Spring allergies, top 10 to bottom 10 cities with the worst

Does your city make the list?
Mine sure does.  We live in South Carolina, however on the border of Charlotte North Carolina which comes in number 5!
The 10 worst spring allergy capitals are:
1. Knoxville, Tenn.
2. Louisville, Ky.
3. Chattanooga, Tenn.
4. Dayton, Ohio
5. Charlotte, N.C.
6. Philadelphia
7. Greensboro, N.C.
8. Jackson, Miss.
9. St. Louis
10. Wichita, Kan.

No kidding there. I never had a problem in my life until I moved here. Gorgeous place to be however, in the Spring, and after the pollen is gone, we enjoy this season very much.
Today I went outside to blow and hose off some of the pollen.
Thought I would share some..first here is the bottom of the allergy list.

The bottom 10 -- those considered best for people with spring allergies -- are:
100. Harrisburg, Pa.
99. San Diego
98. Daytona Beach, Fla.
97. Boise City, Idaho
96. Miami
95. Oxnard, Calif.
94. Fresno. Calif.
93. Denver
92. Los Angeles
91. Colorado Springs, Colo.

That explains while we lived in Florida for nine years I never had a problem.

I have a gorgeous lady banks bush right near my kitchen window that is out of control right now.

I believe these pine trees are the pollen culprits.
I love petunias, they are my big go to flowers, so easy to maintain.

Our Japanese maple is in full bloom now too.

hmmm...change color or not change color?

These are still my winter plantings, everything on the back deck is in need of sprucing up soon.

See you later for my newbie party.
Have a wonderful Sunday!

This is so interesting!!!

I went to college in Greensboro, NC for 4 years and I don't remember getting allergies while in school, but now get them when I come back to the tri-state area (NY, NJ & CT) where I grew up and lived after college.

However, I am now thinking that is a different kind of allergy, not spring! They say there is an allergy that is heavy in that area, but not sure exactly what it is!

So, long story short...hehe...I supposed Spring is not an allergy I am allergic too...but I live in LA now and it is low on the list along with Colorado Springs, CO where I used to spend a lot of time visiting my older sister, brother-in-law and nephew, so, perhaps I just never noticed!

Anywho, very interesting and thanks for posting it, Debbie...I hope you can find a cure for yours! :)

Liesl :)

When I lived in Colorado and Georgia I had no problem. Then I moved to Fayetteville, NC I thought I was dying every spring. Dogwoods, bradford pears, pine, grass. UGH!
In Raleigh now and they arent as bad thank goodness for Claritin.

It's unreal isn't it? I think it gets worse every year, then again it could be because I get older every year. lol

Girl I live right in the middle of two of those places....it is bad around here for those who are allergic. My poor friend from NC moved here a few years ago and she's sick all the time...even had that nasal surgery and it still hasn't helped!
I'm glad I'm not allergic....the seasons don't bother me at all around here!

Oh my gosh, I can't believe we're not listed!! The DFW area is well known for the horrendous allergy problems. Personally, yesterday & today have been extremely bad. I've spent a lot of time in bed with a migraine, nausea, congestion, you name it. Yucky stuff!

I LOVE those roses...and any flower really. :-)

Hope you have a great day!

Our city doesn't make either list, but Computer Genius & Snuggle Bunny are just miserable with allergies right now. Whirling Dervish's won't kick in until late spring through summer, unless we travel to Rochester, and then he's stuffed up something awful.

I only have fall allergies, but I make CG buy my meds because I refuse to get on the government's "meth-cooker" list. He's already on the list since his allergies are ridiculous.

Hi Debbie. :) Everything is already looking beautiful at your house. I absolutely love Japanese Maples and just haven't had any luck with them. It just seems to be too hot and dry here in the summer. Good thing I can admire them in other yards.

My son lives outside of Charlotte and said the pollen has been much worse this year. The rains do help wash some of it away.

Ah yes, Spring allergies... I used to be terribly allergic to freshly cut grass and other seasonal allergies but I'm cured now! All I do is take honey (in my coffee), yup if it was "made" within 25 nautical miles of your home and you take it all year round - I guess you get immune. Whatever - it works for me!
