Favorite paint colors and Newbie party!

So, how do you choose the right colors for an open floor plan?
It seems to be the biggest decision we make when we purchase our homes.

We have a very open floor plan and this was a huge decision for us.
If you have read my blog for sometime, you know Mike and I bought our home without ever stepping foot in it before we actually closed.
Well, the way we chose our paint colors was really on a whim too.  We both have similar taste in paint colors.  One day while browsing restoration hardware , we both noticed  the paint color pallet throughout  the store. We started going around grabbing swatches, came back to our South Florida home and called the builder to ask for a recommendation of a painter.  So over the phone, we told the painter the colors, sent him the swatches, and what kind of paint we wanted, and which color per rooms. So again, we never knew until we stepped foot what it would look like.
We used Restoration hardware colors, Benjamin Moore paint, eggshell finish.

Both boys rooms are painted this color and then their Jack and Jill bath is painted the Butter cream which is in all the bathrooms in the house.

This is the boys TV room. I took some pics with the flash on hoping to get a true color. I also did pics without the flash on which I normally do.  It is amazing how the color looks different both ways.  The swatches shown are really the truest in color.
I often receive requests for our color pallet so I thought I would share with you a quick color tour.
Thanks for stopping by.
Newbie party still going on

You have some great choices but I often struggle with this too. We have an open floor plan and it's tough to get it to match without looking like a sore thumb.

Hey I have that thing that you have above the couch in the boys TV room, I actually have 2 and was thinking of using them together as a headboard in the desert house...it sure looks good behind your couch....can't wait for the pet party, I have a little surprise!!! Happy Monday!

They are really beautiful colors! When I first moved into our house, my husband and I really wanted COLOR on the walls. I wish I had gone with more neutral shades like these, especially in the main living areas. I use the Pottery Barn paint palette now for all of our paint needs. I ended up picking a blue for the master bedroom but it's still a better choice than what I might have picked myself!

I love the colors you chose. Especially the first one. I am trying to find a color I want for my bedroom right now. Hubby is not happy with the paint sample I painted all over the wall above our bed.

I have the same problem over here with the open floor plan. The colors that you have chosen, the sage and khaki colors are very pretty and classic.

I love your color pallet. The colors are all quite soothing and pleasing to the eye. You were very brave to do it sight unseen but you are a talented lady. Your home is lovely to look at but I see family happiness, joy and fun when I see you and the men in your family. Love Ya Girl, Ginger

I know how expensive it is to get a whole house painted so choosing the right colors is so important! The colors you chose are really nice as they are very complementary and neutral enough to mix and match accent colors in furniture.

finding the right color paint is like finding a good man. on the swatch it looks good, but once you take it home and open it up, it's the absolutely wrong color. :P to make retouches easier i used the same tan throughout most of our house. one room has it on the top half, another has it on 3 walls with an accent. we used to have different color rooms, but i loathe all those paint cans in my garage! oh! and thanks for the party! :)

You did such a great job choosing colors for your home. I too, choose colors for my home before I even stepped foot in it. Choosing colors for open floor plans (my speciality) can be extremely challenging. You make it look so easy.

I need to link up to this post when I reference open floor plans again.

If I ever need a partner I'm calling you Debbie!

OMG!! Debbie, thank you so much for posting your paint colors. I've been trying to find the Butter color for my house and have never been able to get quite the right shade of yellow. These are perfect! Thanks again.

I have the exact same wood piece that you have hanging over the sofa. I painted my white and it is hanging vertically in my gameroom.

I enjoy your blog!
