Show and TeLL FriDay~~ hosted by my Romantic Home with Cindy.......
This photo album was given to my husband 5 years ago by his Grandmother who is still living. She wanted him to have the history of her family with these pictures. She was kind enough to number each page and tell us who everyone was, and their birth and death dates. This is so special to us and we keep it out all the time so we can look at it. I always laugh because first of all I want to know why does everyone look mad and old even before they where old? LOL......Thanks for looking!

That is beyond a treasure!!!!!! How priceless. I would give anything to have something like that especially on my mother's side. She passed away in 1997 and I don't know very much about her family at all. They were never very close and now that she is gone, I don't have any contact with them. I would give anything to know more and need to get off my tail and do it. I have a family wall that I am doing in my hall and I am trying to get lots of old pictures. I have my husband's grandfather's first communion picture that I love. Family is a gift and what a treasure you have to share with your boys. By the way, they are sooooo cute! I love that picture of them!
What a lovely heirloom! Pictures of family are priceless! I am so happy you have them....
love, kelee
What a beautiful photo album, and it's in such excellent shape. What a gift! I love that your husband's grandmother is still alive to tell you who these people are. Such a happy bunch! I find it hysterical that in all the old pictures, people look mad!
My Grandmother gave me a similar album, but it was in poor shape and I don't know who the pictures are of! Thanks for sharing. --Delores
This is priceless. We have family albums with 1800-1900's photos from both sides of our families. I often wondered why everyone looked so mad too. A photographer friend told us with the powder they used in the day to make a flash to take the picture, they never knew how long it would take to take the picture, so they just sat there and the people never knew when to start smiling. Then all of a sudden a BLAST would happen and it took the picture. No one smiling. That's crazy but I believe it. What wonderful memories we have in those pictures. We'll keep them forever. We are too grouping all our family pictures on my hall wall. They are such conversation pieces for everyone.
Thanks everyone so far for the comments, it is a treasure, and I often wondered how many other people have such a treasure. And Lora that story makes sense, however they still looked old before their time. And look at the kids in their fancy desks, they look pissed off to be in school LOL!!~ Well that is still in today's generation too! But the kids have small generic looking desks now!
Debbie...LOL They do look pissed. That is so funny. Those were the old days...Lora
You are very blessed to have received this and with all the history and names. It's just lovely and priceless.
Oh, how I love vintage photos and family heritage albums. You are very fortunate your grandmother in law gave that treasure to you and that she knew and named the people in the photos!
I too have lots of family photos and I am always working on putting them together in albums.
Family treasures are so wonderful! Those are great! Even better knowing who everyone is! Your children will cherish when it's their turn to be the custodians of such wonderful family history!
Cheers!
Tina

What a beautiful treasure!
What a wonderful family treasure!!!It's not only a family heirloom, but so beautiful too! How lucky you and your husband are to have such a wonderful caring Grandmother! Thanks so much for sharing, Debbie @ Cottage Hann~Me~Downs
Look at those cute boys!! That is a great treasure you have received. So many people have no idea about the history of their family. One of my husband's sister has been looking through old pictures of their family and has made copies and shared them with all the siblings. It is funny how they all look so mad. I haven't seen any old photos on my side of the family, but my mom does have a book that was published for them with our family tree history in it. I am a descendant of Betsy Ross that made the American flag and to one of the signers of the declaration of independence. It is neat learning the history of our family.
what a treasure you have! do you see family resemblences in the old ancesters? my nephew made cds of all the old family albums about 5 years ago. i just put them in a box and forgot about them until my oldest sister got them out and showed me how to view it on the computer. and WOW! ! i'm still living in the past. i cant beleive how interested my grandchildren aras well . my father was quite a photogragher and took photos of a parade for the boys leaving for world war 1 and another of them returning. then another of the women working on the railroad because their werent enough men around.the personal photos dont have everyone looking mad as you say ,but yes i understand about the professional ones. your boys are beautiful! dont tell them i used that term for them , but they are. dorothy...
Excellent!!! As I'm into working on my family's genealogy, I really appreciated this post.

Imagine our kids today on such school banks, lol ! and dressed that way.
What a wonderful gift your husbands grandmother gave you! It's so nice that she wrote down who everyone was. In this day & age of having everything new & shiny, it is so special to have some things that tie us to our past. If you don't already have this information, have his grandmother write down (or record)how she & others came to this country & what they did to earn a living. I'm sure the stories are fascinating!
That is a very pretty photo album, how unique! I love the picture of the school children sitting on the old school chairs. I often wonder myself why nobody smiled when their pictures were taken in the olden times...Christine
What a beautiful album and a treasure to have. I know what you mean about how they looked in those pictures. When I look at old family photos then hear how old they were - not old by today's standards, I have to look myself in the mirror to reassure myself that I don't look that old. :-)
i just loved seeing that album it is a wonderful treasure :)
How lucky you are to have this! That's awesome she took the time to write all that information down and give this to you! This is a irreplaceable gift that can be cherished forever and passed down for many generations! ENJOY!
