Airsofting and a new cool box!

A lot of you gals were not familiar with air softing.
Paint ball seemed to be a bit more popular.
My son is 13 and this is his thang!
I had to ask him permission for this post, as I have to start respecting his privacy as a teenager.
Some of his friends caught wind of my blog at school, and let's just say, his new name for the day was Debbiedoo's...NOT COOL!
So anyhow he said because this is COOL, I can post it.
Airsoft is an activity used primarily for recreation where replica firearms shooting 6mm or 8mm plastic rounds are used for personal collection, gaming (similar to Paintball), or professional training purposes (Military Simulations and Police training exercises).
As you can see he takes it pretty serious!
While Mike and I were antiquing the other day, and yes for the record I forgot my camera....
We found this cool Old Tool box. I thought this is perfect for Alex's airsoft equipment.  His room was a disaster otherwise, and I was pretty much forbidden to touch his stuff....again, it's that ole respect thing a Mother has to do as well.
It was the perfect size too.  Oh BTW we scored it for 85.00 bucks. I thought that was pretty good considering, the cabinets we were looking at like at Sears, were over $200.00 and they were not even wood.

I painted it a color called Duckeywood, by dutchboy.  It was perfect.  I bought the stencils at Walmart and we added the initials of his team and his initials on the bottom.
Perfecto, I have one happy organized Airsoftin son!
Newbie party still goings on HERE
and I forgot to mention my other website HERE

Oh man airsofting brings back painful memories of teenager-hood for me... My brother would get me when I least expected it. Where the heck were my over-protective parents when he was aiming for my poor poor skinny (only part of me that is skinny) ankles???? OUCH!!!!

Nice box! I can totally relate. I have a 13 year old who is as I write in the neighborhood airsoft field they made. Love the box and you know you are cool if the 13 year old approves :)

Debbie, that is great that you asked him first. I had not heard of this new thing either. My son in law the cop loves paint ball so I am sure he knows about this, too. The box looks great. Just like someone in the army might have.

My 39 year old son used to do Paintball til the economy hit and his eldest is now 10 and wants to go so badly. They do play Laser Tag when we take them to FunDepot. I've not really heard much on airsofting. That box is sure something my guys would love to have.

When your son is done with it, I would so grab it up, put some casters under it, and call it a coffee table. :)

I'll be honest. That first pic scared me a little. Then I remembered you live in the south...he-he... But, I adore the trunk.

Oh I can definitely relate with the teenage son mentality and the paint ball equipment needs to be contained :)
What a great deal on your gear box and the color is so cool for a teenage boy.
Thanks for sharing.

Jordan is 21 and he is all about Airsoft. I just don't get it. He comes home with welts from the pellets. There's some big tournament in California he wants to go to.

Wow, I never heard of this activity, but I haven't had a teen in the house for a long time. However, I still remember this was the age when I easily embarrassed my son, and definitely NO hugs in public--ha! You are a great mom, and I love the storage box you revived for your son's equipment. Great going! no-blog Peggy

Wow what a lucky guy! Paint ball was expensive and only done at places that coordinated the events, but it looks like they can do this anytime. Ouch, does it hurt?

I'm glad he allowed you to post this...always interesting to see what the young folks are into these days. I know they had a blast!

LOVE your coasters ~ they look so neat. I'm sure the basket was a great surprise for the bride & groom. Love to do things like that!
I know your boobs are ok...but I understand the apprehension. I have a "place" that sometimes gives me a problem...and always, it's something there from birth.

Hope you're having a great week! I'm off to check on the newbies. I still think this is a grand gesture on your part. :-)

Pretty cool! My kids did the paint ball thing...always something new for the kids...and how great that you are so supportive of him being involved in it. There has been an outcry against it in several areas because of the "guns"...well, soon enough they grow up and go off to war and get REAL guns...sad as that is.

What a great storage box...and it looks very military-ish which I'm sure he thinks is pretty cool. You're a good MOM! Hugs-Diana

Hey Deb. You're the best. Thanks for letting me know about the .
I think I'm all fixed now. Only a true friend would let me know that. I really wasn't talking about you with the white background and that rambling chick posting. You do just fine the way you do. But, I'm liken' the dots. Off to have a quick stroll around and see who's out there tonight.

I can't wait till my son wakes up tomorrow so I can show him this post! He and his friends have regular airsoft wars at a local field that has huge rock piles--perfect places to hide. It is THE thing among his friends and even some of the girls are getting their own guns and joining the fun. He's got two guns now and I'm sure once he sees your son's helmet he's going to want one.

I love the storage box and the color. Did it come with those compartments or did you have to install those?

I've never heard of airsofting, but then again, I have girls! We never even had video games until Santa brought us a Wii 2 years ago! Love, love, love, the tool box. You chose the perfect paint to make the tool chest look old, but in new condition! Looks fantastic!

My 14yo has a couple of paintball guns and an airsoft gun. He likes to go into the woods behind our house with the airsoft gun, but uses the paintball guns more with his friends.

Love the chest! How nice for your son to have such a great place to store his guns and equipment.

My boys were into paintball in high school. Since they are older, I'm assuming this sport came after that, so No I had never heard of this before today. Very very cool how you decorated that 'rough' looking chest for him.
Love it! Oh & I'm trying to be more respectful of my sons in my post too. So hard when you're such proud mamas though, huh?! :-)

Hope you're having a Wonderful week, Debbie!!! ~ Coreen xoxoxo

Oh no Debbie, your poor son! Kids can be so darn fresh sometimes. But I guess it's better to be teased a bit over mom's blog than something that would really upset him.

I have never heard of airsofting. It looks like fun & your son does look cool.

Nice score on the box. It looks great!
