Bittersweet day!

Happy Sunday~~!
Yesterday was a bitter sweet day for our families of Fort Mill High School band.
They  had long awaited for THIS day.

Although, every competition this year has been undefeated, they have come in first place, and also
made history at the bands of America in Akron Ohio.
Yesterday, Fort Mill placed second in the State, out of 17 other bands in South Carolina.

The band that came in first, are their friendly rivals.
Nation Ford High School, which is also in Fort Mill, South Carolina.
Obviously, a very large talent pool of kids here in one place.
Congratulations Nation Ford!
Job well done indeed.

Alex and Jordan still smiling, and very proud of their accomplishments.
Of course, they have all worked so hard, and really wanted to be Number one, it is certainly a bitter sweet lesson to be learned in life.  They are clear winners in our eyes.
CONGRATULATIONS!
I wanted to share this video from the Band of America's show in Akron, Ohio.
This is where they made history that will last a life time here.
I think you will be blown away at the fact these kids are just in High School.
The show was Vertigo, based on the Alfred Hitchcock movie.
So yes, at times you see confusion, and spinning, that is part of the show.
check it out!
See you later for the Magazine copy cat challenge.

I know a lot of work goes into these shows and it really showed. I enjoyed watching the video. They really are amazing to watch and hear. I know they're disappointed about not coming in first (and being beaten by their rival) but they should be proud of all they've accomplished throughout the season.

I am definitely blown away, Debbie. They did an incredible job and that is a ton of talent! They should be really, really proud of how well they did. How many hours do they practice each week to get to that level of skill?

I watched the video and those are some super talented kids. I don't think they could have picked a much harder piece to play though-AND to put motion to it! I loved the part midway through when it slowed down and they did the long snake-like formation to regroup. GREAT JOB-I can see why they are winners! xo Diana

They are so amazing! One of my daughters used to be in marching band when she was in high school and I know how much work and effort these kids put into their routines not to mention they have to play their instruments while doing it. Bravo!

Congratulation to your son and his band - an amzaing accommplishment! Akron Ohio is just "up the road" from me. My son was a drummer active in high school and college and in a drum corp as well. He's still a good drummer, so this something you and your son will remember forever. Happy Days!! Peggy

Debbie, I bet your community is thrilled that both bands did exceptional. Enjoyed the video. The young ladies with the band front were amazing too. Does you son want to play in the band at the university level? My son has a friend that made the band at West Virginia and he said it is amazing to play in the big stadiums with everyone cheering. You can't even hear the instrument beside you.:-) In fact he is there on a militry scholorship he is going to be playing in the band for the army. Not a bad gig huh? :-)

Congratulations to them! I was in marching band in high school and we were almost always the top band at competitions so I know how they feel to come in second when you're used to first. I watched their performance and it was wonderful! They should be very proud of all the hard work they put into it and for the superior performance!

Awesome!!! I understand the "bittersweet" My son just finished his 1st marching band season, one of the many firsts and lasts of High School. My daughter graduated last year and its sad that the days of watching her march are over. Life is all about changes.... and this Mom thinks that the changes happen way too fast! Congrats!!!
