Wilmington, North Carolina!

Hello there! A few weeks ago my family and I took a little weekend road trip to Wilmington, North Carolina.  Those are always fun especially when they are spontaneous.
We actually went to go meet some good friends of ours who are considering moving to Wilmington, NC.
One of our first stops on the list was the USS North Carolina!

across TTThe river from downtown Wilmington, beckons visitors to walk her decks. Envision the daily life and fierce combat her crew faced in the Pacific Theatre during World War II.

young men who had grown up in the crucible of the Great Depression and now determined to serve their Country in its time of need. These are the men whose stories you will encounter through their oral histories, photographs, and mementos as you experience the Ship and the exhibits.

Step back i Discover and build your personal connection by steering the ship, starting her engines or even firing the guns

My boys truly enjoyed this day! I would recommend the tour for everyone who visits Wilmington.

Not easy though, going up and down the tiny little stairs. The young men back then were very small.
All about a 26 wasteline, which is pretty small.

Aside from the wondeful tourism, we also visited a few beaches.  Wilmington has gorgeous beaches, and I was pretty in aw over the sprawling white sands.

This is one aspect of South Florida, I am certain my husband misses.  The BEACH!

We managed to squeeze in a little shopping and walking the down town area as well.

It was nice to see Alex with his BF together.  They are more like brothers.  Friends since Alex  was 13 months old.

I can only imagine their conversation, I am thinking, all about
GIRLS!

My friends are definitely leaning toward a move there

If you live there or know anyone who does, I would love to hear more about it.  The nice thing for us, is that it is only 3 hours away.  Who knew? I never realized how close we are.
I will say it was a boring 3 hour drive, all back roads from here.

Wilmington looks beautiful Debbie. I haven't ever been there and have always wanted to go. My oldest daughter used to drive there once a month to see her friends at UNCW. We're definitely going to have to plan a trip!

If you hear sirens 3 hours away in the direction of the USS North Carolina, don't worry it's just me - my rear end got wedged in one of those narrow stair ways. Thanks for the heads up, I'm crossing this off my list, I'll just send the flat butt men in my family.

I have never been there. Now, I think it looks like a place on the "to see" list. We usually do the outer banks when we do the beach in NC. I would try Wilmington. It's sort of on the way to DC too.

I would love to see that part of the USA!!! That pic of the two boys on the bed is great! Everyone needs a friend like that!
Hey, in answer to your question...NO, I have never misbehaved at a company party! I don't even drink more than one glass or wine, if at all.
My husband changed jobs right before the holidays. It was a huge move. He has been with our family business for 23 years. I don't speak of it on my blog out of respect for my mother. That was the very first mention I have ever made of him at a new job. It was a good move. But it was also a huge change for everyone.

We're a 2 hour drive from Wilmington. We love going down to the coast to visit Wrightsville Beach. And, I love the old houses around Market Street and the Riverfront! We have friends that live in Wilmington. It's a nice area. Some of the surrounding parts are more rural. Surprisingly, even though our friends live in Wilmington, they rarely go to the beach. If I lived there, I would be at the beach everyday!

Debbie, so nice to see you highlight Wilmington! We live about 30 minutes from Wilmington, and our businesses are both there. My husband was raised in the city and I graduated from UNCW. It is a great town! If you ever come back, let me know. I'd be glad to suggest some great places to eat and shop. Glad you had a great trip! :)
