Shake, rattle and let's roll! LINK UP!
These weeks just go by too darn fast! I have had NO time for thrifting, garage salen, ebaying, Notta!
Since my boys are back to school, I also like to spend time over at the Elementary school helping the teachers.
No worries though, I always have something around the house that I can drum up, that is worthy of posting for my party. I apologize for no features these days, again, time constraints....they are all so good besides and I always have a hard time who I will feature. I am sure I will again someday.
WHEN Mike and I purchased our very first home back in 1997, we were very decorating confused. We always had good taste, but really did not know what we liked. Our first home was a small one story, light pink contemporary Florida home.
We decided we would go with the retro look. Well we sure were unique at the time, as no one had that look (nor did they want it).
We would have fun scouring the antique stores for lights, vases, bar accessories, cannisters, you name it. We wound up having nice collections.
We have since as you see changed our style. However, some things have stayed with us. I would like to share some 1950's fun stuff. Glasses, drink tray, and a cool drink whistle. My Mom and sister had fun finding some things for us as well. In fact, the tray may be from my Mom.
This whistle type of stirrer must have been popular in the 50's, I suppose when you needed another drink. You would get the bartenders attention.
Turqoiuse and pink were the hot colors. I love these glasses, and we do use them on occasion.
Just a little snippet of a retro cocktail book. I think the 50's must have been a real fun time!
Love the tray! And do you notice the Deco ice cooler...we use that still.
Now all these bar accessories certainly do not go with our current style. They are fun to have though and to use on occasion. I am glad we have them. They are collectibles.

I about fell out of my chair with those drink whistles. My gosh, how annoying would I have been with one of those!!!! I LOVE IT!!! Now I gotta go take a picture to post here, should be interesting, but nowhere as close as your collection:)
What fun 50's finds! I love retro kicthen items. I have always wanted a 1950's kitchen... I'm so glad you host a garage sale party (where have I been?) I'll be sure to link up my recent finds. I am determined to keep up my garage sale going before the weather gets too cold...
Those are great! I would be very afraid to pull those out with some of our friends around!!!
I love vintage stuff...that stuff is great. Your bar area is awesome! Ive been so busy today with teething baby..lol However I got a delivery from woman who I purchases vintage scales from. I'll be selling them in my shoppe. But I'll be right back, gonna snap a photo so I can join your vintage party this week. lol
Great vintage stuff! I've never seen those whistle blower glasses. So cool!! I love the icebucket too. You're all ready for a Mad Men party (I know it's set in the 60's but all this stuff would still work!) Martini time!!!
Is that gorgeous bar and tin ceiling really in your home??? I'm so in love with it!!!
I love those drink whistles! What fun they must be at a party! I'll be linking up to your fun party tomorrow. Garage salin' and thrifting is right up my alley!!

I just love your fun vintage bar set and your bar is fabulous!!
I love that glasses and tray. Such fun. I haven't been doing much garage or thrift shopping lately either. But I'll come by to see what everyone else got!
What cool drink whistles. But, yeah, I am with Erin@likegrandmas - I could be pretty darn annoying with those after the first few drinks! It reminded me of Mad Men and them drinking cocktails in the office.
Those are cute retro items. Love the tray and I have never seen those straws before. Can you imagine us using those now. All there would be is whistling going on. I have nothing this week either. No thrifting again.
Your retro treasures are awesome! My younger brother loves all things mid century modern! Since he still lives in the same house we grew up in (he bought it from my dad a few years back) he has quite a few cool items from that era. He would love those glasses and trays.
Debbie, if I only had a dollar for every decorating miss...lol, join the club. At least your stuff really is collectors items. My stuff was just collectors junk.
Love that retro fun! Ya can just imagine the fun people had with the items ya find. Unlike today so ordinary and ya see one ya seen it all kinda things. Retro items/ vintage items take ya away for just a bit, to a happy place. Most times anyway.
Love the drink whistles. I think any vintage bar items make a fun collection for any bar. Hold on to these treasures.
Just love all that 50's crap! So fun.
Just look at that! You have an actual bar at home! Wow... I like the idea of using the whistle on the Mother, but I might get kicked out!!!
I absolutely love that tray and think you could have some pretty great parties with that stuff! I picture a "Mad Men" theme coming on! Left you a comment on your post you linked up to the party but wanted to leave one here too and say thanks for joining in the fun this weekend!

I love that tray! So cool! Those glasses are great too! You could so kick back a few beers with those in the lazy boy and whistle for another one from whomevers up. LOL! Oops, I did not just say that out loud did I? LOL! Very cute and wonderful collectibles!
I love this retro stuff. So kitschy!
P.S. Thanks for visiting me. I'll have to check out the rules for your linky party to see if I can join.
Love your fun 50's barware. I inherited my parents portable bar (I will take photos one of these days)and it had lots of old swizzle sticks and other bar stuff from the 50's. I think I have one of those whistles!
that's a beautiful bar table, I think I need one of those. The whistles look like their a lot of fun, reminds me of my party days at the San Diego border, you could hear them everywhere. Love the 50's decor.
Debbie- Those are so much fun to look at! My hubby's grandparents had a grand old bar in the 50's and I think they saw a LOT of fun times in that bar. Their bar stuff is stored in containers waiting for my son to claim them when his house is ready.
I love your post today and it made me smile!
Hugs- Diana
Hi Debbie, Love the drink whistles great conversation items ~ or should I say, attention getters! You have the coolest things!
Thanks for stopping by my place - yes, I sprayed that rooster red! Thanks for noticing, I thought about you when I sprayed it and your red spray paint can "mishap" - I was careful! ~Marcy
Oh I so remember the 50's. That was the time when I was in High School and all the movies and parties were so Hollywood. What fun finds. Hugs, Marty
Debbie - these are great ideas - love the drink whistles, love the bar set! I can't wait to buy another home just so I can decorate it now!!! Thanks for visiting my blog.

Very hip and swanky. I just love that word "swanky." :) Now I will go to bed with ole blue eyes crooning in my head :)
Deb, I love blue and aqua, it is all really popular again, I think it would have been a good era. Quit worrying about blog visits. You'll get there when you get there. I always had more time when my kid went back to school, I didn't volunteer though. We had room Moms, but nothing else to volunteer for, those were the good old days

I used to not like the retro look, but I have to say it is kind of growing on me! Drink whistles... oh, yeah baby!!!
Love your tray and retro items.Although they may not go with what you have today... keep them. They will always bring back sweet memories of your first home.
Cute and very cool!! I love anything 50s and got some pink and blue melmac dishes this summer that I just adore. I also bought some "swanky swigs" tumblers. Love that stuff!! You do have some great collectibles!
Oh wow Debbie! I love the retro cocktail items! I especially love the whistle drink stirrers! Depending on the person using them, they could either be fun or annoying! Your bar is awesome!
Thank you for hosting the party!
~ Tracy

The pilsner glasses are quite wonderful. I wouldn't be surprised to see them show up on an episode of Mad Men on television. I was a little girl in the 50's, and I think that I remember those whistles. They were funny as a child, and they're even funnier now. Thank you for sharing your unique collection. Cherry Kay
Hi Debbie...great nostalgia pieces! Those whistle glasses are a hoot!
LOVE your ceiling!!!!!
I'm linking up for the first time to your party...fun.
Debbie@houseatthelake
Love the glasses!
Stop by and collect your clues. The largest giveaway in Decor To Adore history will be revealed next Friday.
Hi Debbie! Believe it or not, being born in the 50's, I like the retro look too. It just wouldn't look right in our Plantation type home now. I had a kinda retro look in my Florida home too and I have some retro dishes now...Christine
Love those little drink whistles and that bar is gorgeous! We have the vintage look in our home which includes a few retro things.
Haha love the drink whistles. Where were those in my drinking days. Would have been fun yet annoying.
Great bar pieces and wonderful conversation starters! Even if your style has changed having pieces that spark conversation are always good to have near a bar :)
Wendy
What a cool bar you have!!!!
I love vintage 50's anything. The colors were just so amazing back in those days!
Thanks for hosting. I always love seeing your treasures. You have so many fun things.
Oh my goodness gracious girl....those drink whistles.!! I can just picture my 'girls' and I on our 'ladys night' blowing them ALL night long for more Margareta's...yum yum...of course after the blowing, I would have to get up and make them,LOL
This must be deja vu day for me. The glasses you posted exactly match a set I just rescued from my grandmas house that were destined for GW. I almost posted them but am planning on using them for another post. They are for one of my daughters first apartment. That's some cool stuff you've posted!
