Newbie party in full swing!

Whew...it's hot here in the Carolina's!
But I am certainly not complaining just yet.
We have long awaited for summer and it is quickly approaching.
My Petunia's are doing wonderful!

Looks like things have been a bit quiet in blog land.
It's a good time to get outside and catch up on  all our summer projects and work.
These two little projects were really a no brainer, and took me seconds to do.
I am bringing all my colors together out on our back deck and thought I would share some today.

I just love my new bird pillow, purchased at Lowes hardware.
I bought this cheapo watering can at Walmart, as you can see I thought I would stencil on it.
However, that was not going to work out.
So I looked through my craft section (in my house) and I saw I had this vinyl initial.
It was perfect!~
I also saw in the garden section, this plant called citronella plant, and it has a light lemon fragrance.  It is suppose to ward off...
Mosquito's! We shall see how it does, or how I do keeping it alive.
It has  a pretty leaf and texture...
So there you have my chillin' and putzin' post.
The chillin' was today, and the putzin'was yesterday.
Ready for the newbie party?

there is a krylon spray paint that works on plastic, in case you'll need it again, although the results aren't as good as advertise (when i was in business, i used to be a plastic nerd :)

I was going to just comment on how gorgeous those petunias are, then I fell in love with the "M", then I was amazed at how beautiful your photos are of the citronella plant, so I guess I'll just say, "I love this post!"

Oh how I envy the warmth you're enjoying.. as well as those petunias. Beautiful!

Citronella plant! It can't work worse than my citronella candles.. several annoying mosquito bites in but a mere hour or so.. while it was overcast outside.

Sigh.

Your newbie party makes it all better though! :)

Hi Debbie,

I love the large 'M' and the citronella plant is something I'm going to look for. I just heard if you eat bananas mosquito's will bite.
That would explain why I get bit and my husband does not. ha

The petunia's are gorgeous!!!

Nice facelift for the watering can. You will have to let us know how the plant works.

I have been chillin this weekend. If I feel like doing something, I do it...if I don't feel like it, I don't. I don't have weekends like this very often.

I have the same kind of plant, but I never knew it was supposed to keep off mosquitos. I got it from my grandmother and she always called the "Doctor Westerlund Plant" because I think she once got it from a doctor who told her it was good for the health (not to consume, but to keep in the room - I suppose it clarifies the air).

I think I will put mine outside to see if it will ward off any mosquitos.

Happy Memorial Day! Thanks for hosting. If that plant really does keep Mosquitos away, I would take a leaf and rub it all over my arms, legs and anywhere else exposed and then carry the plant everywhere I go. I'm itching just thinking about them.
