Home decor vignettes {tips on creating your own}
I had created many, however, I never knew the term.
Christmas decor in the kitchen is coming.
There is the roo, for those of you that asked, he went behind the stove.
My new roo cookie jar, compliments of my MIL! Good cookies, and a great new Roo!
Here are 8 tips from HGTV.com on creating your own beautiful home decor vignettes.
If your arrangement of objects is in a dark corner, it won't be seen and the effect will be lost. Try building your vignette around a lamp.
If your room is formal, a symmetrical design works best. If the room is casual, asymmetrical groupings are better.
Use items in shades that complement the dominant color in a room. Silk flowers or artificial fruit are good ways to introduce color into a grouping of items.
Place several objects of similar shape, size and color together in odd numbers for maximum impact. Groups of three or five work particularly well and are stronger visually than a group of two or four.
Use small pedestals to elevate items. Try stacking books to create a platform for smaller objects.
Group candles, for example, or family vacation photos. If the vacation photos are from the beach, add a seashell.
Place objects from the back of the flat surface to the front instead of in a straight line the length of the surface. Placing objects atop a mirror, or leaning them against a mirror that's on the wall, is an easy way to create a sense of dimension.

I think when you have that sun coming in like in your first picture, it will all be good, Debbie! Love that chalkboard and your new cookie jar roo is wonderful. Points to the MIL! : ) The one thing I really miss here in the new place is all the windows and natural light I had in my old house, especially in the kitchen.
Great vignettes and I hate the way it looks around here once all the leaves are gone, too. I look out my wall of windows and see bare gray trees. Ugh. Good thing I have color inside just like you do.
beautiful , just such a lovely home you have, I for one can't wait to see what you do for christmas,
Debbie you always mix it up and have the best vignettes! I love the chalkboard!
WOW!!! You have got some Great light coming into that Kitchen of yours...That Chalkboard is so very Pretty....
Well, you might not have known what they were called, girlie, but you were sure creating beautiful settings!
I love what you have done with all your Fall stuff so far but I am axious to see what you do for Christmas, too. xo Diana
Fabulous! Thanks so much for the tips. My favorite is the chalkboard tray. Love that you did the edges in gold. So sumptuous!
Hugs,

Hi Debbie Dear! I love your vignettes and especially where the sun is pouring in! My first encounter with the word vignette was from my friend who owned a furniture store. She would say she was going down to the store and set up some vignettes in the little rooms. I was too embarrassed to ask her what that meant! :) I finally figured it out.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia;)
Great tips Debbie! Your vignettes always look wonderful!
Beautiful vignettes Debbie and looking forward to the block party!
You always create beautiful vignettes Debbie. And your kitchen is gorgeous!
Wonderful, vignettes, Debbie! Your photos are great, too!
Love your vignettes Debbie! YOur home is sooo cozy especially for the winter months!!
Love the photos and the one with the sunlight streaming in is just beautiful. I had forgotten to ask you where Mr Roo went...glad to see he's ok. :-) I watched leaves fall so quickly yesterday...they've covered the lawn today and it's so sad to me. I hate to see the trees bare. This complex is built in the midst of huge, old trees and the neighborhood is the same so they are gorgeous when "dressed".

You are a vignette master, Debbie! Love all of the special touches you add, that squirrel is just adorable, and I also love the cute blue stand next to your counter. Thanks for passing on the great tips!!

Beautiful vignettes Debbie! I have to tell you I didn't know what a vignette or a cloche was until I started blogging too. Looking forward to all the parties.

Great vignettes. Love the chalkboard. And I am with you - it is down right ugly with all the leaves gone.
Lovely.. all of it! I agree, if the suns shining.. its all good!
You have so many pretty vignettes in your kitchen! I'm jealous! You're lucky to have the sun shining too. As you know, the sun doesn't always shine around here this time of year.
Can I just say how stinkin' adorable that glass jar with the pumpkin seeds & pumpkin is? Too cute.
I have always loved your vignettes, and I better get busy around here looks like there are parties to go to!
Oh Debbie, you always do the best posts, so pretty and informative. I am definitely going to give that chalk board tray a try. Glad to see Mr. Roo can still see over the kitchen for you, where ever did you find him? It gets gloomy here in the Northeast for sure, when the leaves are gone.
Great tips. Your vignettes are so cute! I'm like you about the trees. I really feel for people who live in areas where there are no trees. At least we know ours will bloom again!
Love your little chalkboard tray you made. Did you draw the rooster on there? So cute!
Oh I love all of your vignettes. The Roos are fabulous and I love the use of the basket and the silver tray chalkboard. Way too cute. Thanks tons for joining TTT. Hugs, marty
It's those vignettes that really make a home.
All great tips! The sun shining in on your first "vignette" is so pretty!
I'd never heard of vignettes either until recently, when I went to a ladies tea at church. Just goes to show we're never too old to learn something new ;-)
Great tips, Debbie! Your kitchen looks super inviting! Popping over from Tuesday's Treasures. :)
Awesome vignettes! Your home is just beautiful, Debbie!
Love your chalkboard tray with the chicken on it. Everything looks so homey. Hmmm, I don't think I can stick to a theme.....ah well! I have stocked up this year on pumpkin and each time I go to the store I buy one more. I like it all during the year and they always run out here! I like it in chili, in pancakes, in scones, in muffins, etc! Have a great day!
Love all your vignettes! Funny most things don't need a name. We just do it from instinct. You have natural talent and it doesn't need a name.
Great MIL and cookie jar. Hugs, Ginger
What a cute cute cookie jar. Your whole autumn kitchen looks warm and cozy.
I must be SUCH an oddball...I love wintertime..I love everything about it, now that I don't have to get out and drive in snow and ice. I love staying in, all warm, before a nice fire....and all the good things that go with winter.
ANYway, I am so anxious to start Christmas decorating.
