Yes, I know.....
Yes, I know I am on break, still am...however,this is a worthy cause and worthy of me posting about.
Last night my husband and I went to a special GALA fundraiser event, and I wanted to not only post pictures, I also wanted to talk briefly about the cause. The fundraiser was for Juvenile Diabetes. One of my son's best friends had been diagnosed with Type I diabetes when he was just 3 years old. He is now 13, and I can say I have learned a lot about this disease, and the effects it has on children and families. My heart goes out to these families affected by this disease. Please read more here:

I was very happy to be part of this event, sponsored by Lance crackers. This event raised over a half a million dollars just last night. Amazing people to make this fundraiser and event successful. I just want to share just a smidgen with you all.
Do you know any children affected with TYPE I Juvenile Diabetes? All I can say is these kids are troopers. Alex's friend has to check his blood sugar 8-10 times a day, and that means pricking his finger. His insulin is delivered by a pump that is attached to him. He is one of the happiest kids I know, and never let's his disease get him down. His Parents are amazing people, and they too have a very positive outlook. I am hoping this post may raise awareness.
I hope all is well with you and your lovely families. Blessings and thoughts to all. Debbie XXX000
We are all truly the faces of Hope
The turn out was amazing around 500 people

No, I do not know any kid with juvenile diabetes, but I am impressed by the happy little kid's story. Thank you for sharing. :)
That is a great cause, Debbie. Isn't it fun to dress up for a charity fund raiser dinner. We used to go to several a year. I am actually glad that I don't have to buy so many fancy outfits anymore. Y'all looked very nice.
I don't know any children with this, it sounds awful, but manageable. I have been thinking about you. Take all the time you need to just be Debbie! Love your way, Lori

A friend of mine was diagnosed with that when we were about 11 or 12. She's had to go through a lot over the years, but she is doing OK.

Terrific Debbie!!! I do have friends with a little girl with Type 1, she is much like your son's friend. So happy and positive. Her parents are social networkers, which is great because they too try to bring more awareness to our area. You look wonderful, happy to see your smiling face:) Thanks for stopping over, I miss ya!

Hi Debbie, How wonderful that you and your husband where able to go to a Gala for such a wonderful cause. I think the children affected are braver than some adults that I know. I too, was so happy to see a post and a picture of your "smiling" face. Missed you! Glad you are doing great!
Hugz,
Kim
Hey lady!!! I cannot tell you how excited I was to see your post pop up on my sidebar! You looked so gorgeous with your hubby and I'm so glad you posted about this cause. I have a dear friend who has battled Type 1 diabetes since she was a young girl and it has ravaged her body and as a result she was unable to get pregnant. But, she and her hubby just adopted a darling little boy and she is doing really well! Thank you for sharing something so near and dear to you with all of us.
Hope to hear from you again soon my friend, but also hope you are finding the rest and balance you are seeking right now!
Blessings,
Vanessa
Very nice...nice to see you again too!
Hi Debbie, so happy you came back for a little bit ~ spray painting just isn't the same without you! Love the pic of you and your hubby and what a great cause you were supporting! Enjoy your time! ~Marcy
Hi Debbie~ You guys looks fabulous and what a great cause!! Nice to see you out here in blogland again, even if it's just for a little bit! :)
Hi Debbie,
You are beautiful. My heart goes out to children who deal with disease at such a young age. It just seems so unfair.
Well didn't you just look stunning!
What a great cause. You look great! I don't know any children with diabetes, but yours sons friend sounds like a trooper for sure. Hope you are doing well.
Looks like a great gala for a wonderful cause! You two look great, too!
Great picture!
Thanks for stopping by and nice comment.
You look mahvelous, Debbie ... very glamorous! Glad the fundraiser was so successful. My son was diagnosed with Type I diabetes weeks after his 2-year checkup (at which time he'd been pronounced in perfect health). He had a great pediatrician who would say, "Don't refer to him as a diabetic; say he's a healthy child with diabetes."
The disease definitely creates challenges. I always said it could have been something far worse, but a cure would truly make a HUGE difference in countless lives around the world (and reduce healthcare costs tremendously).
Yes, a great cause. You look beautiful and good for you to bring light to a disease that can be so difficult for children to live with.
Well Debbie, it appears that nobody misses you at all:) I'm kidding of course!
You look gorgeous in your photo and such a great cause too!
I just removed your linky party from my blog since you no longer host it...sniffle sniffle:( It was a sad moment.
You look amazing Debbie-sounds like a wonderful cause-hope your rest is doing you good-you've got me thinking too-my husband says he misses me lately(he never did before) and I think it's the blogging thing-thanks for making us all realize what's really important-although blogging friends are good!
Debbie, What a beautiful couple you and your hubby makes!! Your home is gorgeous!! I love the rooster painted white!! Your teacups are to die for, they are the most gorgeous teacups I have seen.
Deb...you look beautiful..xoxo...~sabri~
