Romantic Bedroom is stuck in a decorating slump..need some input.

So I am in the last phase of our bedroom decorating.
What to do over the bed is my biggest challenge.
THe bed itself is so gorgeous I really do not want to take away from it..
However, I need a lil something something, don't you think?
I love decorating with plates,
I love mirrors too,
I thought of something vintage in black and white...
Can you give a girl some insight, thoughts, ideas would be
GR8888!
Here is what the headboard of the bed looks like..and I will show you some of the pieces in the room thus far,
hopefully you can get the gist of how it is coming together without me giving too much away...

Romantic accessories

Cream, which is really a pale yellow...
Now onto some examples of what I have seen, that may interest me..
going for the Paris/French shabby chic romantic feel,
ya know I am such a romantic ( ha,ha)

Then there are mirrors over the bed idea...
perhaps something a little more vintage looking...

I really love this look, but I know my Husband and he will say no way NO HOW!
Our room is already heading in a direction, he was not planning on LOL!

Maybe I can make something romantic, and shabby over the bed..
or maybe just do a hodge podge of things,

Perhaps I go with nothing and just let the bed be
the main focal point and my accessories around it play the room...

Looks like you are going for a vintage romantic look. How about a collection of hand mirrors above the bed?

Throw in your love of both things and do a platter with your initials in black and then do some soft vintage prints of pink roses or flowers on each side. I have a pretty one of some pink crepe myrtles that I could do a vintage texture over and give to you and then something with pink roses since you have them in there! Pretty, pretty!

Your headboard is gorgeous!!!!

I love that idea Kathryn..the problem is the MAN...I am trying to keep it where it is NOT too feminine..I had suggested something with roses in it, and he was LIKE NO WAY, not liking it LOL!

What you have already done looks amazing Debbie! I am dying for a vintage mirror, just one vintage mirror but they're so expensive! I hung a mirror over our bed, being that we're in earthquake country I'm a bit nervous but it's on a hook so hopefully it doesn't fall on us.

You have such great style, you'll figure it out and it will be amazing when you do!!! I visit so many blogs and I start getting in a frenzy about all this stuff then I figure, you know what...I am who I am and my style is my style. You have such a fun style Debbie and it's part of who you are so don't leave that out!

Are you planning on redoing your headboard? I have covered a couple of headboards like that with stuffing and material, that would give it a little more romantic look depending on the fabric you choose. I also love the mirrors. If you can find some vintage frames at thrift stores simply buy a mirror (craft store) to add to them... MUCH CHEAPER ;)

Debbie with your style bed I think white ironstone plates and platters would look great. Maybe not as many as that first photo.

I'm voting for mirrors, do you have an Ikea near you, they have a great collection of vintage looking mirrors, inexpensive and I think they come in a grouping of 3-5

First I must say that I just love your new bed. Wonderful choice! And I think that some pretty white plates would look fabulous over that bed. It's not to frilly for hubby and pretty for you. I just think that it will complete the vintage look that you have created.

Definitely framed mirrors. You can always change the colors with your changing taste. Do an assortment of shapes and sizes. Some vintage, some not. Have fun with it. Or do empty frames?? Layer them?

Debbie you always come up with great crafty projects. I love the twigs over the iron bed. Maybe you can give it your own fem twist and make it more beautiful and romantic.
Hey you can always go my route and empty out your junk drawers and have them glued on boards to hang over your bed. lol

I am a plate girl....if you were to stroll around my home, you would see plates of all sizes in every room. My Father-in-law once said, "You can eat in every room of Tonya's house because she has dishes everywhere!" I know you will make the right decision!

Weeeell, you could always hang a big ol' deer head. :) Yah, try seeing THAT over your head in the morning. Actually, I've finally convinced mine to let them live in the basement...where they are together...and happy. :) You always do amazing things. Whatever you do, hang it well: somebody I know had something over their bed and it fell in the night and hit the bridge of their nose. Thankfully they were alright, but what a fright to wake to!! Can't wait to see what you chose!! LOVE it so far!!!

I think one large piece or two good size pieces of vintage, bordello-looking, Parisian themed art would look great. If you put a collection of plates or mirrors over your headboard, the beauty of the headboard will be compromised.

What a lovely, lovely room. And that lamp is WONDERFUL!!!!!!!!!!!

oooh! so many possibilities to choose from :o) How much space above your headboard to the ceiling? I love both the platters and the vintage mirrors (Oh! I do love a grouping of ornate, various shaped empty frames too...that you could paint and distress)... What about a quote or phrase painted on your wall...some "love or romance" inspired quote? And if you don't want something permanent...what about some quote made from the vinyl wall stick up things that are so popular?
Whatever you decide will look amazing!!! Love how it is coming together!

Blessings & Aloha!
Thank you my friend for your visit!

Depending on what is around the room, maybe an indiscreet architectural piece can be fun and won't take away from the bed. too much going on on top of the head board might be too busy. Just throwing it out there for some ideas. I bet your head is spinning with ideas now. Good luck and can't wait to see what you choose.

We have curtains behind our bed. I know that sounds crazy, but it's totally jiving with the "romance" feel you're going for. Just a thought...here's mine:

I'm up for the idea of little or nothing...or little to detract from that wonderful headboard...how about taking that branch idea from your inspiration shots but doing it without the frame? Just a simple, natural branch in the space above the bed...you could hang a little glittery, romantic something from it...or not.
