Do you have the winter blues?

Winter can be tough for some of us.
In fact many even suffer from winter depression., better known as SAD  (Seasonal Affective disorder)
I would say I am a so and so on that one. I can admit it, I have some of those side effects.
Of course living in the Carolina's we do not have terrible winters. And we see the sun often,  actually most of the time. HOWEVER, we are under a Winter weather advisory now....UGH!
Can I just tell you that this candle smells the entire house, yes the ENTIRE house! Oh so good!

I am a firm believer that color affects your mood. In fact see for yourself HERE this is so true for me.

Can you believe these strawberries from Target this time of year were absolutely delicious?

Red has taken over this month around here. Could it be because Red: (think passion) stimulates, arouses, heightens awareness. Sounds good to me!

Not only did this dessert taste delicious, it looked so pretty too.
Needless to say, gone within minutes!
Does not get any easier than this. Angel food cake, layered with fat free cool whip, fresh strawberries.....

and just  a few walnuts on top and you have a delicious, low fat dessert.
I would recommend you investing a few dollars in a TRIFLE bowl, they are a great thing to have, and you can really get creative when using them.

That does look good. I do have a trifle bowl. Yep, you can use it for a lot of things. We are ready for this darn storm coming, too. I pray we don't lose power, but we have Doug's propane heaters from his garage to use if we do.

I don't have the winter blues [yet] however every now and than I think about the upcoming Spring and Summer and can't help but get a little excited.. but than I think about the 500% humidity that typically starts around March and my mind quickly switches back to winter lol!

That trifle looks delicious!!!

I love doing trifles for dessert. Who knew middle of the winter Target strawberries could be delicious? I'll have to give them a whirl.

Seriously? Those strawberries are good? I have been finding awful ones here--but then we don't have a Target close to us that is a Superstore. Sam's had some wonderful ones at Christmastime.

I know a lot of people that suffer from SADD. I don't like all the grey days that this time of year brings either, but I don't suffer the depression that some people do. Today, here, it is bright and sunny and beautiful...very unlike our weather most years. Of course, it is at the zeroº mark outside~brrrrr.

I hope the storm doesn't do much damage there and I know how awful it is for all of you Southern gals who are not used to driving in snow and ice...and you don't have the road equipment to handle it...nor the crews on standby.

Happy Sunday anyway-stay inside where it is warm and dry..build a fire, put an old movie on and eat chocolate! Yep- that is MY cure for SADD~ Hugs-Diana

Hi Debbie...Have not heard of that candle brand. I agree with you that having a trifle bowl is a must. As a matter of fact, I'm giving one as a birthday gift this afternoon.

Filling it with a decadent caramel sauce and real heavy cream, though, plus angel food cake so the recipe is NOT a low cal one, like the yummy strawberry one.

Hope you have a terrific Sunday. Susan

Yes, I do get the winter blues. So far it hasn't set in; although, I am feeling very restless.

I love that you can get sweet strawberries year 'round now. We had some last night for dinner and I ate the few that were left this morning.

Where did you get those beautiful heart-shaped bottles?

Hi Debbie, Love this post! I don't have the winter blues...perhaps because like you I love in Va....with much sun (but snow coming tomorrow or a wintry mix as they say) but I do have the winter whites. I am itching to change my family room to white. Love all your reds in this post and the trifle bowl. I bought one a couple of years ago and use it often. Makes such an elegant dessert. xoxo

That looks delicious! It sort of looks like an English trifle:) We don't get really bad weather here so I love it when we get some gloom altho it would get to me if it was relentless.

Wow, you're only an hour from my brother...we will totally have to get together when I go there! I'd love to do some real life blabbing!!! I'm not sure what you meant about the email thing but I need to change my profile anyway so I'll try to figure it out. Enjoy the rest of the weekend:)

Hi, Debbie~
I must say I am a winter gal. I love the colder weather. I don't do well with the high humidity and mosquitoes of summer. Yuck!
Your dessert looks yummy. My mom makes that a lot. It is very good...and pretty!
I got some strawberries at Food Lion yesterday. Katie and I have eaten almost all of them already. Ours were really good too!
I hope you will have a great week. Stay safe in all the winter weather! :)

Debbie we are under a winter storm watch here in Myrtle Beach as well. You are so right us Carolinians can't drive on drive pavement let alone snow or ice. If it snows or there is ice,Myrtle Beach will shut down.LOL

I am wondering how this winter weather advisory will turn out. I kind of want schools to close so we don't have to leave the house. Your dessert looks great. I need to invest in a trifle bowl. You must be in North Carolina because I don't know of any Super Targets in South, well not in Columbia or Charleston.

YUM! That dish would cure my winter blues in a skinny minute. It looks so good! I can just taste it. I've never used this brand of candle before I will have to look for one. I have been burning my candles like crazy lately too though, it really does help with making me feel cozier during these cold wintery days. Hope you all stay safe and warm. No school for us already, but I'm really going to be surprised if we get any snow. We'll see!
