Unbelievable information....

OK so I am a little short on the U's in this post, it is Undeniably Lame for Alphabet Thursday, that I will be participating in with Miss Jenny Matlock.  Please Miss Jenny do not fail me, as I have not Uttered a word all day long in class. I do have to get SOME pertinent information out there though for all to read. You may find it UNNECESSARY, but I however, find it to be UNBELIEVABLE, and some of it even UNTRUE information that  we just do not think about on an every day basis. My friend Holly over at 504 Main, had a great post and information as to the diet detox she is on.  I thought I would give it whirl, as I am wanting to lose the few extra pounds my body has been storing since the Winter time.  After searching the web, I came up with a lot of advertisements for colon cleanses...of course I feel a lot of them where scare tactics too. But this one site, listed below had this to say.  I think WEB MD is the best source of information, and I did look on there as well.Too much info to post, but head on over there if you are interested in learning more.
http://ezinearticles.com (this website I believe is promoting colon cleanses)

When you detoxify your body with a cleanse then you restore your body's natural balance which results in you having more energy and more alertness. But there are many ways that you can keep your body as clear and detoxified as possible every single day. The foods that you choose to eat greatly affect how well your body can clean itself out.
There can be up to thirty pounds of waste spackled to the sides of your colon. You may find, after you naturally cleanse your body with a fruit and veggie diet, that you are able to lose those unwanted pounds.
The other benefit of cleansing your body with a fruit and veggie diet is that you have more of an opportunity to clear out any parasite you may have picked up. A parasite can be effectively washed away with a colon cleanse.
So let's get healthy colons together....I tried my first smoothie today, and it was delicious, very filling too.  I also added blueberries, and used spinach instead of Kale.  I am thinking you can add just about any fruit you like, they are all packed with vitamins and antioxidants that our body needs.
http://www.umm.edu/digest/images/digest.jpgIf you look at this picture I am assuming what they are speaking of...:"spackled" colon would be along the walls of our colon?  I am not a Dr.,(obviously I would not be sitting on my butt Blogging,  and do not always interpret things  correctly, I need to pay a little more attention in Miss Jenny's class. ( Please consult a physician before starting any diet and exercise plan, or if you ever consider a colon cleanse). There are many remedies of colon cleanses out there.  What I am featuring is simply a healthy smoothie.  I will be leaving my blender on the counter from here on in to make it convenient for me to make.  Perhaps my husband will want one as well...we will be the COLON clean family! Although my husband is swearing by his bowl of All bran every morning (TMI) too much information!
Here is the recipe from Holly as well. Improvise to your liking.

So have you ever done a colon cleanse? What was your experience? ( I mean how did you feel?) I do not mean how was your bowel movements!  ( Note I am posting early, husband is off tomorrow, car is in the shop, Jack has a birthday party, Getting ready for Alex to go to overnight Camp, etc, etc....in other words I will be busy for the next couple of days......
Also I have included the link in which I received this information from.  Seems it is UNTRUE about your colon getting spackled...is that even a word?? Nonetheless....fruit and veggies smoothies are awesome for you!

P.S.  I was going to add a really gross picture of a something that supposedly came out of a colon,....however, I did not want to get anyone's panties in a knot! Seems when I get a little gross....some of you peeps don't like me:) Remember I am a Mom of two boys, not too much grosses me out anymore.

Cute post for U. I don't thing the colon walls get spackled with stuff. When I had my colonoscopy last year I asked the doctor about that and it just does not happen. Yes, you will lose weight by eating more fruits and veggies and drinking lots of fluids and leaving off the junk. The colon cleansing products push this because they are making a killing off of it. I certainly need to eat healthier which is what I am going to do. I do love smoothies though.

I think I am more in line with Kim on this one! Eating more fruit and veggies and drinking more water is just healthy. I would need to do more research before doing a cleanse! Interesting U post!

This recipe sure sounds good. I was reading your post while eating a big bowl of chocolate ice cream. LOL! I do eat healthy, but I sometimes treat myself to ice cream. Believe it or not, I think I'd enjoy a smoothie like this just as much. Well, maybe not but I can tell myself that! It's a great way to eat better and I'm all for that. Thanks for sharing the recipe!!

I will have to think about this recipe and may consider it! Kale??? Well see! Anywho, I do on ocassion just last week and will again this week drink a diet tea that pretty much does the same thing. I always feel so much better after cleaning the system so to speak. However, I don't do this on any regular schedule or recommend it for everyone. Only as I feel is needed. We eat alot of homemade hamburger and pasta dishs and sometimes I feel like I need a fresh start. For sure if I ate alot more greens and veggies I would skip the diet teas. All in all I do believe there is something to be said about having a clean healty colon. How we get there is another piece of the puzzle, isn't it! Wow! This is quite an out there post here, Ms.Debbiedos! LOL!

I have heard pros and cons about colon cleansing. I have not done one myself except when I had a colonoscopy two years ago. But I do drink smoothies practically every morning so I guess I unintentionally keep it clean! I make my smoothies with a variety of fruits and leafy green veggies. Being a mom of two boys myself, I can definitely relate to your postscript!

My sister-in-law has her own Colonoscopy and Whole Body Cleansing business. I haven't done it yet, but I hear lots of good things from her clients. I guess she's had quite a few patients that had serious health issues, but doing the colonoscopy and whole body cleanings a few times they have since gotten better.

So, if you're ever in the Orem area of Utah you should definitely check out her business.

I really want to try that recipe!

I've been doing a 7 day cleanse quarterly for 11 years now. I find it does give me renewed energy. One does need to remember that during and after the cleanse , friendly flora needs to be added to the system via acidophilus of at least 1 gram a day . I spread this out over 7 small dose's so as not to end up flushing it out of my system too quickly..
Good luck and let us know how it works for you..

WOW... What a change of pace here today. Yes, I have seen the pictures. Yes, my pants are in a knot. Yes, I just had the big 50 test. Yes, it was un-pleasant. But, no, I don't think I want to do this regularly (no pun) as it would take time away from crafting.

Food for thought,
Kate

P.S. I can totally see you dyeing you own yarn. Sort of like spray painting.

I've not cleansed my colon. This was quite interesting.

But you can be too clean on the inside...did you know that? I take pills that add bacteria to my innards every single day. I do!

I find all this info fascinating. You should check out this web site: www.annlouise.com she's brilliant. PhD, nutritionist and genius in regards to cleansing the body.

I loved this post, it is so true, we need to be careful about what we put in our bodies- our livers work so hard as it is, the better food we fuel ourselves with, the better health our liver and other organs are going to be in.

Have a super day!!

I worked in the medical records dept. of a hospital for 4 years so I'd see all the colonoscopy reports along with the images. A lot of times they would mention "poor prep" on the patients part and they referred to it as "sludge"...blech!!! Other ones would mention "excellent prep" and they had nice shiny clean colons.

Another great topic Debbie!!!

Hi Debbie,
Your U post certainly touched a nerve.
After a failed colonoscopy, barium enema, x rays, scan and goodness knows what else (resulting in the diagnosis that I have a dolicho megacolon!),I never want to hear about colon cleansing again.
TMI??
However smoothies and eating lots of veggies are very good ways to cleanse our bodies naturally.

I always just close my eyes for the gross or scary stuff!

This was an interesting post to me. My naturopath has me do a modified fast once a year...but it is generally for toxins that build up from the meds I need to take. At the beginning I could always really tell...now, not so much, but I suspect that is because I rarely eat anything with preservatives and have almost zero sugar and gluten.

I hope this works for you!

The word "spackle" did give me the willies...just a bit!

But I enjoyed my stop here on my little journey through Alphabe-Thursday's Letter "U"!

And, please! No-one could not possibly like you just because you're a teensy bit gross sometimes!

Cuz, personally, I think you are uber-cool!

A+

colon cleanses can be pretty extreme....if you look at the herbal ones, the main ingredient is usually cascara segrada which is a laxative...which means a lot of toilet time...I think doing it with fruit and veggies and lots of water is probably a better way...you also can go to a chinese herbalist and they will look at you and mix up a bag of herbs and things to make into a tea for renewal....I did it for two years one time a year and it was amazing...it worked.....
