Staining Furniture, versus painting, Phase II of the Outdoor Dream!

I am really going to spread this outdoor dream area out in my postings.
PHASE I HERE
It is being done all in stages and it has been so much fun and a joy to see my vision all coming together!

These are our new outdoor Adirondack rockers.  Mike is so organized when he has a project to do.
Not me, I would have had every nut and bolt all over the place!
But they would have been together, not saying they would have stayed together!

Today Mike and I spread 11 bales of pine needles around the perimeter or our new deck.  I knew I could not do away entirely without them.
I am OK with it because it still looks rustic, yet I do not have to walk and slide all over them.

I mentioned I would be having lots of color out here.
Instead of traditionally painting our chairs, we went the staining route with color
.

Spray painting I have found it chips and peels over time and just not easy to sand off when having to redo.
I am done spray painting outdoor chairs!

Finally a place for my Spanish rustic horse head!
Some people do not care for this horse head, I happen to like it, I just needed the right spot for it,
and now I do believe I found it!

We have plenty of wood for those Fall and Winter fires we plan on having!

Here is the stain brand and name of the color we used.
Mike says the chairs look like a dill pickle...
I love pickles!

After staining the chairs, we applied three coats of polyurethane.
Easy maintenance just wipe up, and perhaps yearly add a fresh coat of poly.

There is certainly more to come out here..but as you can see it is coming along nicely.
Perhaps some pretty plants and containers, mums for Fall, etc.
I can't wait to decorate!

I have a feeling we are going to make lots of fun memories out here to come...

Phase III coming soon.
Have a great night, and thank for stopping over.

Absolutely gorgeous!!!! It would be Debbie's porch without some color to it. I am so glad you said that about spray painting outdoor furniture. I have a bench that I have been debating over! Those rocking adirondack chairs are awesome! I have never seen them in a rocker before. They are great! You will make it so gorgeous with your flowers and things. I can't wait to see the next phase!

Your outdoor space is really coming along. That was a great idea to stain rather than paint the chairs. I painted some with a brush-took forever to get into every nook and cranny! I bet you can't wait for a cool evening to have a fire out there.

Lookin' good, Deb! The rocking Adirondack chairs are like nothing I've ever seen before. How cool. I went shopping for more outdoor furniture yesterday. There's not much left- I still have to put our 4 Adirondack chairs together, but not now- no room. The yard is slowly coming together- the pavers were begun and the patios are starting to take shape. ~ Sue

I love the green, looks so good,, may I ask a stupid question,, the pine needle stuff, its not flamable right? Is it treated or something,, because pine needles in the bush here are flammable big time,,

I love how it all looks. I love pickles, too, so I'm really loving the paint on those chairs. I also really like the looks of the pine needles on the edge of the bricks.

I have never heard of bales of pine needles. Must be it is regional. I have also never seen an Adirondack chair in a rocker. You hit some great scores, and great color choices. Your space looks fantastic:)

Debbie,
Your chairs looks great! I like your outdoor space. We have chairs like that and they are so comfortable! We also sit by a fire outback by them almost every weekend. When the teens were younger we all sit there, now it's us and the youngest, kids just love campfires. It will be great for memories. Enjoy! And thanks for linking it to Home Sweet Home!

Love the pine needles. We can't get them here in Ohio. I asked around a several years ago after I had seen them at Augusta National during the Masters. All we have up here is mulch. Enjoy your new space...it's incredible.

I have painted my adirondacks 19,000 times. I wish I had stained them in the first place. Have you ever put the horse's head in your bed for your husband to find (aka the Godfather)? I don't know if I could resist.

It's really looking great. I'm all for the staining vs. painting. Lasts longer and the pealing isn't nearly half as bad. Love the green color you choose. That fire pit has me dreaming of a cool fall evening roasting marshmallows, making s'mores and snuggling in a blanket.
