Head and Shoulders Eucalyptus Itchy scalp care review {$50.00 Visa card giveaway}
Not sure about you, ladies and gents, but this time of year takes a toll on my hair and skin. I experience changes I am not personally fond of.
DRYNESS, first and foremost. I suppose the cooler temps and the heat being turned on are the major factors.
When the BlogHer network offered an opportunity to review Head & Shoulders Eucalyptus Itchy scalp care products, I was a bit hesitant at first. I seem to get hooked on a product with my hair and do not change. We tend to stick with what we know.
HOWEVER, I do experience a dry scalp and some minor flaking, so I thought to myself: what do I have to lose? I never have used Head & Shoulders and went into this review completely open-minded.
First, here is what Head & Shoulders Eucalyptus itchy scalp claims to offer.
*Promises to ease three scalp and dandruff problems: dryness, itchiness and sensitivity.
* With 84% of surveyed scalp issues sufferers concerned about these issues, Head & Shoulders has combined the effectiveness of their Hydra Zinc formula to alleviate these conditions, leaving your hair beautifully flake free.
HOW IT WORKS* Dandruff is caused by a combination of factors, namely the presence of scalp oils, the fungus Malassezia globosa, and what scientists call a susceptibility to skin irritation (or reaction to the presence of the fungus.)
*Beyond leaving behind a clean scalp, the foundation for great looking hair, Head & Shoulders's new collection goes one step further to excite and indulge your senses with fresh, naturally inspired fragrances including almond oil, eucalyptus and aloe vera.
So as you can see, they make some pretty bold claims. I decided to put it to the test.
* I received my new product, and I decided to get right to it.
* The consistency also surprised me. I thought it would be thicker, which it is not. I used about a quarter-sized amount, as my hair is shorter. I thought the shampoo had a great hand feel.
* It lathered like a dream. At some point I was expecting a major tingling, again because of the eucalyptus. NO, not major at all, however enough that I felt the sensation working into my scalp.
* Next, I moved on to the conditioner. The conditioner consistency was like most. I used a smidgen, like a dime size. This is when I felt a bit more tingling happening, and I could feel my hair to be very, very soft. It rinsed out easily.
* Now comes the fun part: blow drying and styling like normal. Remember, I am the girl who uses the same stuff every day. I was anxious to see the results.
* My hair is very fine, and I am not one to use a whole lot of stuff, gels, moose, I do not use any of it, as I do not like the residue they leave.
* Within a few minutes of blow drying, my hair was starting to look very shiny, had a very nice, almost like thicker feeling, yet not heavy like with a product in it.
* My hair felt great. I continued to feel tingling, but very light, nothing that was burning or overwhelming. I even felt a slight tingling on my neck, I suppose that is where some had run down in the shower.
* After blow drying, I added my quick spritz of hair spray, and I was good to go.
I used Head & Shoulders twice a week for two weeks, as recommended on the bottle (no more than twice a week.)
I am pleased to announce I have a new winter shampoo. My hair and scalp feel great. I have had no itching, and absolutely no flaking.
I did not alter this picture in any way; this is me, my hair and I!

Your hair so is so sassy & cute! Just like you ;) Both my boys use H&S. It's all my hubby has ever used. I steal some once in a while... just in case. lol. I'll give this one a shot, I bet Austin would like it.
I have used Head and Shoulders every winter since I arrived in the Carolina's. It works great. Will have to try this new formula two times a week.
Thanks for the chance to win. I don't change my hair routine, but my husband and son do as they have exactly the same problem you describe. I just pile on the lotion as my legs seem to be tons drier in winter.

You are so darned cute and your hair looks shiny and wonderful. H&S is the product my daughter uses daily. She has long, curly hair with an itchy scalp...and she LOVES the products! xo Diana
Actually my boys use Head and Shoulders.. But not for their hair.. They have really bad Eczema on their skin and Head and Shoulders helps with the Itchy and Dryness....Your hair looks Sparkly Clean.. :)
Hello there pretty Debbie,
I have noticed my hair can be so much drier in the winter so I use a very moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. I would love to enter your giveaway. Who couldn't use a little more spending money this time of year?
xo,
Danielle
I use alot of lotion and moisturizer.

Debbie, I just love your hair cut and feathers. I have sensitive skin, so I add extra skin cream to my face, plus conditioner to my hair. My son and husband use H&S, but I must by this one for them.
Thanks for offering the giveaway.
Great Head and Shoulders Eucalyptus sweepstakes.
Would love to win.
I don't tweet but I will go to the front porch and tweet about this to the little birds. Hugs,
I would know that smile anywhere. Hey, are those turkey feathers in your hair? Looks like you are good to go for the family and holiday. Haircut on the list for tomorrow here. I wonder if my salon does feathers?....
Sounds like a wonderful idea for winter hair ! Easy enough to try !
Great review! I will try this for sure! My skin and scalp suffer this time of year! I could use that visa too! Fingers crossed!
Debbie
Your hair looks terrific and very shiny. I could use a Visa gift card!
I usually use the same shampoo during winter, but I use a heavier conditioner. If not, my fine hair would be flying everywhere!
Debbie, your hair looks sparkling. You look great!
For winter, I use lotion daily on my dry skin, but just the same routine for my hair. I shampoo every night. ;-)
Wow I would have never even known it existed thank you for sharing will have to have him try it and the scent I know I would love so I may have to try using it even though I have normal hair!!!
Debbie , you have the prettiest hair, very shiny and great color. I love your little multi-strips too not sure if it is your hair or braided with string :-) But it certainly gives you a sweet look.. --There you can do a post on in the future :-) I'm sure you are having a marvelous time with your mom and sister and your husband and children are enjoying the visit too. Cause when mama's happy everybody is happy "-)
What a great giveaway. Who couldn't use a $50 visa card this time of the year. I have to use a ton of lotion this time of year otherwise my hands start to crack.
I don't change too much of my routine, although my skin does tend to get itchy & dry, so I use alot more lotion in the winter months.
You really do look great, Debbie! I will use more conditioner during the winter months and may even change shampoos to one that doesn't strip my hair as much. I use more lotion and cream on my skin, too! Thanks! ♥
Hello you shinny beauty! I use conditioner in the winter and never in the summer...Oh I would love to win!!
Carol
You are such a gorgeous girl!
Your hair looks so shiny and healthy too.
Such a nice giveaway!

Cute haircut! I may have to try this shampoo some time. I sometimes have to use Nizoral, but it has been hard to find lately. Please enter me in this great giveaway!
I am going to try this. I have been using the "other" brand but hate the smell. chedeb5353@hotmail.com
You are so cute Debbie! Love the feathers in your hair too!!
I have seborrheic dermatitis (ugh!) and have a lot more problems with that in the cooler weather. I use head and shoulders anyway, but haven't tried this product yet. As for winter care, I usually use a thicker moisturizer in the winter months to protect my skin from the elements.
Thanks for trying and sharing. Itchy scalp should go away and looks like this does the trick. Sign me up.
So pretty Debbie!! I always have to increase my lotion usage in the winter months because my skin gets so dry!! Great giveaway!
Cute picture Debbie and your hair looks amazing! I use a lot more lotion in the winter months, my skin gets so dry and I hate that.
Hi Debbie,
You are a beautiful gal inside and out :)
Blessings,
~Marie
Your hair looks great Debbie, nice and shiny. My problem isn't flakes or itching, but rather thin hair. When I hit my 40's I noticed a change with "the change". When I was still at home my family used H&S and it did take care of those dry scalp problems.
Your hair looks beautiful, Debbie...so shiny! I usually let mine grow a little in the winter, but need a good shape up!
Hi Debbie, wow love your hair! count me in, at this point in time, my "thin Dad's hair" that I got! LOL could use a little help with some new product! :) Hugs Kat =^.^=
What a cute haircut! I have been doing the curly girl thing where you use conditioner to wash your hair. It sounds odd, but I think it works and it doesn't dry out as bad.
you look so pretty Debbie!...great giveaway!!!! Thanks!
You are adorable ... will try H and S. My hair is colored and thin. I used something one time for itchy scalp and it pulled the color. Took care of the itch. Great giveaway. Audrey Z

Love your hair. Looks good on you. I have to use a thicker/heavier lotion during the winter months because I have extremely dry skin. I also use lotion more than once a day.

I use shea butter on my hands every day and extra moisturizer on my face too in the winter
My hair feels drier in winter, and flat from wearing hats..Wash my hair and use a deep conditioner in the winter more than I do in the summer. Hardly ever wear eyeshadow during the summer, when winter hits I start wearing again. I change my nail polish a bit and wear more glittery golds, green, or reds for the Holidays.

I definitely use lotion more in the winter than the summer.
