Newbie party started!
(Inspired by Beth the stories of A to Z)
Thought I would start a new manicure trend! |
I bought a bed skirt from Goodwill for $2.00, laundered it first of course. |
Cut to size and started the hot glue process! |
Perfecto, they now touch to the floor! |
Enjoy the Newbie party.

Love how the curtains turned out, but not so sure the manicure will catch on LOL. You seem to be a master with a glue gun, its sorda like duct tape nothing it can't fix.
Have a Great Week:)
What a great idea, it looks so pretty! Too bad about your nail, I don't even bother with doing anything to mine!
Thank you for your advice about the tiles, glaze sounds like it may be the answer!!!
You had a great idea on the curtains. I may steal that for my bed skirt that is way too short for my monster of a bed.
Drapes look great!!
Ouch is right girl..have done that many times ha ha!! Girl the drapes look great...your so cleaver my dear friend..Hugs and smiles Gloria
Clever solution - attractive result, too! Thankful I can do the same with sewing and less damage to the nail :)
Don't cha love finding the perfect bed skirt that can be used for something else & for cheap? I've made pillows, made ruffles for others things and skirts for chairs out of bed skirts I've found at Goodwill. I LOVE the idea of adding them to curtains. Yours turned out perfect : )
~ Deanna
Great idea, Debbie. Love the little ruffle showing. At least your nails look a whole lot better than mine. I don't even get my nails done anymore with all this painting it is pointless.
ouch indeed! But it looks like you won in the end by accomplishing what you set out to do! Looks great!
Great quick fix for the curtains! They look so nice!!
Nancy
Oh Yeah, hot glue rules! I've used it for a multitude of decor projects, including upholstering an entire sofa. Your curtains look fantastic!
Sorry about the hot glue incident...but your curtains rock! Thanks for hosting the Newbie Party. I'm going to be REALLY sad when I can't join anymore...have a great week. ~Ann
That looked like it hurt. Hopefully it was only your nail! You are so funny about sewing...Wish you lived closer... You could bring them right over for me to sew! Hope you had a great weekend! Your curtains look great, btw! :)
Debbie,
It looks great and who knows maybe you'll start a new manicure trend!!
Wendy
The curtains look really cute and the fix was simple.
I had to smile at the fingernail. I've given myself more than a few really bad hot glue gun burns on my thumbs and pointer fingers.
Oh Darlin'! Those hot glue guns should be illegal. Never a time goes by, that I use it, that I don't melt a nail, or my hair. Your poor finger!!!
However, the curtains look better than new!! A fabulous idea that looks so good!! Your nail is worth the sacrifice!! Very soon another magazine will be writing to ask to do a bbedroom photoshoot!!
xxDaniella
You gotta love that glue gun. The ruffled lace looks really nice on the bottom of the curtains and what a great idea. I'm always using my glue gun when sewing! As for the fingernails, yours still look amazing next to mine.
Marianne :)
thats a mighty painful injury,, nothing hurts like hot glue,,very crafty though,,I've never glued cloth like that,, does it wash well?
Debbie I think I burn myself every time I use the hot glue gun and it HURTS!! Great idea adding the ruffle, and thanks for hosting, Martina
Great idea Deb, I hear you on the glue gun burns, I don't get as much of them since I bought a smaller one:)
Great looking nails Debbie...
Pattie
Hi Debbie Dear and OUCH is right! That glue gun burn hurts like the Dickens! Now you are the smartest one, even though you're handicapped now! I love your new drapes!
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Looks great! I hope it was worth the burn.....:/

Ouchie! I was told years ago to always have a small dish of ice water handy whenever I'm using the hot glue gun. Do I do that? Not usually, but it is a good idea! I think that's a super-cool quick fix. The drapes look lovely.
~CAS
Great idea and yes, I have many hot glue gun scars. :D
That's an ingenious idea! Looks great too. Sorry about your nail though. :(
Great job! I can remember gluing my fingers to everything...and the burns! EEEOWWWW! Nice job and just the right touch of "frill" for those panels! hugs- Diana
Great fix, Debbie! I put my finger right in hot glue today so I know the feeling! Hazard of the creating, I guess. : )
on the bright side, you didn't get a big blister on your fingers! glue guns are weapons, for real! thanks for hosting!
Wow, Debbie! I never would have thought of turning a bedskirt into a curtain, what a great idea! I don't like sewing either, so I'll have to remember your glue gun trick (minus the burn, of course....owie!)!
Debbie, Ouch, guess what, I was at a thrift store 2 weeks ago and they had a low heat glue gun for $3.00, I did not know they existed! OMG it has changed my glueing world! You can touch the glue fresh out of the gun and it does not burn, it is amazing and seems to do just as good a job. Now, why do they even make the glue guns that burn our skin off!
Carol
RUN to the craft store and buy Fabric-Tac glue. It bonds fabrics and bonds them quickly and very strongly, too. I have used it now for several years and find I cannot be without it. I buy mine at Hancocks fabrics.
Clever girl! Great idea to add the ruffle, even better that you found the material at GW for $2. ;-)
~ Sarah
What a great idea! I would never have thought of that. It sure beats redoing the entire panel. Pretty fabric you chose. Have a great week!
I could go in for a life of crime, I am sure I have burned my fingerprints competely off with a hot glue gun over the years. The drapes do look good with that eyelet edging though.
Hot glue is definitely HOT! I have burned myself countless times and have scars to prove it. You are lucky it only melted away your nail, toots~
Great re-purposing for the bedskirt- your drapes look cute with that addition. :-)
I love the way the curtains turned out!! Great job!! Thanks for sharing!!
Im lovin the print!
Beautiful, with nice colors
Lol! Has anyone yet figured out how to use one of those glue guns without getting themselves full of glue or burning themselves!
Curtains look great though.
You're talented, funny, smart and charming, Debbie. It's what keeps us all coming back!
Smart trick with the curtains. Looks like they came that way.. and goes well with the bedding.
Great idea Debbie, looks GREAT! New pedicure trend...not so much! :) :)
Hope you have a GREAT week!
Cindy
Ummm...hopefully you know I was really trying to say 'MANICURE' trend!!! LOL :)
Merci beaucoup et Thanks again Debbie for hosting this party!!
OMG Debbie!!! I hate getting burnt by the glue gun, but I think this takes the cake! That is maybe a Halloween manicure? Just looks painful and likely to hurt someone!
Ohhhh, so simple, but what a difference!
Looks really good. Sorry about the ingernail. Ouch!
Your curtains look fantastic!
Thanks for the great idea, Debbie.
xx

Debbie,
You are one smart and clever lady.
Dee
What a great fix! I'm the same way about sewing - hot glue is much easier!!
Thanks for hosting :)
I always have the same problem with curtains!! Such a cute solution, though!
that eyelet lace goes sooo well with your decor in that room (which i love by the way). i had the same problem with my curtains (only i have about a 10 inch gap. i found some fabric to make a band at the bottom. will let you know when i get them done :)
Hi, Debbie! Pardon me for linking up. I just zoomed right in not realizing that it's for bloggers less than 6 months. Please delete my link then. Btw, thanks for joining us again at the Creative Bloggers' Party & Hop. Anything to help new bloggers is welcome in my party :)

Debbie - ouch about the nail! I have a glue gun, but I haven't gotten up the nerve to use it yet.
Great work on the drapes. I never thought of using a glue gun as a sewing machine. :)
Cheers,
Tracy
Love the manicure Debbie! You have just given me a great idea for the curtains in my bedroom. I do have a question though... With the addition of the hot glue, can the curtains be washed?
~ Tracy
What a great idea! Love it! It adds just an extra hint of femininity to an already beautiful room.
Great job! and easy too, looks good and romantical!

What a great solution to a big problem. Now your curtains look like their petticoat is showing. I love it..........
Thanks for hosting
there's more than that stuck to my french manicure ... like dirt, paint, hot glue, and a little moss
lol

You did *gooood* girl, I'm impressed for sure!

Would never know those are glue-gunned curtains! I made a skirt for my computer table and totally hot glued part of the hem. Glad to know I'm not alone! Linking up to your party again-thanks :)
OUCH!!!I love my hot glue gun AND my fabric glue, anything to help me distract myself from the fact that I can not sew!
Thanks for hosting this! I'm brand new and looking to find other great blogging buddies!
