Yep, you heard me! My son wound up with Goodwill duds for his big day!
I went to 4 other stores before I hit GW up. He is in such an awkward size right now. He is tall and thin like his Dad of course. Boys clothes do not fit him, and Men's clothes are iffy, depending.
I think he looked pretty darned good.
He was happy with the duds...and for a whopping $20.00 Mom done good!
The suit jacket came from Goodwill. Tie is Mike's and he had the black shirt already.
He has that serious look. He said he felt very grown up tonight.
Of course some of the Kid's wanted to know if that was Mike's Jacket...he said, ummmm...you see my Dad he is 6'4 LOL!
Ok the shoes...all Italian leather, looked never worn...$3.50!
These fine young men are in the ROTC program in High school. Alex is planning to do ROTC. Although, he has no desire to join the Military. He is looking forward to the experience of training and learning. ( really he wants muscles I think to impress the girls...I'm just sayin)
He is excited, and says he is up for the challenge, and that it will be.
And there he is amongst the other class mates whom also received this honorable award.
We are in a wonderful school system. Our experience here has been nothing but positive and very promising for the future.
Thank you for sharing our special day.
Can you believe Alex let me post about himAGAIN?
I think it's pretty cool of him..I won't push it much longer though...
I love you Alex!!~

So handsome! You can tell he's full of personality, too! Congrats on his award! I love the last picture, capturing not only the students, but the proud parents snapping their pictures ... great shot! *Becca*
He's such a handsome young man! You must be so proud of him for the award:) My oldest son and his GF love GW, they call the clothes there "vintage" lol.
You have quite a handsome son there, Debbie! I'm sure you're very proud of him, as well you should be!

Debbie, you did do good. He is so handsome. I didn't realize your husband is that tall. My hubby is short, but my brother is 6.2 and my son is 6 ft. It is so good that Alex is in a good school system.
Your son is owning that look! Very handsome. What award did he win, Debbie? (congrats on the award, too)
Oh my gosh! What a cutie pie!!! I love this picture of him. I have a 14 year old son and it's impossible to get a picture of him. When my camera comes out he...heads for the hills. Looks, like it was an incredible night!!!

I know all about wanting muscles.... my teenage son is in his second month of doing P90X and everyday he has to show me all his muscles that are growing!please????)
He is so cool and supportive of Mom. I love all the parents taking photos of those great students. My sons weren't in ROTC but one went in the Coast Guard. They're a great group. Congrats to your son again.
Oh Debbie, what a handsome son you have and I can tell just how proud you are of him! Congrats to you my friend.

You are such a proud mama! He is a handsome young man and looked great. Love all the photos.
Debbie not only smart but handsome too, you couldn't ask for a better combo. He looks like he has your personality too, I bet the girls are already calling(LOL)!! Martina
Congrats again to Alex! He looks so handsome! WD is also in that awkward stage where men's clothes aren't quite right, but boys' clothes don't fit right either. I need to start shopping GW for him. He's too tall for boys pants, but men's pants start at 29 with the occasional 28. I know that back when we were kids they started with a 27 waist band. Thanks for sharing.
Congrats on his award....such a handsome young man! XOXO ~Liz
He is one handsome guy and he has good sense for being so young and planning his future, you raised him well Debbie!!!

Alex looks so handsome and grown-up
(brings a tear to your eye ... doesn't it?)!
You did a great job clothes shopping! It's so hard at that age ... You want something nice, but don't want to spend too much. They will either not wear it again or grow out of too fast.
Congratulations to both of you on a job well done!
He is very handsome...and very proud of him Mom, too! He'll tell you some day! I talked to my son this morning and he's in his 40s and tells me lots of sweet things NOW! heehee! You did GREAT with his outfit! He looks distinguished! ♥
My sons are so tall and so thin that buying clothes for them is almost impossible. You did great! And Alex looks very handsome. Congrats!
Wow you did do great. For $20? He looked great and I am sure you were so proud. Yeah!!
Oh that is wonderful Debbie!
Debbie! My darn blog is NOT updating my blogroll!!! I am missing all of my friends post! Congrats to you smart boy!! He looks sharp!!! And coming from a Mom of a 6'5" son, I HATED to spend big bucks on things when he was growing like a weed!! No sense in buying clothes at full price when they won't fit next week! LOVE your WIWW outfit! Loved the segment on the pedi paw..what a hoot!!!
Congrats to Alex! And serious props to mom for finding his dress duds for $20. GW is awesome. I am glad Alex let you share ;).
Truly a handsome young man! I love his name and his style. My husband was in ROTC in college and did go into the AF from there. Not such a bad life.. :)
Loved this post.
What a handsome guy! I know how hard it is to fit them sometimes. At 17 mine is a string bean. 6'1" and not an ounce of fat on his bones. All arms and legs and a small neck. I'm so hoping he will fill out soon! You did good Debbie, the shoes are really nice.
He's such a handsome kid! He looks very put together in his Goodwill jacket...I'd never have known if you didn't say it. You did a great job Mom! (both with the clothes & obviously with your son).
What great finds, good job!!! And proud of your son for letting you get him something from there says volumes about his character.
So grown up looking--quite the handsome young man. Good for you on the bargain jacket. It's looks great. I enjoyed seeig the pics. Peggy

If you've ever noticed my 17 year old son on the blog, he's 6 feet tall and 110 pounds. He wears 28x33 jeans. I totally feel your shopping dilemma! But you did indeed succeed, and he looks quite handsome. Besides being a genius.
Congrats to your son! What a handsome guy and he looks great in his new suit. WTG on your GW finds mama!!!
He is looking mighty fine! Congrats to him also. Love that you thrifted the jacket and shoes! My son (now 24) once wore a 'thrifted' sports coat on his Sr. Trip cruise.
