So we've been told many times!
However, if you are patient, hand drill thousands of holes in your lawn,
plant zoysia plugs...(info
here)
you too will have green grass.
It has taken 5 years to finally take off, and this year, the reward was worth the wait.
As Summer is coming to end, it is bitter sweet.
As hot as it was, and as busy as we were,
all the fun we had...
I will miss certain aspects of the Summer Season.
I enjoyed my boys being home this summer...and believe it or not, there are parts of the day when I miss their little chatter, bickering and in and out of the pantry runs.
I enjoyed summer projects, and all the fun, bright colors of Summer...
Our back yard dream is almost complete...
we are just waiting on a few more things, and Mike can complete the
Pizza oven. It has been quite the job I tell ya...
Pretty much everything that could go wrong, did go wrong...but in the end, it will all work out, and soon enough we will be cooking up some pizza's!
The boys can't wait!
The leaves are starting to change ever so slightly...
Our back yard is so gorgeous when in peak.
Today the high is around 70 degrees...not an ounce of sun in the sky...
However, we sure have some green grass...so YES,
the grass is sometimes greener on the other side!
Have a great day!
NEWBIE party still going on

your boys will be even more popular when the pizza ovens are up and running. You will be able to make bread and slow cooked meats in that oven as well right. You home is lovely and its been so good to meet and get to know you this summer,
aww...thanks Laurie, I feel the same way about you! You have been a wonderful blogging friend. XO
We are so jealous of your Zoysia grass. Tim really is so tired of trying to keep up with the weeds and watering of a non Southern grass and wants to install Zoysia, but I'm hoping we aren't here in 5 years! Your grass and yard look wonderful. The last few weeks of summer are my favorite, in terms of weather...not too hot and not cold yet!
Wow that is gorgeous!!! I love it!
Look at all that green and such great grass too...love it!
Liesl :)

That was a nice recap of some of your summer and the grass really is green. That is quite ambitious to build a pizza oven in the backyard.

Your green grass is beautiful! Love your entire yard and the pizza oven! You'll be the hit of the neighborhood with that! Your home is just lovely!
You have had such a great summer to look back on! How nice this fall will be to sit outdoors by that oven, happy in knowing that you have accomplished so much. Your grass looks wonderful...I was wondering what sort of mulch you have under your trees. Your house looks really beautiful from the front!
Hope you are having a great week!
XO,
Jane
I guess having green grass in the South is really a big challenge, but yours looks beautiful!
I can't wait until your yard is finished. I'm going to be very jealous of that pizza oven. ;D
Your yard is definitely stunning. The pizza oven is going to be fabulous and all of your trees and plantings are beautiful. Such a lovely home. Hugs, Marty
Hi Debbie
I'd love to have a pizza oven-- what fun that will be for you all!
Even though I've been an empty nester for awhile I still get nostalgic about "back to school" time. I spent 10 days with my daughter in Colorado to help her buy her wedding dress, and I also had lots of fun with my grandboys who live there. Now I am back in rainy NY ready for the autumn season to arrive. It is my favorite time of the year :)
Hugs, Pat
Your front yard looks so pretty Debbie! Your house is going to be the place to be once that pizza oven is finished, wish I lived closer LOL! Martina
Love your grass. It's gorgeous - along with all your other yard jewelry. Yep, it's almost time for a season change but you wouldn't know it here since we have a heat wave this week.
We're having cooler weather here too but unfortunately it's not here to stay.
How wonderful to be wrapping up that back yard project. We better have pictures of that first pizza party. Your GREEN lawn looks great too! xo Diana
Your lawn is lovely!!
Ours is green this year, too! A timer on the sprinklers helped :)
A pizza oven? Too cool!
I miss Summer only a tad bit. I want Fall!!
Hope you are having a blessed day!

Your yard is beautiful.....I have been bitten by the ol' green jealous bug!!! Your backyard project is looking great! I know you will spend many many hours of enjoyment out there! Once again....bitten by the ol' jealous bug! Thanks for sharing!
Lovely post, Debbie Dear! Oh, the pizza oven sounds like so much fun. I know your boys will love it! You're very fortunate to have green grass. So many yards around where we live are just burned up because of the heat and water bans. Because of our big trees and shade and an occasional water sprinkling at night, our lawn is still green too.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Debbie, your lawn is very pretty! It was worth the wait!
I can't wait to see you pizza oven done. You are the only other person I know that will have a pizza oven. We will have to have a blog pizza party together.
I love zoysia grass! My aunt has it and so does my dad and it is like walking on carpet! Your yard is just gorgeous and I can't wait to see this pizza oven! Today was awesome down here. 87, sunny and perfect!
Your yard looks terrific! Can't wait for the final reveal of the pizza oven. Thanks for sharing.
Your yard is beautiful Debbie, and I will take a slice of pizza when the oven is done:)
Your grass looks sooooooo good. I am jealous. I could just get down and roll in it. Same weather here. Gloomy and cool. I was gone all day with my mom and sister then came home and went off with the Mr. Now I am pooped.
Your lawn is just gorgeous! Pioneer Woman put up a steak pizza recipe today that I bet the boys would love!
Love your gold pot with the white impatiens. Your area must not have suffered as much heat as mine. Glad we have had the rain for the past few days, for it has been greatly needed. Let's just say the yards have been brown, not green.
Sounds like your whole family will be popular once the pizza oven is installed. I bet that will be a lot of fun to use for entertaining.
Isn't it great that in September the grass is GREEN. So often our hot and dry July & August months leave it brown and crackling under foot! Your yard is beautiful Debbie!
Oh 70 sounds so great, we are still in the 90's bring it on!! Somewhere I missed the building of a pizza oven, oh that sounds like fun!
Carol
How fun to have a pizza oven! Your yard is so pretty!
Pam
My poor yard is scorched..burn holes in the lawn from having things sat on it with temps of 110..it's a mess...and just look at yours! NOT fair! :)
Everything looks wonderful..just wonderful.
greener grass needs mowing too ... haha
yours is lovely
we're stuck in the 70's too bu with some sun ... finally
We can't put in a pizza oven.......I would be 500 lbs! seriously! Your yard is amazing. Thanks for sharing it with us. 8^)
That oven is going to be fab! So much you can do with it and lots of entertaining out there.
I have to tell you, I couldn't be happier that this summer is over! I know we'll have more heat but not 68 days worth of triple digits again. These cooler nights and days have just been heaven! I know when you have kids, it's difficult to see the warm weather end.
Love your home ~ such green foliage everywhere! We're not accustomed to seeing that around here. Have fun!
xo
Pat
