This is down right embarrassing!

This I have to say, I took a big gulp, held my breath and hit POST!
You know I have been to just about all those lovely crafty, linky parties out there you can imagine. I go gandering around admiring all these talented young girls, who are cute, young, can craft, did I mention can craft? Well I try, so give me a little credit for that, However, I am just not one of those gals, sorry!. Now what I can do, is spray paint, Modge podge, embellish a lamp, make a wreath, not bad, not bad at all.....oh now I can glaze a bit of furniture too, but anything beyond that...... Well........ see for yourself ANOTHER craft idea gone bad.
I decided I would buy a Styrofoam cooler from the dollar tree and some moss sheets.
Surely one of those young, cute crafty bloggette gals would think of that, and come up with something RIGHT?
Well ha, see what Debbiedoos came up with.

Had this genius idea I would cover the cooler in the moss and add some existing Fall flowers. This was a royal pain in the butt to keep the moss sheets on the cooler, which by the way Hot glue does not work on styrofoam ,
So here it goes...letting my breath out now...and swallowing my pride.
 let the fun begin....
an hour later,
pin holes in my finger tips..
this is what I came up with.

Oh yes what a masterpiece.
I sat back and looked at it,
tried real hard to like it....moved it around.....
Even added a monogram to it....oh NO that did not work there either, so off to the laundry room you go.....
Oh yes now you can see the pins started to pop and now I can see the styrofoam...then  I go to turn the dryer on, a big ole mess of moss everywhere.....guess where this baby wound up? took out the flowers, said a few cus words and off to the trash can she went.  I wasted  $4.00 and an hour of my life, so there MARLA....laugh at that one too!
Do you girls want me to add a link craft gone bad here? Or how about funny craft? I will add the link if you have something to share. Otherwise enjoy laughing at me once again!

Debbie, Debbie, Debbie, LOL! If I only had a dollar for every project gone bad, every blow to my fragile ego, every vision that looked waaayyyy better in my head than in real life....and don't even get me started on paint color nightmares...

We need a linky party for Blogging Bloopers. Wouldn't that be a hoot?

Last night our daughter's boyfriend stopped by for Hubby to fix a very bad haircut. Yeah, it was awful. Hubby did some magic with his hair clippers, we all got a good belly laugh and had fun. Your project is that kind of project...good for the heart because it makes us all belly laugh. See, in that respect, it was a very successful project!

Want to send your craft to Hubby and his clippers?

Debbie at least you gave it a go. We all have these moments, but the design in our head does not ammount to that in real life, but then its those odd quirky makes that encourages us to try for something better.

I think it started out looking great! You just needed to put some more moss on where it came loose. Very cute idea.

Oh I wouldn't have thrown it out just yet. You should take all the moss off add sray adhesive as suggested by someone else and press it on even patching areas of moss as needed. Then add some chicken wire around it, now thats really getting crafty and a nice wide wire ribbon around the middle with a large pretty bow and your done! Easier said then done right? LOL! I love the concept Debbie really!

I actually like your mossy cooler, but not with those flowers. You had a great idea, and to me, it seemed pretty original :) I agree about the gorilla glue, go trash diving and get that thing out!! I really like the craft gone bad idea, so if you do it, at least know I'll show up, not that I have bad crafts, um,no(ha!).

Of course you're a crafter...you said so yourself, "now what I can do, is spray paint, Modge podge, embellish a lamp, make a wreath." In my book, that IS a crafter!!!

Hey you tried! That's what counts! I recently spray painted the frame of a bulletin board maroon. I put tape around the edge and just held the newspaper over the center...should have taped it down! I have a light over-spray in the middle of the board :) Luckily the kids paper work will cover most of it, but I did laugh at myself...and still hung it up!

Now Debbie,
I also feel there was potential for that project! Don't be so hard on your self. It was not a bad idea! The scale was off a little. If you had sawed off half of the cooler and hot glued a new bottom on it, or for the sake of pictures left it bottomless (there is a lot of things that don't have to fit in the camera lens!!!) It would have been perfect. I have had many bloopers, in this my first year of blogging. I often swing the camera lens just 1-2 inches on either side of my subject and laugh at what is in the viewfinder, and many times even snapped the picture. I have been thinking how to wrap up the year end. There were a lot of blogs that had bloopers last year. I may do that, I think it would fun.
I made the flourless chocolate cake and it fell into a black lump! LOL We all have bloopers. Love your ability to laugh at it all, it will keep you healthy and give you a long life!

DebbbbbieDoooooo- LOL- I am working this morning and needed a good laugh- a REAL good laugh---and I got it here! That craft reminds me of the old saying..."Gone but not forgotten". Of course, I think they were talking about someone's demise but this kind of fits that category.

However, I take exception to your factual statement saying you are not crafty. Anyone that can spray paint, Modgepodge, embellish a lamp, make a wreath and glaze furniture is certainly crafty! And...you are "crafty" enough to write a good enough blog to get us all reading it....hmmmm...or would that be sly? Crafty? Sly? hmmmm

Have a great Saturday. Wish I were home blogging instead of working-shhhhh...no one knows I am here- Hugs- Diana

Ok, I would love to say it was OK (Like the one comment that obviously did not read the post), but I just can't. I did not know that hot glue did not work on styrofoam. I bet spray adhesive would have worked and saved you 45 minutes of you life. Of course, in the end it would not have looked any better LOL

Well Debbie, you get an A+ for effort. I do see the possibilities here though! I called my aunt, who used to work for a florist in Vegas, and asked for some tips. She suggested painting the if it was white. Then she said to use U shaped floral pins (you can buy them or make them yourself using heavy gauge floral wire). You pin the stuff in place, then when you like the placement, pull the pin and add a bit of glue to the pin, then they never push out. As someone else said, Gorilla glue works like magic and sticks to everything! I think this had potential, you were on the right track!
