Cool sign, Debbie! Can't help you with the splitting dilemma... haven't worked with pallets before. My friend's dad used to own a pallet company, but that was before they were all the rage :) Good luck!
Debbie, what a cute, cute idea!! I would never think of that.
Hubby tore one apart last night to make me something, and swore that he would cut them off the next time, lol. He keeps a stack of pallets at his shop.
I leave those things for other people to craft with because they are too difficult to deal with. Love that you wanted to show your history in your home with yours though!
I've tried several times to tear those things apart and I have the same problem. They won't budge!
I love your sign on the tree. It brings the 'homey' outside!
Hi Debbie! You can check out some of our tips here: http://www.bandbsnestinteriors.com/2011/09/transformation-tuesday-outdoor-pallet.html, one of which is to cut the board out, instead of pulling it out. If you don't need the entire length, then it works great! Nice use of the wood. Very, very cute! XOXO Laura
Debbie, your gonna have enough wood from those pallets to build an Ark!
Love all the fun crafts and such that your making from them.
Debbie, cute signs and great idea. Look at you putting that poor man to work again. That's okay we like looking at his muscles.
Haha... oh my... I'm so busted. :)
I get my pallet wood with it already dismantled!
Just banging it off or prying it apart is the only way. Or sawing short of the nails. If banging, place another piece of wood where you hit it so that gets the impact, not the pallet wood.
Google the topic... there's guys out there dismantling pallets on Youtube of all things! :)
Donna
Soooo cute Debbie! You're so creative. I would've probably spent a ton on Etsy to get the same or less for you did for free:) And free's a good thing.
The Carolina's definitely are beautiful, a nice place to raise kids too. My brother and his wife left So Cal years ago and have never looked back!!!
very nice Debbie, not only did you recycle but you created art throughout your yard.
what a great project! If I had a tree I would use your idea!
Have any ideas on how to spruce up an ugly fire escape?!?! lol
Really cute idea, Debbie! Hope you can figure out how to get them apart without them splitting. xo Diana
Hey - there is a whole video on YouTube about taking pallets apart. My husband has been taking them apart like crazy after watching the video.
Love it.....great idea and love the choice of color you used. Like your hubby's guns too!
Another neat pallet idea! You can't beat free and the ideas are endless.
Nancy
wow, thats a creative twist, My husband said to center punch the nail head then drill the heads of the nails might work,, or if you have a nail puller. The wood is really dryed out thats probably why they split.A nail puller is around twenty bucks.Looks good Debbie, I would bring my nail puller over but over is a couple of thousand miles away.
Ian cut a couple wedges for me. I drop the wedge into the pallet and hammer on it until the board pops off.
Oh Debbie that is sooo cute, the board with the writing is cute too LOL!!
Carol
Cute idea! I love that it marks when you first arrived in Carolina. Thanks for sharing.
Great sign, Debbie!
xo

Another great project Debbie! I love that you used a pallet!
Looks like I need to head up to Lowes and get me a couple of these!!!
Blessings,
Linda
Cute idea! Once every blogger in America starts asking Lowe's for their pallets, they'll start charging for them! Maybe you can get a cut?
Cute sign, Debbie! I have to catch up on all of your project this week as I am out of the loop due to being out of town 4 days.
Thanks for linking to Potpourri Friday. I appreciate your participation!
Debbie -great job on the sign!
What a nice hubby! And cute too!
I have no idea about the splitting... hmmm.
I am sure someone will have a perfect solution though!
Have a pretty day!
Kristin
Another clever idea for the pallets. I sure enjoy watching you work!
What a cool idea! I've never heard of using pallets for projects. I like that they're free even more!
These are pretty neat signs, Debbie. You always come out with great ideas...Christine
Neat idea Debbie! Our Lowes is not being very generous with their pallets anymore. They want to charge for them now :(
Have a wonderful day,
Gail
What a great idea Debbie. I love it. I wish I would have thought of something like that. I just had pellets for my pellet stove delivered and they asked me if I wanted the pallets they came on and I said NO. I'll make sure I take them next time.
Very cool and what a great idea Deb! Martina
What a great idea for upcycling!! The sign looks great....love the colors!
Love that....the last pallet project we did(Mrneverlazy)had to drill the nails out with the drill. The little table turned out good.I don't know what they use to put these pallets together, but they sure make 'em so you have to bust a gut to take 'em apart,I'm glad there free!!
~JO
How cool is that!! I might even be able to do that..
My hubby isn't as helpful as yours so I have to do it all by myself. So I choose easy things. Thanks for the inspiration!
Enjoy your weekend~SueBee

Cute! Anxious to see what you'll think of next to make with that wood!
Nicely done!Sending big hugs and sincere wishes for a weekend filled with joy, Katherine
Looks good Debbie. Sounds like you have a little "Burma Shave" thing going on here.
I am wondering how many remember "Burma Shave".
Go ask your Mama!
Love ya girl, Ginger
Holy Moley....you do have the cutest ideas of anyone, Debbie Doo. This is just precious.
And, thank you for telling us where we might get some pallets. I am just dying to try making a potting beach out of some. Of course, I have NOT A CLUE how to do it but...I KNOW it would be so cute.
Hugs, bj
cute sign! I love the color.
catching you this week,
gail
Honey says: If you use a SAWS ALL...WITH A METAL CUTTING BLADE... you can saw right thru the nails.
I've seem him do it...I guess it just depends on the project you want the boards for.
Like the signage... !
