Christmas mantel {rustic, whimsy}

I have to say this year I did not struggle with my Christmas mantel what so eva!
Perhaps, I am either getting over my mantel challenge, or perhaps, I just am getting better at this gig! Practice my friends, practice.
I knew I wanted RED traditional stockings this year.
So I headed out to Garden ridge and found some cheapo ones for $2.99 each.

I wanted LOTs of Red in the family room this Holiday season.
It just is a pick me up I suppose.
My Mom found the skate for me last year, I just love it!

A little red, a little rustic, and a little whimsy is what I would say I did this year.
Makes no sense really, but, who says Holiday decorating has to make sense, if it makes you happy, go for it!

I had fun playing in Picnik as you can see.
I love to play with the holiday pictures.

I had the wooden ornaments from years past, pine cones, bells, sticks, and the wooden spindles are all new additions to my holiday mantel.

Oh look I hid the clock with a a Toy sign...LOL...of course Mike noticed that.
I have had those tin signs for years, I bought them at Target.

Thank you for stopping by.
Hope your holiday shopping and decorating is coming along nicely.
I have to get on line to shop some more.
My boys are tough this year.  They each only asked for one thing...
of course electronics...
looks like socks and underwear are on the list, as I have no clue what else to get them. It gets harder as they get older don't you think?
Have a great day!

Man-O-Live.... you have really out done yourself this year. I have been keeping my eyes peeled for a pair of skates for a while now. Off to H.L., I need one more thing...ok, maybe two. By the way, if you had stenciled that ca-mod maybe your sweet son might have seen it and not dropped his phone...lol...I'll leave you on that note. I need to get there before all the moms who are busy getting their kids off to school.

Your mantel is so creative!! I really love it. I like how you did an asymetric design and added the whimsical signs. It's like your mantel is telling a story. Very unique and pretty. Yes, I agree it gets tougher to buy for them as they get older, but mostly more expensive! They start wanting one thing that costs ALOT instead of a bunch of little enexpensive things.

Oh, this is really lovely. I wish I has a mantel! Yes, red for Christmas always wins.

Presents for boys? Gadgets and wind up toys, if you're looking for cheapie stoking fillers. If they doodle in their notebooks or watch Japanimation, they might like art stuff.

If they're sporty, I dunno! My kids are as geeky as I am. I really wouldn't have know what to do with a sporty kid. They need a lot more space, right? And cleats...always need cleats?

Merry Christmas!

Your holiday mantel looks so wonderful and creative, Debbie! Great job! I finally decorated the sofa table yesterday. That's as far as we got...we did get a big live tree last night and brought it in the house. Hope to have most of the decorating finished by this weekend.

Your mantel is so, so, pretty! I love it! And, I must say, from the angle looking into your living room, it looks like you have a vaulted ceiling, and your house looks huge! By the way, one little "secret" to finding ice skates to decorate with, is picking them up at a thrift store for $2-$3 a pair.
