It's a surprise!

Joining
Rhoda for her home MAY'd summer recipe party.
We have parties to attend all weekend. Unfortunately Mike, is working:(
I usually wind up making dessert for these parties, and it is always a hit.
I adore my trifle bowl.  If you do not have one, I highly recommend you get one.
There are all sorts of recipes for desserts, but I decided to make up my own.
First, you train your older son to help you in the kitchen. THis is a good thing, and someday his wife will thank you!

First layer the bottom of the bowl, with your cake.
I was lazy and did not bake one. Pound cake works wonderful!

This is what I used for the dessert.
Two sliced pound cakes
Can of pineapple
Can of mandarin oranges
Lemon pudding
cool whip
Walnuts
Maraschino cherries to top
Layer cake,
Pudding,
cool whip,
fruit,
continue to the top.
It was a delicious surprise.

I am the trifle maker in my family & they all go nuts when I make one! They are so easy & yummy! I usually make mine w/angel food cake, haven't tried the pound cake yet, will have to! The one I've made the most is angel food cake, cool whip, vanilla pudding, straw., blueberries & rasberries! It is awesome, you should try it sometime! I plan on posting it next time I make it.

You've discovered my secret! I was lucky to find a bowl at the local dime store-really! My favorite recipe so far was: Boxed ginger bread-baked-cream cheese flavored pudding and Cool Whip folded together-stacked and sprinkled with some really cute Christmas sprinkles. I often sprinkle the cake in any recipe with cream sherry or a flavored liqueur. Everyone thinks you are a genius when you present one of these!

OK now I have to go get a Trifle bowl and here all this time I never knew I needed one and now I can't wait to make a Trifle! That reminds me of the episode on Friends years ago when Rachel made a Trifle and accidently put peas in it! Oh the silly things we remember...
Happy Mothers Day!
