post up about my latest dumpster find so I hope it's ok if I link it to your garage salen partay...technically it's not a garage sale find but the dumpster counts, kinda sorta???

Oooh, great find! I cannot justify spending the money either. And I won't on my kids shoes for as fast and hard as they are on them. Love T.J. maxx for shoes and the ones I'm wearing were $9.99 and are so comfy!

I have seen those shoes and way too expensive. I don't buy horribly expensive shoes either. I would rather buy several less expensive ones. To tell the truth his shoes look like something a pimp would wear. lol I guess he likes them though.

I will not pay those prices for "cute shoes" but I do pay more than I like for the most comfortable shoes in the world...Keen shoes. I am a teacher with bad knees and I have to have comfortable shoes, I get my Keen's at Sierra Trading and use a coupond, I pay about 50 dollars for 89 dollar shoes, but htey last and last and last!

Debbie,
I wish I wasn't so frugal and could buy a designer name brand shoe, but I just can't. I did find a pair of designer shoes at a consignment shop. When I got home I googled them and found they sell for $120! Wow!
Target and the outlets are my favorite shoe places! Glad to read I am not alone :)

OK girl your back on a blogging roll, now don't wear yourself out! I have never paid $90.00 for shoes so you have me beat! Now, you made me think, if someone could tell me they were more comfortable I would seriously consider it. I don't even care what they look like.

In the summer, I live in flip flops, most are really cheap, but I have one black leather pair of Clarks that I paid more for~ I've been wearing them for four summers now and they still look great. I couldn't care less about designer shoes, I'm all about the look and comfort!

I am a frugal shopper when it comes to shoes too! I love to shop Ross for shoes these days! I do have a few name brands I prefer because they are more comfortable..Aerosoles and Clarks to name a few ! I consider them worthy of paying a little more for but always look for a sale on them. Luckily I see these brands turning up at Ross now all the time. I'm guessing they may be last years styles but I really don't care as long as it's comfortable, cute and cheap! That's the three C's to shoes shopping you know! LOL! Now, I will say if your FIL likes those shoes, I think you should embrace them. They remind me of 101 Dalmaions! LOL!

The price of those shoes are outrageous even if they're comfortable. I guess those people have money to waste.

Your new shoes are cute, but your FIL's, :-) quite interesting!

I agree with you. It breaks my heart to pay more than $25 for any pair of shoes! I am not a shoe person like some women. My trusty tennis shoes work just fine for me.

I hear you sister! I love cute shoes but refuse to pay big dollars. I just walked away with 3 pair of the most adorable summer dressier flip flops, the kind that look good with summer dresses and skirts, for $4.99 a pair and practically danced all the way home. I think my very first word must have been clearance :)

So funny...the father in law shoes are too hysterical, love them. I also agree that paying big bucks for designer items can be so wasteful, I buy what I like and never pay a fortune for anything, even when I can afford to I'd rather not. Love your new $10 shoes, so cute! Thanks for making me LOL!

I'm with you Debbie.

I've never seen a Coach purse I liked. It's a status symbol to which I've never been attracted. The same goes with designer shoes. I have a couple of pairs of designer shoes, but I bought them on eBay.

Have a great week! La

Hi Deb - I've got to agree that those are some shoes your FIL owns- wow! My favorite shoes are NO shoes-ha! Never have been a designer clothes follower but I must admit to having a couple Coach purses purchased used on eBay. Love your blog and look forward to your adventures.

I could totally see my dh wearing some shoes like that just for fun! He had the hot mess green phat farm shoes one tine! EEK!

I don't get the hype either. To me if I paying for a expensive pair of shoes they better be comfortable. I can do tennis shoes but not heals. I won't spend more than 100. Then again I only wear tennis shoes if I'm working out and I may buy 1 pair a year. I do like those ugly uggs shoes that I said I would never wear. haha!!!

There you go showing your toes off for the foot fetish peeps! lol!!! I hope you know I'm kidding!

Love ya DEB!!!

My most expensive is the walking shoes by sketchers. I got those firming walking shoes at 135.00. They really do work though i have to say. I had a coupon through my husbands work so it knocked off a chunk. I wear nothing but tennies. Have one dress pair of shoes and after an hr, in them I am ready to retire them. I broke my arch at one time so tennies are about it for me. Just for work i gotta look presentable with something dressier. FIls shoes would make awsome decorating additions!
