They always come back!

I have decided I needed to throw in a project for this week.  I have so much spinning in my mind. I am so excited to share and reach out to all you new bloggers. I hope so far you are enjoying and learning. Lots more to come TRUST me, you don't want to miss.

For years now I have had roosters in my kitchen, even in our South Florida home, where everyone else was doing palm trees and shells.
I do from time to time remove them, add something else, and then they make their way back.  I suppose I just like them! As many of us do out here in blog land.
I gave you a sneak peek of something last week...remember?
Did you guess yet?
Sometimes the simplest thing can be an inspiration, without even realizing it.
As these once black stools, then painted raspberry red, sat in my garage.
That trip to HOBBY LOBBY had done my brain some good.
Again, husband scared, not knowing, what will I do next....he waited patiently for the end result.
Much to his surprise, I guess, I came up with something pretty good! Mike does know I am creative, and I can come up with some good stuff...he also worries first what it will cost him and second, what I am cluttering up.
Now if you noticed how I taped these chairs off, I did the entire chair as though each square would be painted....however, I skipped some in between, made it random, and not so busy..COUGH!
I am pretty tickled with the end result.
I have painted and been creative in the past with many furniture pieces while living in Florida.  This is the first time since living here in the Carolina's that I have done furniture with a twist. I adore painted furniture of any kind, with art work on it.  I forgot how much I love to do it myself, and will be continuing on this path.  One problem though, I have to buy the furniture.
I may sand these chairs some more to give a real rustic look. For now, I am liking them shiny and new.

It's DONE, Creative HIGH PART II

I do not let any grass grow under my feet as the saying goes! I had it pretty much in my mind I was going to do it, I was excited in fact!  However, my biggest opinion needed was every step or every other.  So this is how the story goes.
Pretty drab really when you look at it.
I saw this pretty stencil while at Hobby Lobby, and that is when it hit me.
Mike happened to be with me, I KNOW poor guy at Hobby Lobby on his day off. And I asked him his thoughts.  He was not happy to be honest at FIRST
But like we said, it's only paint.
I have to be honest, I really don't like it
I LOVE IT!

I even started to decorate for Valentines day, just a tad here and there so far.

This shield is on the left going up the stairs

And we have this pretty vintage light in the area as well.

Someone mentioned it being a tedious job. NOT at all. It took me about an hour hour and half at most. Really simple, cheap, and I think it adds a lot to dreary area of the house.
I mixed these two colors. First I did the penny color, and then lightly rolled the black for a shading appearance. These little rollers are AWESOME to use when stenciling.
FUNNY, Jack came home from school today and he said "WOW Mom I love the stairs, you are really getting good at painting like an artist" I said Thank you son. Does he really need to know the truth??

Now the problem is, I want to stencil everything in site!
Thank you all for your opinions, that was great!

Christmas in the kitchen

I have only shown you my dinette area and some snippets of the kitchen.  Again keeping it all simple this year. I tend to over do it sometimes, and then I get sick of the clutter I feel we have.  So far so good this year, I am loving it!
I found this wooden snowman last year at Marshalls, thought it was perfect for behind the stove area. I added a string of beads, and added a few snowflakes to the string.

This cider canister we found in October at an antique store. It is not that old, but we loved it! And for $12.00 how could you go wrong?

These books displayed I bought at Goodwill a couple of weeks ago, for a buck a piece.

The pretty trees behind the sink I bought at the WOW store. It is a local decor store, rememeber the one I did the commercials for.  The tree's where on clearance for $7.00 each, plus I received 20% off. You may notice that is a wine bottle with soap in it. The bottle has a rooster on it, and I thought it would make for a good soap dispenser.

Simple lime green balls, a few glitz and some glam of beads

I was going to add some live greenery to the top of the cabinets. As you see I really do not decorate on top.  To me it is way too cluttered to have decor up there.  At one time in my life, I would have them jammed packed with all my tea cups and pot collections. I have two sets up there now, and I do change those out per season.  I can't handle dusting all the time up there. Not to mention, it is not that easy up and down on a ladder. Safety is no accident is my MOTTO!

I'm so excited!

I am a huge fan of FALL. I love the season and I love the warm colors.
That was pretty much the deciding factor when choosing our interior colors. We have a very open floor plan, very little walls dividing the rooms.  That can pose a problem when trying to create warmth.  The color we have chosen for most of our living space is called Butter. It is by restoration hardware.  We love it, and the nice thing about this color, is just about everything goes with it.
I just love the backdrop here, love Mother nature! THis is why I keep these windows free of window treatments.
This side window brings in a lot of natural light, I need blinds...HERE are my new valances! I love them....New valances are from Walmart! Loves them.....

Of course it led to a mini project...Have you ever seen me paint anything white? NO, but I like it, not sure for how long though.
And here it was black

What glorious Fall indeed! We are at peak now.

If you are new to my blog. I would like for you to take a few moments to see some of my new features.  I am on a mission to helping all the newbie blogs out. Although, I have only been blogging a year myself, I know how it feels to be the new kid in town.  Please check out my tutorials, and coffee chat series.
Also Every Monday I will be doing a newbie linkie party for blogs 6 months or less and/or less than 100 followers.  The first one was a huge success.

kitchen flashbacks

These pics are in no certain order, RANDOM I will say, of my Many kitchen changes. I have chosen to only really show you the dinette area, as this post would be 300 pictures with all the other changes included.
Kitchen current state of mind!
This was fun to look at all my picture archives and see my kitchen changes in the past year or so....I thought I would put together my kitchen changes post for Miss Sheila over at Note songs for her Party. Thanks Sheila for hosting.
Orange in the kitchen, home made burlap pillows
You will see I have a thang for table runners, I just love how they change the look
I really love the green and blues for the summer time

This rooster has been many different colors since this original post
My Bon Appetit is no longer, and this was LAST Fall sorry for the picture quality
THis was last X-mas, again bad picture quality
This is more current
I love to change the centerpieces often too. So you see I have a versatile style, and color changes for each season, each week really if I want to. I am due for a new runner soon. I may have to make one:)
Thanks for stopping by, and your lovely comments, I look forward to seeing your kitchen tour too!
JUST A Reminder: Tomorrow is my Before and After Party. Hope to see you then.
