Christmas mantel {rustic, whimsy}
My Mom found the skate for me last year, I just love it!
I love to play with the holiday pictures.
I have had those tin signs for years, I bought them at Target.
Thank you for stopping by.
Hope your holiday shopping and decorating is coming along nicely.
I have to get on line to shop some more.
My boys are tough this year. They each only asked for one thing...
of course electronics...
looks like socks and underwear are on the list, as I have no clue what else to get them. It gets harder as they get older don't you think?
Have a great day!

Your mantel looks so pretty and festive! I love the ice skate!
Love the reds and rustic look of your mantel....very pretty!
Man-O-Live.... you have really out done yourself this year. I have been keeping my eyes peeled for a pair of skates for a while now. Off to H.L., I need one more thing...ok, maybe two. By the way, if you had stenciled that ca-mod maybe your sweet son might have seen it and not dropped his phone...lol...I'll leave you on that note. I need to get there before all the moms who are busy getting their kids off to school.

Kate - The G.B.
Your mantel is just incredibly beautiful, Debbie. There are so many interesting things on it. Love the signs!! I thought they were vintage!! You really did a great job, it's inspiring!
XO,
Jane
love the reds this year so cheery and the sign in front of the clock is a great idea cant tell its there .LOL
Your mantel is so creative!! I really love it. I like how you did an asymetric design and added the whimsical signs. It's like your mantel is telling a story. Very unique and pretty. Yes, I agree it gets tougher to buy for them as they get older, but mostly more expensive! They start wanting one thing that costs ALOT instead of a bunch of little enexpensive things.
Super cute, Debbie! Your mantle definitely has a vintage feel to it, very nice. The skates and the sign are adorable. xo ~Liz
I want a skate!!! Your mantel is the perfect combination of fun, festive and vintage!
Oh, Debbie,
You rocked this mantel! Really cute! It is such a fun mantel! I have my copycat challenge all ready for Monday! See you then!
Hugs,
SHerry
Hi Debbie, I love your mantel it really is so beautiful and inspiring! My favorite is your ice skate, love that touch! I always liked shopping for the children when they were younger, it was much more fun. I hope your holidays are filled with fun, family and love!
Hugz,
Kim
Oh, this is really lovely. I wish I has a mantel! Yes, red for Christmas always wins.
Presents for boys? Gadgets and wind up toys, if you're looking for cheapie stoking fillers. If they doodle in their notebooks or watch Japanimation, they might like art stuff.
If they're sporty, I dunno! My kids are as geeky as I am. I really wouldn't have know what to do with a sporty kid. They need a lot more space, right? And cleats...always need cleats?
Merry Christmas!
Your holiday mantel looks so wonderful and creative, Debbie! Great job! I finally decorated the sofa table yesterday. That's as far as we got...we did get a big live tree last night and brought it in the house. Hope to have most of the decorating finished by this weekend.
Regarding gifts...it does get more difficult every year. My girls couldn't think of a thing they wanted as they already have all the electronics they need. Of course, they would love a new car...LOL!
I am a traditional girl at heart when it comes to decorating for Christmas Debbie, which means I love my red and I love the way you did your mantel!! That shot that you soften is GORGEOUS!! Your house is looking quit festive my friend:) Martina
Ooouu!Ooouu! Oouuuuu! Girrrrl! It looks fantastic! I love the whimsy you added to your Christmas mantle. It's very vintage nostalgic too! Boys are so hard as they get older. It is usually boxes upon boxes of clothes and one big electronic gift at our house. Great job on another Debbiedoo's original!
Stunning Debbie love the mantel.. It;s being to look like Christmas...
Your room is just gorgeous...right out of a magazine! I love lots of RED this year, too! And you're right...I have 4 sons and it sure is hard to find things for them! ♥♥♥
Debbie, it looks great, happy, and fun!
Carol
The Ice Skate is such a great and one of a kind idea for the mantel!
Debbie, your mantel is wonderful. I love the red and using the skate and all of the other vintage items is just perfect. I love it all. Hugs, Marty
Deb, it looks great. I like that rustic look on your mantle.
I bet your family loves it too..
I just love your beautiful home and the mantel is perfect in the Red and White color theme. How lovely the skates and the thin ice sign are to add to the Christmas decorations. Happy Decorating, Pam
Hi Debbie Dear! Oh, I just love your mantel as it's so playful and cute! I love seeing lots of red too at Christmas. I enjoy looking at all of the wild colors others have, but I'm a pretty traditional old gal! :)
You're the best!
Be a sweetie,
shelia;)
Debbie, I love your rustic mantel! That skate is adorable!! I just love all of the whimsy!!
looks beautiful, such a lovely home you have, and you are so right, its harder every year and more costly. The gifts get a lot more pricey, as they get older.
Love the Traditional looks Lovely and reminds of a White Christmas!! The Ice Skate is Adorable... I am on a Ice Skate Kick this Year... :)
I love the sticks, I used a lot of them in a project I did for Christmas. Please drop by a see it. Richard at My Old Historic House.
Your mantel is so, so, pretty! I love it! And, I must say, from the angle looking into your living room, it looks like you have a vaulted ceiling, and your house looks huge! By the way, one little "secret" to finding ice skates to decorate with, is picking them up at a thrift store for $2-$3 a pair.
Oh, I love your mantle...esp. the pinecones and skates. I feel your pain with the boy presents. My oldest is 16 and thinks he can't live without electronics.
love the skate and the thin ice sign! my mom has an old sled that i'd like to place outside, but i think the local hoodlums would take it! (i call any child or teen walking by hoodlums)
Debbie, The mantel looks great. Mom did great with the skate. That last shot of the great room is awesome!
Blessings, Ginger
Rustic can give a fun feel to the holidays and I'm loving your mantle! They are always one of my favorite areas decorated during the holidays and the stairwells with garland and lights! Good luck shopping for the boys...I'm sure you will find something wonderful additions to the socks and electronics! ;)
Liesl :)
Looks great, Debbie! If your sons are anything like my 12 yo daughter, they want gift cards....iTunes (anything w/ an 'i' in front of it!, Dick's SG, etc....Good luck!
The mantel is really cute! Love all the red! I must say the skate and the sign are my favorite part! hugs, Linda
I love your pics! And it looks beautiful!
Those cheapo stockings are so pretty! I did more online shopping this morning.
So pretty and festive!
I also love lots of red to decorate our home for Christmas. Can't wait to see more of your decor!
Your mantel looks great. It is so nice when it comes together and turns out just like you had in mind. All the red is a great color in that room. Tell your Mom I need a pair of skates too. The tin sign is to cute, I have never seen on like it. Beautiful as always:)
Debbie, your mantel gets 10 stars from me! I think this is one of the most charming Christmas mantels I've seen. Love the mix of objects and the use of those signs. Fun to see all the Picnik photos. These are magazine worthy. I won't be surprised to see your mantel in Christmas issue next year. ;-)
It's beautiful...I struggled with mine this year and now that I see yours yikes mine looks like crap! I finished shopping for my daughter today....she wanted clothes and shoes!! Easy but not cheap!
I love your mantel. Except...it makes me want to redecorate mine!
You mantel looks amazing! I'd say you have gotten this gig mastered!
Debbie, Your mantel is so pretty -love the skate and the signs. I bet your boys are getting excited. Yes I think boys and as they get older is harder -there is no longer any big surprises because they pick out the electronics and they pick out their clothes. -still fun but different.
Your rustic mantle is gorgeous! Love that red and the ice skate is so cute! It's such a great mix of interesting elements!
Thank you for linking this lovely post to Potpourri Friday!
Hi Debbue,
Lovely mantel. The skate is so cute with the thin ice sign.
Dee
Your mantel looks great, and I know what you mean about it getting harder to buy for my kids! Love the ice skates, I'll take 'em off your hands it you ever want to get rid of them!
Debbie
Love the skate, it really adds a vintage feel to your mantle! Laura
I adore it. It is vintage Christmas at its best.
It looks amazing Debbie!!! I just love the red and all of the layers and textures. That skate is fabulous! Thank you so much for sharing this with us at Inspiration Friday this week!
Vanessa
You mantle looks amazing. I just love the skate and the thin ice sign. So unique and clever. It totally gets harder as they get older. You know I have a 14 and 11 year old and I don't really have a clue what to get them. They have everything!!
What an adorable mantle...looks beautiful and fun and that's what I love about it.
great job..you know i love the red...ha !! i did up red in my bedroom also...probably because everything "is" red....lol..i think your mantle is so festive...like the cute toy sign..
The TOY sign just wraps that mantle theme all up. Love it.
I love your mantel! It's festive. I was just thinking about grabbing a pair of skates out of my mom's attic to try to decorate with them. Yours look wonderful.
And you're right. Practice... practice... practice.
(And I still need practice)
Loving your reds. Very festive. Mike really keeps a close eye on that clock doesn't he!
Debbie I love your vintage inspired mantel! Please come by Sunday evening at 8 and share for my holiday mantel party! I know there are plenty of parties out there but I would be so honored to have party with us!
That is rustic with whimsy. Love it.
I love it, Debbie. It is rustic and fun! Perfect for an active family and yet warmly welcoming. xo Diana
I love it - but where's the other skate? I'm going to use red on our sideboard this year as well.
Deb- I especially like the spindle turned on its side and tied up w/a ribbon. All that red is so festive! Like the cute "vintage" signs. I thought of you today as I added some red balls to my southwestern themed tree. :-) Glad I got to see the red that you added in this year.
Love the skate to Deb and the signs, I thought they were vintage until you said you bought them at Target!
I used red to this year, I think it just says Christmas!!!
That looks fantastic! I love the skate and the ho ho ho, but the toy delivery sign is my favorite! So fun and cheery!
Everything looks great. Love your photo play.
It looks great! You've given me some great mantel ideas!
Debbie your mantel looks GREAT all decked out for Christmas! I love the rustic look you have created.
Enjoy your day,
Gail
I love all your details! Your mantel is so pretty!
I love your mantel! Rustic & whimsy are perfect words to describe it. I noticed the skate right away, I love it.
You make this look so effortless. Sign me up for one mantel with all of the same items! I love the sign skating on thin ice. Our second grader teacher used to tell our class that when we were fresh. :0)
So very charming and lovely!
I love your mantel! We don't have a mantel, so I begged the hubs to hang a mantel-like shelf for me to use for decorating purposes just before Halloween (as seen here: http://rosenberghfam.blogspot.com/2011/09/fall-decor.html)
Can't wait to finish it up and blog about it for Christmas!!!
Oh, I love this Debbie, so festive and fun, and the signs are way cool!! so glad you joined in for the party! xoxo
Looks wonderful...love the sign hanging from the garland! Very clever :) Laurel
Just darling Debbie! Thanx for coming one rot party! I need to head to Garden Ridge and see what they have. They just reopened here a few months ago and I forget abt them. Happy Holidays!
The mantel is gorgeous Debbie and even though I am in sweltering heat here I wanna skate toooo!!!! Love your pics of the rooms as well.
Happy decorating
Hugs
Veronica
Hi Debbie, I am obviously not the only one that loves your mantel...just look at all the comments! It is truly beautiful.
Hugs,
Sherry
BREATHTAKING- seriously. That ice skate drew me in. What a beautiful mantel and house!! I, too, am trying to bring red in this year.
I love these linky parties. How could there be one ugly home in America, with all of these beautiful links?! I am so glad I stopped by your blog. Off to take a look around!
Oh, wow, I love your rustic, whimsical mantel. So creative. And I agree with you about the boys being harder to shop for as they get older! I'm having trouble figuring out what to get my teenager this year.
I LOVE that skate hanging from the mantle!
Very cute! Your house is so pretty. :-)
Your house looks so Christmassy and homey.
