Best Friends!

You gals may be tired of me talking about a few of my BF's these days! I have been pretty lucky in the sense, first off, that I have a few, and secondly I have been able to see them both in the past few weeks.
First Lisa in Atlanta, and this past weekend Michele.
Funny both of these girls I met around the same time In Florida..
Michele and I have been friends for 13 years as well.
I met her in a playgroup.
Michele and I are so close, she is even Jack's godmother.
He sure does love her too!
Girls if you are stay at home Mom's and need to get out, look for a playgroup in your local area.
Best thing I ever did.

We had weekly activities with the kids, chatted while the kids played,
and in the meantime, as the kids friendships grew...so
did ours...
It has been so nice to watch her  boys grow along with mine.
I sure do miss her.
We would have coffee every single day together....
The boys would play, and I even have a shot like this when they were small in their undroo's
I don't think they would appreciate it though.
We have had a lot of good times, laughter, and some tears in between.
This was the first time Michele and her family were ever out on a lake on a boat.
We did lots of fishing and tried a little knee boarding too.
Alex was the only one successful of getting up on the board.
It is really difficult at first...
Next time around her boys will get it....
At the end of the day, we cleaned up pretty good, and after about 20 pictures..got a good one.
have a great night y'all. Thanks for letting me share my Best friend.
XO

Our Atlanta getaway!

I love that we have friends living in Georgia!
It is such a great place to visit, eat and site see.

This visit was pretty low key. A lot of pool side, eating, and laughter.
My friend Lisa and I have been friends for 13 years now.

I met her in our first home (South Florida) while trick or treating with Alex who at the time was 14 months old. Alex was Barney that year, and he was so cute when we went to her door. Her son Biagio who is a year older than Alex answered the door with his diaper, blanket and binky in his mouth.
The rest is history......
and history we do have. Our kids were always together.
Lisa and I are very different. She is a career woman,
a minimalist,
and she reads A LOT!
Kitchen

Formal living room

Pool

Family room, and as you can see my Lucy felt right at home.

I created this fruit, cheese and chocolate combo, it was delish.

Now trying to get a normal family picture of us all, was impossible..

Little trip to Roswell, very charming area, great restaurants.

These chicken tacos were to die for!

Another attempt at a family pic...FAIL!

Random shots, these flowers were so pretty.

Family pic, another fail!

This was so cool! Came from a Magnolia tree.
And Finally I got to meet my friend Kim from Savvy Southern Style.
We were laughing while taking this picture because
we almost contemplated just showing you gals an ear:)
One more thing for the road here girls...

Calling all you Southern Belles

Straight up here, "I'm a damn Yankee"! At least that is what I have been told.
What is a Yankee?

You think barbecue is a verb meaning "to cook outside."

You would rather vacation at Martha's Vineyard than Six Flags.

Instead of referring to two or more people as "y'all," you call them "you
guys," even if both of them are women.

You would never wear pink or an appliqued sweatshirt

You don't know what appliqued is.

So yeah, you get this gist of what a damn Yankee is, you may know one or be one yourself.

Moved from Buffalo, to Florida in 1997, then in 2006 we transplanted to South Carolina.  At that time we were called Half backs.  I kinda liked that name.

Since the very first day here,  I fell in love with the South. Took some getting use to. Being a Northerner for most of my life, it is very different culturally. I had never known a true Southerner ..

until I met my very sweet Southern Belle friend Laurian.  What is a Southern belle you ask?

Other current terms in popular culture related to "Southern belles" include "Ya Ya Sisters," "GRITS (Girls Raised In The South)," and "Sweet Potato Queens."

Laurian is a piano teacher for a local academy in our area.  Her boy and Jack started kindergarten together.  From that day forward I had my first Southern friend. Laurian grew up in Edisto Beach.

She can cook, sing, play piano, and has a tongue like a razor. Let me just say, she IS the funniest girl I have ever met in my life.  She can bust out into an impression of a little chinese lady, to a Mexican soprano singer, oh and she does a serious Impression of a Domino's delivery girl,  She is like a stand up act all in one.

So let me take you along our girls night out...in the kitchen with  Laurian. She whipped up some of her Mama's Shrimp creole.  It was mouth watering delicious.

It was a recipe she never had tried of her Mama's. Her Mom passed away two years ago from breast cancer. Laurian coming from a family of 5 girls, her Mama passed down cookbooks to each one of them.

Meet Cathy, she is originally from Indiana, but grew up most of her life In Arkansa. There she holds proudly a jar of moon shine cherries.  Let me just say, they are wicked..but good! Cathy is a midwestern girl in southern training, as Laurian would say.

Natalie on the left, Michele on the right.
Natalie is from Baltimore, she is a damn city Yankee
Michele is from Florida, she is a southern Yankee.
This is pretty much the night, laughter, food, drinks and fun.
Just look at this shrimp creole.  Laurian is suppose to be sharing the recipe with us, so I can do the same for you if you would like it.
That's my friend Barb down at the end.  Barb did not like any of the pics I took of her, so I thought this one was pretty good. Barb is from Wisconsin, yes she does like cheese.

So there you have a girls night out in our little town.  Such great fun.  I not only have these wonderful virtual friendships, I am blessed to have day to day friends that keep me smiling too. How can't I be happy?

To leave you with one more Southern belle saying...

"The bigger the hair the closer to God"

Have a great rest of the weekend.  Lucy will see you on Monday.
I may have the link up early.  Lucy needs a bath, and a new collar and of course her top hat.  See you then. No this is not Lucy, this is a dog with big hair.

Go show some bloggy love!

I have to say nothing tickles me more than receiving the nice comments and emails  that I receive from all you girls.  You have no idea how much you have all inspired me.  You have inspired me to be better, you have inspired me to lose weight and get more fit, you have inspired me, just to be me, and keep on that way.
I have a blogging friend who I see I am her one and only friend/follower.  She made a comment on a post of mine, and I of course went over to say Hi and thank her. She wrote the sweetest post about ME:)
I would love for you to go visit her, and perhaps be a new follower.  But shhhh.... don't tell her I sent you.
After all we are all a circle of friends!
Here is her link: THE BAM LIFE

P.S. I have to crack up, because I have never in my life been as many firsts as I have out here in blogland.  Apparently, I have been the first to follow quite a few blogs.  So at least I can say, I was your first to a few people! Have a great day!

About Giveaways and a catch!

HA, there is no catch, read on.......
So we all see giveaways so often out here in Blog land. One of the driving factors is to get more of a new following most of the time.

I have done two giveaways since my blog opening back in January. One was my personal handbags that I did not use anymore, and the second one was a CSN giveaway. CSN has been a big giveaway deal out here. The internet shopping store is awesome! I will say that. I recently had a choice of a review or a giveaway. I chose the review. My code was for $60.00 which is pretty generous. I was not sure what I would get with it, and after pondering I wound up with some awesome bar stools. Two for 60.00! Can you believe that? After tax and shipping they cost me 10.00.

I have another opportunity coming up again soon, at THAT  time I will be doing a giveaway instead of a review and that comes, WITHOUT any criteria at all. What I mean by that is you will NOT have to follow me in order to participate and possibly win. I want my following to be a loyal, more authentic following. One of which, we engage with one another on occasion, share ideas, inspire one another. Kinda like my reality life. Peeps are NOT my friend because I give them something.  I care about friendships, showing kindness to one another, perhaps inspiring. So,based on my experience which is not much, giveaways and a new loyal following really do not come hand and hand, IMO.
You do know, I can share a good craft, I can share a bad craft, I can share a smile, a lending ear, and I can offer you my friendship...and on occasion a good story to tell. Oh and let's not forget the advise I need on occasion.

So I am just putting it out there, that my next giveaway comes without any stipulations at all!
NOW, if you want to follow me, that makes it authentic to me. Some of the gals who did choose to follow me, during my giveaways, I actually thought it was a start of new friendships and interaction, I only felt a disappointment to see them unfollow me after the giveaway. So based on that, and not that alone, I have decided two things. I will only participate in giveaways that I  already follow the blog , or I will only participate in a giveaway if I really like the blog and want to follow. It will not be based on the GIVEAWAY stipulation.....gosh I hate rules I just realized that HAHAHA!!~  One disclosure I would like to make, is I have no problem with the giveaways on other blogs and their criteria. I only speak on my behalf, my personal feelings, and my personal experience.  You will never see a giveaway again on my blog with a become a new follower stipulation.
Sorry if I am off base, or offend anyone by my feelings...feel free to share your own on this...perhaps we can learn from one another's thought process. One more thing I would like to add is I went back to my giveaway posts and looked at all the entries who were new followers.  Based on 207 entries, and around 40 new followers, I have seen one gal since, and a lot of the others unfollowed me. So these are my own stats, and again based on my experience and thoughts on this.

HEY here are my new barstools!!~ They are getting a mini makeover, because the top was a little too light.

These are just a sneak peek, I have some projects brewing here at Witchville Debbiedoos!
DON'T forget about my GARAGE SALEN PARTY....I am seeing some awesome scores this week.  I have to tell you too, this week my hubs and I went thrifting, and let me just say some of you gals really score on your prices, because I saw some of the same stuff I see out here,  for a lot of money.  I told my husband I know too much about thrifting now and prices. Or maybe I am just too CHEAP!

girls juSt wanna Have FUn!

I believe I have mentioned I play  a game called Bunco, you may of heard of it or even play yourself! What a great game it is.  If you can get about 10-12 girls together once a month, I think you should start one yourself.  It is a no brainer dice game!~ You potentially can win $50 or more in the night.  Although, I have only won once, I think it is worth my initial $5.00 to play and have a fun night out with friends.  One of our friends in the group lives on the lake and she offered instead of a Bunco a night, how about a night out on her Pontoon Boat! Well, don't ask anyone twice on that offer.  We started off at her what she calls "TIKI" Bar and then from there went to our one and only restaurant on the Lake.  It was great night had by all, and I thought I would share with you my crazy group of friends.  What you may see here is no reflection of sweet innocent me...HA HA!!~ We had a blast.
Mary's Tikki bar has a beautiful view of the Lake...she has had many great parties here!
This is on our way to the Restaurant...kinda mellow for now.
I really do not know why my friend Sara is kissing me on the cheek...I think she is saying something like "Oh Debbiedoos your so cute, and I am so lucky to be your friend" Yeah if my memory serves me correct that is what she was saying.......NOT!
The sun starting to go down...so pretty!
Back at the Tikki bar...and now the girls are starting to get wild....ha....if they only knew I am posting these pictures....

GOODnight Moon....

R is for REASONS

Have you ever really thought about your Reasons for being here? Your purpose, what you are meant to do and accomplish in this life?  I honestly do not question that, as my life's path has pretty much shown me the way, and I just roll with it.  Now please bare with me my writing skills, as I was that kid in HS that was sleeping every chance a movie came on BORING!~ NAP time for Debbiedoos.  The only interest In HS I had was boys,  typing, shorthand, and general business where you learned to file and index. Now do not get me wrong, I am by no means proud of this behavior I HAD, and regret it very much. I am just being honest here.  Now if my boys ever exhibited such....let's just say RUN, RUN, RUN as fast as you can! ( I can hear little bro saying that to Alex!
http://www.gamerevolution.com/images/misc/Image/sleeping_in_class.jpg This is a pretty good picture I found, I always made sure I had my pencil in hand, made it look like I was taking notes.  Basically, I was a rebel without a cause, so you would have thought.   Some teachers loved me, some teachers hated me. I knew they hated me because they more or less told me ( I was thrown out a few two, three, four of classrooms)  The principal knew me well, he liked me though so that was a good thing. The teachers I did have that liked me, saw there was some deep potential in me, and they wanted to help and guide me in the right direction.  I still remember them fondly. I made it through HS and just wanted out.  I wanted to get an office job.  College really was not in the cards for me.  Again, not because I had no potential, I had no drive, I had not a care or concern.  My Mom encouraged me, but I just would not hear of it...again REBEL! I did go on in life and succeed, by my definition of success. I was happy with what I was doing and still am. My life could not be  more blessed.  Thankfully because of the business classes I did take and love, I was able to get decent jobs.  I started off part time in a 5 physician practice. I had very strong work ethic, and learned that from my Mom, who worked very hard to take care of two daughters on a waitress job.  I loved what I was doing, and before you knew it, I was full time.  One thing about me, is I have a Type A personality so If I am driven toward something I love, I will succeed at anything I put my mind to. I worked there for 5 years.  In between there I worked for an attorney...not sure what my reason or purpose was with that job.  The Man was nuts! However, I did learn a lot, and in the process managed one of his 4 offices.  The first Doctors office actually called me to return, and I did, but with a matching salary, they agreed.  From there I went on to work for a Female Oncologist for 8 years, and managed her practice.  I basically did everything but inject the chemo, we of course had a nurse.   Whewwwww......you want to talk about a hard job~! My first year there I spent many days leaving there crying.  By this time in my life, the Rebel was gone and I had developed more compassion for people.  Not that I did not before, but I never gave it too much thought. I was young.  Many of patients touched my life.  When I got married, the kindness was overflowing between gifts and cards.  Then when I got pregnant...I had a patient start making me a blanket, while receiving her treatments.  Let me put it this way, those patients became friends of mine, many of them and they forever touched my life.  After the birth of Alex,  Mike was still in College, I seriously could not wait to stop working, but had to for 10 short Months,  I worked two 10 hour days. We had no money, but managed just fine. I received the WIC program because of our income and I had a baby, let me tell you it was a life saver. Once I  became  a mother, that was my first and foremost priority in life, still is, nothing has changed. That was 13 years ago, and I have never returned to the work force since.  I have been very proactive with my boys and their educations. I am very driven for them, I want them truly to have the education, that I so lacked, through much fault of my own.   I have also mentioned to you all, my boys will never know the true Rebel I was.  I was a straight A and B honor roll student LMAO ( Laugh my ass off on that one)  Since I do not work I have found Blogging this past 4 months such a creative outlet that I am now tapping into.  I have always loved to decorate, have dabbled here in there with some small jobs, have always helped my friends, and pretty much change my own home every other day with something small.  Aside from being creative, I have always been very much a people person.  Love to be social, love to be part of the crowd.  My friends are kind and loving, and always have nice things to say to me and about me to others.  I have always been what you can say a sounding board for many.  SOmeone has a problem, they call me.  I usually do not have an answer, but I will listen, and sometimes that is all people need. Now onto my real REASON for this post.  Sorry it is long winded, did I mention I can talk, and as fast as I can talk I can type just as fast......
Now onto the real story....I had to preempt you with my  early teenage years background, I don't know why, just wanted to I guess!Really is not RELEVANT to this post.
There is someone out here in this virtual world that touched me dearly. And she is the REASON I posted this as  it is because of her I started this blog. There was a reason she came to me, a reason she encouraged me, and I want to thank her.
It started on a decorating site called RMS, I met many of women there, some have come and gone, some are here with me in this blogging World, and I treasure their friendships.
http://assets.huluim.com/shows/key_art_rate_my_space.jpg   Well RMS  was fun and I learned a lot in the process. There where at times some negativity on there.  I am not at all a negative person, and really do not do well with negativity around me or in my life....it's not in my life because I do not allow it.  Anyhow, this very special woman,  her user name was Glorify God.  Her first post was a garage door project that I just loved.  I went over to it, commented and from there her and I built a very short lived virtual friendship.  I remember the first time I visited her she and her daughter where at the computer reading my comment, she made me feel like I was  rock star or something.  She said her daughter jumped up and down and said that pretty girl came to our page.  You will never know how that touched me...seriously it was awesome~! Glorify God quickly started encouraging me to start a blog.  She is the one who actually came up with my name.  I would see her comments on many other posts, and she would tell everyone of her idea, and to please encourage me to start a blog.  I was no where near ready, or had even the slight bit of confidence that I could do it.  I would always thank her and tell her Oh maybe someday but not now.  Time had passed, she left the site, and I am guessing from someone who was unkind to her.  I talked about her often to my husband....I talked about a post that she had on her blog about dancing in a water fountain with her daughter. She really influenced me.  One day I mustered up the courage and started a blog, hence here I am.  I went to her existing posts and told her so.  I never did hear from her again.  I do believe she served her purpose and reason for coming into my life.  I just want her to know I think of her, and I appreciate everything she said and the seed she planted.  I am growing and learning, and really  do Love it! There was a time in the beginning I almost quit, as there where many posts on the jealousies amongst bloggers, bloggers who quit never to be seen again.  I had experienced my own share of  problems on the RMS site (mean spirited people, jealousy, etc)  and really did not want to go there again.  I decided NO, that was not going to happen here, I would not allow it, and to make it all that I wanted it to be...hence, I am, and I did!~  Do I want to reach and touch and inspire as many people as I can?  You bet I do...because that is who I am, and those are the REASONS I blog. I am in the process of making my audition tape for Oprah's new show! If you want to read about that go HERE~ Let me just say, right now, I hate doing videos, they seem unnatural to me, when I have to try so hard.  I will be taking a different approach...we shall see how it turns out. I can see why some movie stars hate to see themselves on screen....it is weird to watch yourself talk, you really critique yourself.  The one thing I know for sure, and my husband always tells me...I have a really small sized pea HEAD!
http://www.chicagonow.com/blogs/chicago-garden/The%20Top%2010%20Easiest%20Plants%20to%20Grow%20from%20Seed.pngI will be linking this post to Jenny Matlocks, Alphabet Thursday.  Her weekly party always inspires me to write a  little more.  As you can see, I am not the best, but I can tell a pretty good story....now for all you teachers out there that read it and quiver over my grammar, punctuation and sometimes spelling, I do apologize and can only tell you, if I could change one thing about myself, it truly would be to care more about EDUCATION the first go at it. No I am not going back to school, so forget that....moving on to the Oprah show!~
http://jennymatlock.blogspot.com
I just found this linky party too and thought I would link up...thank you:)

And don't forget about my designer bag giveaway, two up for grabs, you still have time! HERE are the details.
