Coffee talk series time!
knowl·edgeNoun/ˈnälij/
and it works for me.
I have been blogging for almost two years, my two year anniversary will be in January.
I do make new ones as well along the way.
Sponsors looking to advertise, or do guest posts, also look for the blogs that are higher traffic.
Oh, and I must add...put your very best out there. Good photo's, good content and people will follow, and most importantly, always be yourself.
Hey even show your worst, we all need a good laugh sometimes.
(Just be sure to tell us this was your worst)
Hate to laugh at ya, if we were not suppose to!
And you do not have to have thousands of followers to receive comments. Just put yourself out there and get to be a familiar face.
Again, you need to work it. It will come back to you!
As those are the gals that will be loyal to your blog and come visit and comment.
Not to say smaller linkies do not bring you a lot of traffic as well.
Because they certainly do!
Large linkies can also form friendships, you just need to work that large list!
In fact, when I see someone has 0 comments, and they linked up to 10 parties, I do comment on their post. They took so much time and effort to do that post and link it up.
So are you looking for more traffic? Or more friendships and readership? Or how about all of the above?
You see there are pros and cons,
it is just a matter of how you look at it.
how you work it, and what you are looking to get out of blogging.
words of wisdom.
See you later for the NEWBIE party!
ONE more thing for the road.
Hosting a linky party is a lot of time and work. Even if you do not receive a comment from the host, do not think she/we/me is not coming over to your blog and checking things out.
Remember one thing, you are using the hosts blog to gain more traffic and readership to your site.
If a host has 200-300 links on her page, there really is no realistic way she can come and comment to you all.
That was one major thing I learned along the way. I could not understand why a host never came to visit me and comment, after all she was the host of the party. A lot of gals will have different feelings toward this one, I have heard it before, and I know some just stop joining that linky because the host never once came over.
Please always keep in mind you can't be all things to all people.
I try to visit you all, but I know sometimes, I can't, I get sidetracked and I would be sititng here 24/7. I have a family, activities, a home to keep, blah blah blah..
Time just does not allow it.
I do appreciate every single one of you..your participation and your friendships...
XO

Debbie you said it perfectly!! Your Newbie party was such a big help to me, I can't thank you enough for starting such a great party! It helps tremendously getting the word out on all newbie bloggers:)They just have to remember to do their part too and visit visit visit!! Thanks my friend, Martina
Thanks Debbie for your helpful hints and your friendship! Your Newbie Party has been a blessing for all new bloggers!!
Great chat Debbie! For me it's all about the friendships and sharing inspiration. I'm not one to care about the traffic. Thanks for sharing this topic with us.
Have a good Sunday!
Warmly, ~Melissa :)
Excellent!
You have helped me and my blog so much, a big hug to you!!! I've said it before and I'll say it again I don't know how you younger bloggers do it with kids and so much more to do in the home than I do at this time in my life, which I'm enjoying I might add but I remember those days as a young mother and the need of each one of my four children, now to me bittersweet memories!
I still to this day want to join in on your Newbie party but I know I can't, I'll always remember how it helped me though and also when you featured me...I think I danced around the room that day♥
Cheers to you my friend!
Debbie, thanks so much for these very helpful hints! I have met some truly great women over the past couple of weeks; and established some great friendships. It all starts with a simple comment! Your newbie party is a great avenue, as well. It's a great jump start for any newbie! Thanks for sharing these tips!
You gave some great tips! I usually comment back to everyone that leaves me a comment and have certain blogs that I follow religiously. I get frustrated when I comment and follow them so closely and it's not reciprocated. But, then I have to realize that not everyone monitors their comments the same way. Heck, I'm just happy to know that SOMEONE is reading my blog! Ha! I'll take what I can get. I'm not making any money on my blog so I try to just have fun with it.
Great post Debbie! Couldn't agree more with everything you said.
Heather
Debbie you have been a wonderful teacher yourself! YOU are an awesome blogger and friend!!
I am a friend of Cindy's and have been enjoying her series. Just when you THINK you know everything, you realize you don't!

As usual Debbie, you are always spot on with your comments & advice! I think your Newbie Party is one of the biggest helpers for new bloggers anywhere.
you did say it perfectly Debbie and its because of you we all do so well.I love the newbie Parties and even if I can't link I still come and visit. Blogging is the best thing I've done in a long while and I have no regrets ,,its a wonderful experience and the friends i've made are amazing,, we talk, (well type) everyday.I'm a faithful blogger,, I try to be responsible,, and respect my fellow bloggers in every way!
Great post! When I started blogging, my competitive spirit kicked in and I thought I wanted to be a "big" blogger with a huge following. I quickly got over that as I started actually blogging and realized that I was here to make friendships, find inspiration and share the stories of my family. My blog is mainly for our family to keep up with us as we have always lived far away from everyone. I figured out quickly that I am creative but lazy when it comes to doing my ideas and that is o.k.! I am slow on projects and that is o.k.! I blog when I can and that is o.k. too! I blog for fun and enjoy the time that I do! It is what you make of it and I am happy!
I notice more and more bloggers, those who used to stop by and comment, are now using the reply by email option. I'll make a long comment on their post and get an email saying "Thanks!". That's kind of a turn off lately. But you are and have always been a loyal and faithful commenter:)
Your newbie party was such a HUGE part of starting housedressingblog.blogspot.com.
I found such inspiration from other newbies, and made some wonderful friends.
Thank you so very much for not only hosting every week, but also for encouraging, teaching, mentoring and befriending us newbies!
Debbie, you are a wonderful example of a great blogger. It is partly because of all that you do to help other bloggers get started. However, there is more to it. You are first and foremost a uniquely good person. Your caring attitude is engrained in your personality and spirit. The rest comes naturally. Thank you for being Debbie, the inspiration for all of us. Love you girl, Ginger
I love that your Newbie party came about because of your sweetness and concern for others.
Now, I am off to visit a few news...

OOO...
In the 4 yrs I've been blogging, I have never, not one time, ran out of blogging material. Most of the time, before I can get the photos finished and my post ready, I am already planning the next. So, bloggers, just post from your heart..things you love...things that interest YOU. Once people see how you really feel about things, thru your posts, they will come back to read more.
Great post. You said it all. There are so many reasons to blog and I so think the friendships are one of the best parts of all. Great advice to othere. Hugs, Marty
Great post Debbie! My one year will be in November. Blogging has required lots of time but is also fun. You have always been such an encouragement!
Blessings,
Cindy
Great post my friend! I love forming new friendships...guess that's what it's all about for me.

Hi Debbie,
THANK YOU so much for letting people know about my seminar...I hope that it will helps LOTS of people!!
You are an absolute DOLL to let people know about it.
You've been blogging for 2 years? I thought you had been blogging for 20! LOL You're a STAR on here, my friend!!!!
I'm still learning things every day--and I am glad we started blogging when we did because as things change, we will already be up to speed on much of what we need to know, which I am grateful for.
Have a beautiful Sunday!
Oh, and tomorrow I am posting your button at the top of my class so that people will know to come over and join in!
XO
Cindy
Thank you all so very much! What a great support group you are..and the best cheerleader out there! I am truly blessed to have such great friends and readers.
My daughter and I are having a great time staying connected writing our blog together, even though we live in two different/diverse parts of the country. Readers and comments are icing on the cake. We do it because we love it, and actually having people subscribe and read us is a total thrill. We soak up all of the helpful info we can get.
Such a lovely post, Debbie! The friendship aspect of blogging is the best part about it, and anything else that follows is just an added bonus. =)
Happy Sunday and thanks for sharing, it was fun to read! XO ~Liz
Thanks for the good advice Debbie. I have learned so much from you and the Newbie Party.
Have a great afternoon.
Barb
These are OUTSTANDING tips and I have learned from them all kinda all by myself.
Starting a blog IS HARD WORK! If you don't have the time? It goes down hill quickly, you really have to take the time, you are 100%right. Debbie...wish I would have seen this post a few months ago lol
Seems you have always made the time to stop by my blog and I REALLY appreciate that. As a busy mom of a busy teen I have a very limited amount of time....she recently injured her foot and now she cannot run cross country :( this leaves me free time to catch up, VERY BITTERsweet!
Thanks for hosting, it's been so helpful for me!
~~Wendy
great stuff, read Marty's post too. I remember "talking" to you a long time ago about wanting to be a blog rock star. LOl, well that aint happened here! I still am trying to find out the actual answer to that question..Why do I blog?
Debbie I have a new blog friend that needs to find you. I told her about the newbie party but was wondering if you might go by and say Hi to her. Her blog is Our Home Away From Home and she is on my blogroll. Her home is gorgeous!
Really, really good post. Thanks for sharing things we have all thought. I struggle with commenting...mostly keeping up. I try very hard to return every visit but of course many times I fall short. I'm trying though so I guess that counts for something. I wish I could blog full time but that's not going to happen so I need to accept my time limitations. Easier said than done. By the way, your Newbie Party is the best...I still miss it.
Well said! You nailed my thoughts completely with the "you can't be all things to all people" comment. I think blogging is a learning process, often quite a bit about yourself. Not sure I'll ever totally figure it out but at least I am realizing some of what is and is not important to me. The best part of blogging has been the few friendships I've made along the way, oh and learning how to take better photos too. That's fun!
GREAT post!! Amen, sister to it all.
Debbie, thanks for the great bloggin gnews and advice! It is always helpful to us all. andrea@ townandprairie
Great post Debbie! Your newbie party was my favorite to participate in. It brought me such nice relationships with other new bloggers.
Have a great week!
Pam
Another great post, Debbie. I can't imagine how you could possibly visit all the people who link to your party. You've certainly helped me with all my questions. Now I'm off to email Victoria. I thought I WAS supposed to reply to comments through email.
You are awesome! Thanks for sharing.
Debbie, I don't say this often enough, but thank you for your tips, your friendship, and your newbie linky party. You have sent so many readers in my direction! Thank you for helping me grow, dear friend.

Thank-you for the mention Debbie! Such a great thing you're doing here helping new bloggers out. Kudos to you!
Donna
All I can say is you're are a darn good bra!! I don't know how you do all you do as it is! I don't think I will ever be a big blogger, the thought kind of frightens me! I guess I am not really working it, I think I am under the mistaken thought, that if you write it, they will come. I have sent so many newbies to you, how sweet you are to jet propel their blogs!
Carol
Well said!
I know I get lots of mail and more comments than I used to get. I enjoy coming here and blog hopping thru the newbies (kind of like tip-toeing thru the tulips!)
anyway...the parties help and my traffic has increased. I love it.
There isn't any way to keep up with correspondence and live a full life...I hope people understand that.
You do a great job!
Pat
Hi Debbie, thanks so much for posting. Such wonderful advice for everyone. For me it's all about making new friends and finding great inspiration. I hadn't a clue what I was doing when I started, not that I do now but I'm getting there. Your newby party really helped me get a good start and I thank you for that.
Have a great week,
Marianne :)
Hi Debbie, I just popped over from Cindy Adkins Whimsical Musing. I love your seasonal decor. Looking forward to visiting your party.
yes, great post! and I certainly don't expect comments from every host, blogging takes TIME even without hosting a party and there are simply times when something else is more important! You guys all do a great job, thanks!! Hope you have a wonderful day!
Thanks for all the information and I will be joining this party since I'm one of the newbie and yes there many worst photos and projects thinking they looked good on my blog your article was so encouraging to me.
Debbie, I just wanted to thank you for visiting my new blog and for your kind comments.
I am very new at this, but I love decorating and sharing all new ideas and projects.
I still have to figure out how to join your Newbie party. LOL
Thank you for all your help!
I appreciate all of the time and effort you have given to us newbies. You have always been a gracious host and have helped to show us how to improve our blogs when a lot of people don't take the time. : ).. Thanks for being such a great blogger, your site is always full of such great ocntent!
Hey, Deb!!
Great post!!
I think we have all experienced everything you have talked about.
I blog to learn from others, to meet new people and to make friends and to have fun.
When I come home in the morning after working all night, the first thing I head for is not the bed but the computer. I want to see who is up to what. It helps me unwind, brings a smile to my face and maybe gives me a good laugh. The crazy hours i work are not conducive to freindships. But through blogging, I can check in on my friends any time i want.
and you are right, the more you comment, the more comments you get.
Blogging is a personal thing for me so as of right now, I don't want any advertisements on my blog. Nothing against anyone who does have them. Now maybe when I have to quit working, I may consider the ads on my blog but for now, for me personally, I am good without them. So I guess I don't care about traffic....
I think most of us want to share our lives with others and through blogging , we get to do it on a large scale!!
LOVE this post, girl!!
Hugs,
Deb
Deb- You are so down to earth and know how to relate to so many. Big kudos to you- new bloggers can learn so much from you and your friendship. Heck, I'm an oldie and value your friendship! :-)
love ya girl, Sue
Such GREAT advice on this one Debbie! I agree with every word of it especially about needing to work at building those relationships. Just like friendships in the "real" world, blogging friendships need to be invested in. And, oh, if only we could visit everyone who linked up to our party! I agonize over not getting to make it around to everyone but truly I would have to be ignoring my family in order to do that and well...obviously my family comes first!! Anyway, thank you for pointing that out too!
Blessings to you for being so open and honest and helping others through the maze of bloggy craziness. :-)
Vanessa
Hi Debbie. Thanks so much for these great tips! Very helpful and informative. I sure do miss being able to participate in your Newbie Party. The day that you featured a post of mine was the most exciting day of my bloggy life!!! Take care.
Hi Debbie, what a honest and informative chat. I would be a nervous wreck if I had to depend on traffic. Super-stardom is just not my concern, but friendship, photography, thriting, and decorating do get me excited about blogging. hugs♥O
This is very helpful- Thanks!
