Did you know my husband is an interior designer? {Gallery wall decorating}

HA! Not sure if Mike is going to appreciate this post, or the title!
But did you know my husband likes to have a say in decorating the house?  Yes, he does and he created a fabulous Gallery wall to call his own.
Mike In fact,  is a creative kind of dude himself. We both love to antique and pick out fun pieces for our home! However this gallery wall is his baby! I had no pick, and  very little say in the matter.
It started with my want for a new piece of furniture to replace the garden table.
In reality, we do not need a new piece, we just had to create around it. More or less build it up.  I like the iron element and it does look nice with the Spanish mirror above it.

Because our ceilings are so high 24ft. I do believe, it is difficult to create a warmth on the walls.
I think Mike nailed it.
Let's take a look at my husband's skills, shall we?

While out antiquing I found this cool, and very old pharmacy light.  It was a total steal at $24.00!
I knew exactly where I would put it.

It goes beautifully with our Spanish mirror.
Which btw, I often get asked about this mirror.

We purchased it in Arizona and had it shipped back home.

This base even has little places for paper clips and what not.
I can feel many of  brilliant people studied under this light.
Now let's see Mike's picks.

I asked of him one thing, or maybe two or three,
first something with color.

Something Old....
Something with texture.

He delievered all of the above.
The best part was it meant something to him. Things that he likes and is interested in.

Oh I must add, I told him a budget.  No more than $200.00 Total for everything.
It was a good budget, but considering we wanted to make  a statement, I had to up my usual dollar tree art work. After all, he is the one who brings home the bacon, he should be able to splurge ONCE in a while.

He created a beautiful gallery wall.

This grouping is either from Splinter groups or from  The Masonic group.  The earliest dates back from the early 1800's and the later from the early 1900's.  I really do not know much about these groups, however my husband is very intrigued and interested so, hey I support his likings too! Besides that, it is unique, and I can just about guarantee NO one I know will have this kind of art in their home.

Mike will LOVE to read your comments, so carry on, rave, tell him how cool he is:)

Now that I showed you this, next week I can show you the entertainment center tweaks that I did.

I'm really pondering my comment....

I could go with a smart azz remark about the erected wall plaque, but I won't.... I could ask for shirtless photos of a buff man pounding in nails.... but I won't.... so guess all I can say is I'm most impressed that a control freak could relinquish control. Lucky for you Mike it turned out good. Debbie is a better woman than I, I can't say I could do that!

He did nail it. It has lots of texture and color. My husband does almost all of our arranging as he just sees spaces and has good spacial reasoning skills and I lack them. Love that old lamp. Great with the live ivy in there too.

Mike , your gallery wall really looks nice. You and Debbie sure are the perfect match! You both have similar tastes in decorating and it works beautifully. Beautiful, absolutely beautiful job Mike! Such a gorgeous montage and how beautifully displayed! Would love to see Mike doing more posts! He does an excellent job! The texture in the pictures and the frames itself add so much to the entire effect on the wall. And I simply love love love that mirror, love that tile work framed in the bronze metal, it is just too perfect for this entire gallery and the gorgeous vignette on the table. Love the embellishments on the pretty candles:) Thanks Debbie and Mike! I needed this inspiration. Reminds me so much of a beautiful Spanish hacienda. Have a great weekend!Poppy

A truly wonderful job Mike! I like the height created above the mirror giving it a 2nd tier! Lots of interest here with the old fashioned reading lamp, candle holders, books and the fabric runner. Your choice of pictures and plaques on the wall are very interesting- gives a person something to stare at and study! Great job indeed!

The framed artwork certificates are so great. I love the old graphics and colors... the details! They are like old Valentine's to me. I think the old graphics are soooo much better from the past, that is one thing that has not gotten better as the years have gone by, in my opinion!

Terrific! Love it! Looks amazing!

Debbie, I'm behind in my comments to your wonderful blog, but I just had comment on this exciting gallery wall your husband created.

One of the things of truly love about your home is that is represents things that mean so much to the family not just items from a design book.

I don't know much about either of the groups featured in the pieces, but I'm proud to say that during my visit to Florida last month, my son was installed as the Worshipful Master at his Masonic Lodge - a very proud moment for this mom I can tell you!

Love what Mike created! Thanks for sharing these unique pieces.
