It has been quite apparent in my life that I am NO gardener.
I do well with certain things year after year and that is what I stick with.
You all know about my recent Cilantro kill, which btw I replaced the pot with a succulent.( I have to erase cilantro and chalk in succ)!
Speaking of succulents, they seem to be all the rage lately.
I have seen a succulent wreath, succulent pots and just some random succulent shots in blogland.
With the school year coming to an end shortly, I was thinking on what to get as teacher gifts.
I thought I would get a little crafty along with a nice gift card and some strawberry bread mix that I bought at our local peach stand.
|
Started with some simple cheapo clay pots. |
|
I hand painted them with craft chalk board paint. Then I put each teachers initials on them, added the twine and a little scrap book embellishment. |
Nothing too fancy, however thrifty, yet cute. Put in a pretty bag, with a gift card and the strawberry cake mix, and there you have something personal for a special teacher.
Teachers deserve all the recognition and appreciation we can give them.
Jack has had a great year because of them.

Teachers do deserve recognition, Debbie. Theses are so cute, and I think the strawberry cake mix is a great idea, too.
That is such an awesome idea! I never know what to get- usually end up getting them a gift card. I love this idea- especially with the chalk board paint- it makes it very scholastic ;)
Debbie, I know the teachers are going to appreciate these thoughtful gifts. That from a veteran teacher of 30+ years. ;-)

What great gift ideas. They will love those. And yes word verification is still driving me nuts, too.
Very cute gift and yes teachers do deserve recognition!
Debbie what a great gift idea, I think I might just have to copy you:)
I used to be a teacher way back when, and I would have LOVED this gift...lucky teachers! You're right, the right teacher/student match makes all the difference! I can't wait for summer vacation. I'm totally over making school lunches!!
The teacher will love them!
what a lovely gift, I agree with the word verification,,.It sure does slow down the process,
Debbie- What a great gift idea for teachers! It is personal AND reasonable! Love it! xxoo Diana
I know I would appreciate a gift like that!
Teachers appreciate anything ~ trust me.
I agree about word verification. I took it off my blog and I'm not even posting yet!
Now that is something the teachers will really appreciate!!
Carol
Wow, very nice gift! And yes, succulents ARE all the rage now! (And no, I don't have even one!)

What a neat teacher gift! I wished I would of thought of that when my kids were in school! Great idea!
Debbie, I love that. School ending kind of snuck up on me this year! I had a picture frame craft that I wanted to do and it just didn't happen. I love these pots though! That is awesome! I collected gift cards from each family (almost each family!) and the kids painted flowers. I attached them to branches and put them in a pot and added shredded green paper for grass! Instant class gift for the end of the year! As a former teacher, I always appreciated gift cards or sweet goodies like you have done! Those are super thoughtful and well appreciated!
Love these pots and the teachers will too. Who needs another coffee mug?!
Thank you for hosting the newbie party (my first) and for stopping by my blog. I had a bunch of smiles today courtesy of you!
Such thoughtful, creative gifts, Debbie! I know they will really be appreciated! Good teachers are really a gift to our kids!
How sweet...they will LOVE them!
Those are really cute! I am thinking they will make a great gift for a housewarming party I am attending. And since succulent plants grow from branches broken off and stuck in the soil, it's going to be really cheap too!
Oh, and I THINK I got rid of the word verification thingy...I hope...lol
Great idea! And thanks for the tip that succulents are all the rage - just so happens I am no longer just chubby, I'm succulent!
Awesome idea. It's the perfect teacher gift.
testing, problems with blogger..testing, this is just test!
Awesome idea Debbie! Love them.
Hi Debbie Dear! Oh, I love the little pots with the succs in them. I know the teachers will love them. Do you ever sit still? You just tickle me. I wish I had just a tad of your energy! :)
Well, I've said it before - you're young - I'm old! That's it! :)
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
I'm back! I tried two times earlier to leave a comment and it didn't recognize me. Urrgh! Anywho! I love giving plants to teachers because I thing this is something they will really enjoy. Your painted chalkboard pots with the twine are so cute. Great idea!
The plants look so beautiful in your pretty pots!! Word verification makes me say bad things to my computer...HAHA.
Great idea for a thank you gift! I love how they can rename the pots if they switch out what's in them. Thanks for sharing.
Those are beautiful plants,Debbie! Your pots really are great too! Very creative!
Perfect! I hope my husband gets one of these next week!
Good teachers are a treasure. They will be thrilled with these gifts. Very thoughtful. thanks for sharing. Hugs, Ginger :)
I would absolutely love one of these as a gift from one of my students. You did a great job transforming the pots....very creative! Maybe I'll have to steal this idea for my son's teacher.
Debbie, these are wonderful gifts for teachers! BTW, I'm a hit and miss kind of gardener, too, so succulents are right up my alley!
What a great idea Debbie!!! I think any teacher would love them. Love the special chalkboard pots too.
Succulents are the best. I have several on my front porch, they can tolerate the heat in Texas!
Great idea, Debbie !! Love how you painted the pots and added the chalk ... so creative !!
Fabulous teacher gift idea Debbie! Will pass it along to my daughter.
What a great idea for the teachers....I just made a couple of these for my counter but never thought to give them as gifts. Thanks for the idea!
Marianne :)
Your gifts are adorable and I know they will be appreciated! Teachers do not receive enough monetary compensation nor appreciation IMHO. They are incredible influences on our children, grands for me, and deserve so much!
Thanks for the reminder re: word verification too ~ hate it.
