The grass is never greener on the other side!

So we've been told many times!
However, if you are patient, hand drill thousands of holes in your lawn,
plant zoysia plugs...(info here)
you too will have green grass.
It has taken 5 years to finally take off, and this year, the reward was worth the wait.

As Summer is coming to end, it is bitter sweet.
As hot as it was, and as busy as we were,
 all the fun we had...
I will miss certain aspects of the Summer Season.
I enjoyed my boys being home this summer...and believe it or not, there are parts of the day when I miss their little chatter, bickering and in and out of the pantry runs.

I enjoyed summer projects, and all the  fun, bright colors of Summer...

Our back yard dream is almost complete...
we are just waiting on a few more things, and Mike can complete the
Pizza oven.  It has been quite the job I tell ya...

Pretty much everything that could go wrong, did go wrong...but in the end, it will all work out, and soon enough we will be cooking up some pizza's!
 The boys can't wait!

The leaves are starting to change ever so slightly...
Our back yard is so gorgeous when in peak.

Today the high is around 70 degrees...not an ounce of sun in the sky...
However, we sure have some green grass...so YES,
the grass is sometimes greener on the other side!
Have a great day!

NEWBIE party still going on

We are so jealous of your Zoysia grass. Tim really is so tired of trying to keep up with the weeds and watering of a non Southern grass and wants to install Zoysia, but I'm hoping we aren't here in 5 years! Your grass and yard look wonderful. The last few weeks of summer are my favorite, in terms of weather...not too hot and not cold yet!

That was a nice recap of some of your summer and the grass really is green. That is quite ambitious to build a pizza oven in the backyard.

You have had such a great summer to look back on! How nice this fall will be to sit outdoors by that oven, happy in knowing that you have accomplished so much. Your grass looks wonderful...I was wondering what sort of mulch you have under your trees. Your house looks really beautiful from the front!

Hope you are having a great week!

Jane

I guess having green grass in the South is really a big challenge, but yours looks beautiful!
I can't wait until your yard is finished. I'm going to be very jealous of that pizza oven. ;D

Hi Debbie

I'd love to have a pizza oven-- what fun that will be for you all!
Even though I've been an empty nester for awhile I still get nostalgic about "back to school" time. I spent 10 days with my daughter in Colorado to help her buy her wedding dress, and I also had lots of fun with my grandboys who live there. Now I am back in rainy NY ready for the autumn season to arrive. It is my favorite time of the year :)
Hugs, Pat

Love your grass. It's gorgeous - along with all your other yard jewelry. Yep, it's almost time for a season change but you wouldn't know it here since we have a heat wave this week.

Lovely post, Debbie Dear! Oh, the pizza oven sounds like so much fun. I know your boys will love it! You're very fortunate to have green grass. So many yards around where we live are just burned up because of the heat and water bans. Because of our big trees and shade and an occasional water sprinkling at night, our lawn is still green too.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

Love your gold pot with the white impatiens. Your area must not have suffered as much heat as mine. Glad we have had the rain for the past few days, for it has been greatly needed. Let's just say the yards have been brown, not green.

Sounds like your whole family will be popular once the pizza oven is installed. I bet that will be a lot of fun to use for entertaining.

That oven is going to be fab! So much you can do with it and lots of entertaining out there.

I have to tell you, I couldn't be happier that this summer is over! I know we'll have more heat but not 68 days worth of triple digits again. These cooler nights and days have just been heaven! I know when you have kids, it's difficult to see the warm weather end.

Love your home ~ such green foliage everywhere! We're not accustomed to seeing that around here. Have fun!
