lampshade makeovers, stenciling projects, chalk paint, and a chair makeover

Good morning everyone!
It's Sunday already. Where does time go?
Today I will feature, a lampshade makeover, stenciling fabric, an Annie Sloan chalk paint project, and chair makeover...WOW the talents out here.

You know how much I love lampshade makeovers, and embellishments...

I loved what Meegan from what Meegan makes did to this baby.

So cute!

Next, another project after my own heart...stenciling fabric and making a pillow from

What  a beautiful and unique pillow, all for a less than $2.00! My kind of project here.

Then there is the dreamy picture frame makeover from Swede Dreamer with Annie Sloan duck egg blue chalk paint.

You have to see the before to really appreciate it...this is gorgeous!

This last project from Wren from Easy Breezy is a real show stopper.
The chair before, was quite hideous...well NOT that bad, but the NOW..is WOW!

What a nice job Wren! She actually has two chair makeovers in this post.

See you later this afternoon for the newbie party.

Feel free to grab my crow button if I featured you.

M is for MADNESS, and yet more chalk paint projects in the making.

This Red M, just had a bad memory attached to it.
Every time I would look at it, I though of THAT day!
I really messed up!
If you care to read it go HERE
( FUNNY to see my thoughts last year) And I said I would NEVER be in a magazine!
I happened to have a little sample of Chateau grey chalk paint and just had to use it.
The summer read has not been picked up once yet!
ahhh..but the M looks so much better. I think it is a more Mature color too.
I did not distress it, I liked how creamy and smooth it looked.
That's all I got for tonight, but it sure makes me happier to walk in my son's room, and not
see RED!

I will be joining:

WOW me Wednesday party.

Something borrowed, something blue, some more chalk paint projects for you!

If you have been reading my blog long enough, you have figured out,
I am a big fan of blue. Pretty much every shade of it!
In our kitchen I just have a splash here, and a dash there.
I like to keep the flow going from room to room.
Let me show you my splash and my dash first...
Pottery set given by my FIL

Rooster pitcher matching the platter behind the stove given by my Mom for my Birthday this year!

Dollar tree vases

Cobalt blue platter bought at Target a few years ago

Deco Soup Tureen, my Mom scored for us!

Cook book stand, bought also at Target way back when. Old cook book from the early 1900's, Some really neat recipes. Oh and my new vintage cheese grater I scored for 25 cents.
You all remember these stools I decided to makeover in the Winter time right?
You may also remember these stools I purchased from CSN from a giveaway
well....I just had to try this color blue out.
So I decided to redo the CSN stools. I of course made my own feed sack. This is temporary, as I do have some actual vintage feed sacks coming from my FIL. That guy has everything imaginable in his basement.  Well he did, until he started giving it to us.
Such a pretty shade of blue. I think it all ties in now.
The boys of course noticed first thing.  They thought they were pretty cool!
Have a wonderful weekend everyone!
Hope I inspired you with some color!
Quick tutorial to follow soon.
Mike is off starting tomorrow.
It is our 16 year wedding Anniversary and we will be celebrating tomorrow night, hopefully all weekend, at least that is my plan!

Scary storm hit our city!

Last night we were awakened by horrible, thunder, lightning and wind..
Our little city is known as the tree city.  It is gorgeous, and today, there is destruction and trees down everywhere. So far I hear of nothing tragic, so that we are very thankful for.

It was NOT the the thunder and lightning that woke me, it was the howling strong winds and all the debri hitting our windows.  My first reaction was to fly out of bed and get the boys from upstairs. I did just that and we laid in our closet until it passed.  It was scary and I felt like we were in a hurricane.  We have damage and debri today, and we are in urgent need of a tree guy.  We have a tree hanging over our house.

We are safe and I am so thankful for that.
I promised to announce the chalk paint winner and I did generate the winner through random.org.
I thank you all for joining in this giveaway.
 Congrats Allyson!

You all will not be seeing me for a few days.  We have a lot of work to do, and it is just shocking to go out there.  Again, thank GOD we are OK.  We are however suppose to get another storm come through, so we have to get as much cleaned up as possible.

The winds were so strong, it blew my heavy wrought iron table across the patio~
Everywhere you turn, there are trees down, and the city is doing a great job of removing them from the streets. Buses were running, and kids are in school.
This tree is hanging over our house.  The tree guy said he would do his best to get out here today.
Please keep your fingers crossed, because if he can't and we get another storm, this tree is coming down.
Be back soon!

Chalk paint giveaway and my chalk paint projects.

I am just busting at the seams to share this with you all...
By now, most of you have seen and have heard  all the rage with the Annie sloan Chalk paint!
First I want to share with you  a few of my recent projects.
I would love to paint every stitch of furniture with this awesome paint.
No priming, no sanding,(prior to application) just start painting and watch the magic happen. The distressing part is so much fun and easy too. The paint comes off in a powder form. 220 grit fine sandpaper works great!
BEST paint on the market for painting furniture
    •    Paint can be used on any surface- literally!
    •    Use on walls- for a soft matte effect or wax it for a polished plaster effect
    •    Can even be used to paint floors
    •    Paint can be applied to interior or exterior surfaces and furnishings

Guest room makeover, nightstand and headboard all done in duck egg blue.
cont...this is the night stand in the guest room.
Color is cream and as you can see it is a very pale warm yellow.
I did two pieces in our bedroom , and then I off set one piece to tie in with my curtains. I love how well the two shades compliment one another.
Again, duck egg blue

And here you can see the other night stand in our bedroom.
Still had some duck egg blue so I used it on this thrift chair.
NOW onto the giveaway....
This is just a collage to show you how well the two colors blend in the room with the curtains....To see my projects in full

All the pieces took two coats, then I used the clear wax, buffed and sanded to my liking.
