Bored Cone heads!

Day two: House bound
Woke up to this...
 Snap!
No more umbrella and the candle piece gone too! Oh well, just stuff.
So what is a girl to do, who is bored? I KNOW...craft! Because you know how good I am and all, I would never want to disappoint my friends here. So I started off with this...
I have seen some gals make cute felt trees and topiaries..I of course had to come up with something a little more zany....
I have said it before and I will say it again. Magazines hold so much inspiration...I have Modged podged my life away with magazines this past summer. And this page here, I just tore out and stuck in a frame..I loved it, and with Valentines day coming RED was perfect.

I just added the heart, I picked up from Michaels, for a buck, painted it, added a little bow embellishment, that I took off some candy I purchased at the Dollar tree. Waste nothing when it comes to crafting...you never know what you can use it for.
And there you have my first Valentine vignette.
I sprayed the cone with Elmer's spray glue and took the moss and just adhered it to the tree. Messy job, but easy.
Then I took some cute candy I bought from the dollar tree and added that.
This may fall into the category of bad craft, but I was BORED people, had no kids all day yesterday, and hubby was working. SO that's what you get!

Now these guys, I don't think their going to make it much longer.

HOWEVER, all you newbies who have contacted me, left your links, etc.  Have no fear.
First let me say, don't give up if this is something you feel you have enjoyed, but you are just getting a little frustrated at not getting activity.
Quick tid bits here before you go....
Put yourself out there, go introduce yourself to another like minded blogger, and start following. Do you really think people are just going to magically appear at your blog, because you have one? NOPE..
For some reason, I try to be polite and follow back people who follow me.  You will get your skeptics on that, however, I don't mind that way at all, it has worked for  me thus far, when I know the person has followed me.

TURN OFF Word verification, NOW, NOW, NOW!!~ Blogger has been very good about weeding out spam on the blogs. You may get some in your inbox, but it is not going on the blog, most of the time.
Last bit for today.....if you are new, chances are you do not have a lot of comments.  IF  and when a gal comes and visits you, HEAD on over there, NOW, NOW, NOW, and say hello, give back the same.
Now that does get increasingly more difficult as time goes on...but don't worry about that now, you are new, and you need to make a good first impression, you only get one chance at that! So go have fun. I will be having my first featured blog this weekend.
And if you think I sound demanding and bossy, well I am! In a good way.....XXX000

I saw you in my email so I guess I did the email thing correctly! I love your cone tree, it's adorable and very Valentine-ish.

I'm sorry about your umbrella:( It's cloudy and sort of chilly here but I won't complain..altho being snowed in sounds so cozy!

That's good new blogger advice! Visiting others is very important and I agree about the word verification, especially when you type something then it pops back to the top of the blog when you hit publish so half the time you don't even realize it's asking for word verification!

Sorry about your umbrella. My umbrella was blown off and a piece broken off during the last windstorm we had :(
I love your Valentine decoration!! So cute!
Great advise to new bloggers, especially about the WORD VERIFICATION! I hate that, too! Maybe some still need a mini- tutorial about how to turn that off?

Cute vignette, Debbie. And good advice!
Sorry about the umbrella. At least it wasn't a tree falling on your beautiful home. Guess one can always find something to be thankful for. LOL ~ Sarah

Hello Debbie,

What a shame about the umbrella. Great attitude though! Sorry I have been MIA, but I have been sick for the past several days and have not been online. After reading all the posts I missed I debated about responding all in one or separately so you will inundated with several responses instead of a tome in one! I think your Valentine vignette looks great! I am still recovering from Christmas and cannot even begin to think about the next holiday! Great advice to new bloggers! Especially about word verification!

Sweet project! Sorry about your umbrella. The snow sure is pretty though. Wish we had some. I'd love to play in the white stuff.
Thanks for another post against word verification. I posted about the same thing not long ago. Maybe repetition is the key. Your voice is a lot louder than mine. Much appreciation!

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, Noooooooooooooooooo, I forgot to tell you to put your umbrella away for an icey day. So sorry to see. That's pretty much why we pack it all up here. So, two day house bound, I haven't been out since Saturday. Kind of normal here, thus why I picked up the hook last winter. What a fun project and I love that it's not overly valentin-ie.

I am bored too! I have not been doing anything other then walking around taking photos of this and that. The most productive I've been all day is doing a tablescape for tomorrow and laundry. So sad! LOL! You did great! I wouldn't say this is among the odd projects this one is really cute. I like your heart too. So sorry to hear about the umbrella, I know how frustrating it is to loose one. I wouldn't toss your candle base yet though, surely you could still use it somehow. You will come up w/something.

So...Now you have the perfect umbrella for a short person...just sayin... And~that is one cute lil' topiary tree you put together there. Now tell the truth, how many of those Be Mine little candies did you eat? Cuz I only see a few on the tree and I think there was probably a whole bunch of them.

Actually, you will be surprised but your pansies should survive. They can usually make it through a few cold/icy cold days without dying. Amazing..but true.

As far as telling new bloggers what to do? You hit the nail right on the head..and I love a bossy woman! Hugs- Diana

I LOVE your Valentine vignette. I've never done much for Valentine's Day except a front door decoration, but you've inspired my creativity. Your weather looks like ours in Ohio; sorry to see your injured umbrella. If I decide to make the leap and join the Blogging bandwagon, I'll be sure to let you know! My little ditty about...
DebbieDoo’s DebbieDoo’s

We all love Debbie cuz of what DebbieDoo’s
She’s a girl after my heart and is really cool,
She doesn’t feel she has to follow the rules,
If you are standing still and in her reach she will mod podge you
Until you screech!
She crafts a lot… blogs a lot… speaks her mind and even sometimes babbles on, but if you listen to her you will learn a lot from this sassy girl named DebbieDoo’s!
DebbieDoos, DebbieDoos, you gotta love what this gurl can do!

Miss you Debbie, hope to get back to blogging soon! Thanks for always being there for all of us bloggers out there, you’re the best and I'll never forget when you featured me early on, thank you so much!
Hugz,
Kim

Great pointers!!! Something I also do...most of the time...is send a little note back to everyone who comments on my blog. It shows that there's a real person behind the blog who appreciates you taking the time to stop by and comment. Of course, I'm able to do this, because I'm no where near the mega-blog status.
