Move Over Paula Deen (Fried Green tomatoes)

Fried green tomatoes.
Never ate one in my life until we moved to the South!
My  friend Laurian, whom I have talked about before..HERE
is one fabulous cook!
She often wants to teach me some of her recipes, however, I decline!
You know why?
Some things are best left  up to the experts!
Let me share with you just a light meal she whipped up for us last night.

I just love the vibrant green of these tomatoes!

I believe this is flour and seasoned cornmeal!

Very light on the oil as you can see...NOT!
of course a very old cast iron pan.
This puppy was HOT HOT HOT!

Let me just explain this burger..
vidalia onion flavored burger...
caramelized onion, and I do believe she added sugar to the mix...
fried green tomatoes,
Dukes mayonnaise, provolone cheese on a toasted bun.
GONE in just a few seconds...
memories will last a life time on this burger, let me tell ya!
Cheesy potatoes on the side..

Delicious double chocolate cake for dessert.
Fresh Watermelon, frozen watermelon..which I did not get a picture..

This is Laurian's cutie pie...he and Jack met in Kindergarten and now going into 5th grade...
BOOO HOOO!

The evening could not have been better.
Thanks Laurian, you are the best!~
XO

See you all tomorrow night for the newbie party!

I love fried green tomatoes!! (The movie wasn't bad either!) But I've never thought to try them on a burger. Hhhmmmm, sounds like something we'll be trying very soon here in our "diner". Enjoy your Saturday.

Lookin' good Debbie.

I have always fried tomatoes in a skillet. However, this summer, while J was deep frying fish at the lake, he breaded green tomato slices and deep fried them. So good with the fish!

I hate fried green tomatoes last night as well. I did a little egg and milk dip first then mixed a little corn meal with the flour. I think the secret is to have deep oil and have it really hot. Turn once. I added a little bacon drippens to the oils as well, couldn't help my self. Ate till I was sick. Thanks for sharing, Richard at My Old Historic House.

Oh that looks good! I was weeding the garden today and a green tomato fell off. I though I'd try and fry it up. I've never done it either. But then I forgot it was down there and stepped right on it! Ugh, I will wait for some ore to get bigger to try it out.
