Primanti brothers Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania my take on the place!

By now you are all aware of our bad eating habits.
Well they are not bad all the time, just on occasion.
Vacation being one of them for certain. On our very long road trip home Mike had it on his mind to make a pit stop in Pittsburgh, PA at a place he saw on the food network. This was the ORIGINAL Primanti brothers.

These pictures were all taken from the car

I tell ya, I would have loved to spend more time there, Pittsburgh looked like  a  very COOL city.

We ordered our lunch to go. While the boys were walking Lucy, I saw a guy actually walk up to the car next to me and take a pee...yes I could not believe it...It was right near this sign.

I thought to myself WOW, they sure are free birds here!

OK I am going to be honest and tell you..I hated it!
Just look at this thing!
Mike and the boys LOVED, LOVED, LOVED it...I guess it is a guy sandwich.
I suppose the guy that I had just seen pee did not help my appetite either.
You actually do see fries, and coleslaw on this sandwich. I guess this is there signature sandwich.
Not for me.
There are several locations of Primanti brothers, some even in Florida. In fact when I was pregnant with Jack in Florida Mike took me to one.  For some reason, I could eat anything at that time.
Ever been to a Primanti brothers?

HI Debbie Dear! Now that's one pretty yellow bridge! No, I haven't heard of that restaurant and poking everything on that sandwich doesn't sound appealing to me either!
Boy, that guy was bold to take his leak right smack in front of you and God and everybody! I think that would turn my appetite too!
Glad you've had a nice trip.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

I think I'm with you. I don't think I could've enjoyed lunch right after seeing the guy do that. It definitely looks like a guy's sandwich with the fries and coleslaw right in there. :)

That is gross that some man would do that. I would say that was indecent exposure. I laughed when you said just look at this thing. Doesn't look very good for sure. Never heard of this place.

Never even heard of the place, and I am with you on the sandwich... that holds no appeal to me!!! Ugh!!!
Peeing on the street. Sweet. Just added a little extra oomph to the trip! Gross!!!! Men did that in Germany all the time. Anywhere. Disgusting!!!

Yikes....a guy peeing on the street? Not good.

That sandwich doesn't look like my type of food. So, I will make sure I don't eat at that place, if I ever get back to Pittsburgh.

That sandwich confuses me. Is the bread uncut with the stuff on top? And what an odd combination, but who am I to throw stones - I have intense cravings for garbage plates every now and again(native Rochesterian, remember.)

Peeing in the street? Eeeeew.

I have never heard of them either. What else was on it besides the slaw and fries? Definitely an odd combo.

I saw a guy peeing in the airport garage in Germany. It was a long time ago but I haven't forgot it!

Interesting post Debbie. I was not impressed with the sandwich either, and as you say, the peeing thing would have put me off also. Apart from that, it sounded like you had a good time.

Wow, I can't believe you were in my neck of the woods...

I can't stomach those sandwiches either and not everyone pees in the middle of the street here (now peeing in the woods is another story lol)....some people are disgusting! I don't think I could have eaten after seeing that either - yuck!

I've been there a few times and it's not my type of sandwich either, my sons and hubby love them though so I guess it is a guy sandwich! Myself I'd rather have a hotdog:)
Not everyone pees outside like that here in Pittsburgh believe me, he would have been taken away if the cops had seen him!
I can't tell what bridge that is, we have so many here, can't believe you were only 30 miles from me!

I have been there too. I think I ate the sandwich with a fork. I lived in PA until I was two. Was born an hour north in Sharon, PA. Beautiful state. We went back to watch a friend brother play for the Pirates. That's when I had the sandwich.

You're right, it probably is a guy sandwich. I don't think I'd like it either...too much "stuff" for me. Although, the peeing guy certainly didn't help. Just be glad he wasn't the one who made your sandwich! Ewww!

Fries on a sandwich does not appeal to me either. I looked at their menu and don't think coleslaw would be that good on some of the sandwiches.
I saw 2 young boys relieve them self in the neighborhood a while back. :( The father of one of them has a my child does no wrong mentality.

Oh, I'll have to show this to Kyran when he gets home today! He would looooove to try that sandwich, he said there's a bunch of sports players who go there whenever they're in the area. I don't think I would enjoy it but I don't know!

My friend and I were on our walk a few weeks ago and we went under a tunnel that goes under the freeway, a guy was standing there taking a whizz! He did apologize while we were walking by tho:)

Well, my appetite would have been lacking after seeing that guy do his thing. :-( The sandwich is not appealing to me at all so I guess I would have been starving later on.

I've never been to Pittsburgh, but I had a Pittsburgh Steak Salad in a restaurant in Harrisburg PA and it had french fries in/on the salad. I thought it kind of defeated the purpose of a salad ;)

I've never eaten there before. I'm not sure about the sandwich. I like all that stuff but not so sure about it together.

Pittsburgh is an awesome city and Primanti Bros is the best! They have many sandwiches to choose from so maybe another would suit your fancy better? Love, love, love the place, just wish I lived closer!

Don't take my word, you have to try it yourself LOL...like I said my boys and husband loved it. THere were many other wonderful choices, I just chose to follow my boys lead, and went with their pick.

Love Pittsburgh too, it's a gorgeous, fun city. I spent a good deal of time there, you owe it to yourself to head back.

I haven't been to Pittsburgh in years. The Brother's were probably just a twinkle in their dad's eye at the time. Never heard of the restaurant.
I didn't find the sandwich appealing looking and I hadn't even the pee guy. I like to check out my food separately first. A lot of restaurants have these monster Sig sandwiches and non of them really look good.
Sounds like you were having a great time though, that is what counts.
Love ya girl, Ginger
