Well this sure was special!

http://www.amerheritage.com/merchimages/christmas/enesco/bigNativity.jpg

If you have been reading my blog for a while you know about the reconnection of Mike and his Dad after 17-18 years.  It has been wonderful and honestly I feel like he has always been in our lives.
After meeting him and getting to know him, genetics cannot be denied, and to quote Paul ( Mike's DAD) "that's a good thing".
Well getting to my post
His lovely wife Donna has been an added bonus to our lives.  I could not ask for another better Mother in law.  I enjoy her company, her wit, and her kind, kindred nature.  Donna recently asked me if I would like to have a Nativity set.  It was not only made by her, but she had given it to her MOM, who enjoyed it for many years.
Since her Mom has passed the set went back to Donna and has been in their basement since.
For one thing, I do not have a nativity set, and for two, everyone seems to know where to call when they want to give something special away. US!!.
I would take any and all of them, but unless someone is willing to give us a new home of sentiment, than I can't do it anymore.
SO Donna this was the last of many special things given to us.
I say that now, until someone asks again.  I just adore everything of sentiment. Thank you:)

I set up the scene,  and Donna was kind enough to send us pictures of how her Mom had it. It is gorgeous and all hand made. In fact Donna won awards for this back in the day.   And hey give Donna lots of KUDOS for this, I am sure she is happy to see it.
Although, not displayed like her Moms on a FP, I did find a nice safe place for it, and we can enjoy it just the same.
When sitting on the couch, the table I put the Nativity  on is within perfect view. Every one who has come in the house has noticed it.

I just love it, I tried to get some close ups but because of the sun and the glare they did not turn out.

This picture was taken from the loft area. I get to enjoy this nativity from up above!

Thank you Donna! We will treasure it for years to come!

Those look beautiful!

My mom made a Nativity set for both of my grandparents and herself before I was born. I LOVE them and am hoping to get one of my grandparent's sets one day so I can finally have a Nativity set.

How so special Deb, I love it. My Mom carved each of us kids (3) a nativity set and it took her a whole year for each one and it is my very very favorite thing at Christmas.

Oh I love that! I also have one that Dan's Mom made for us years ago. I chose a new one this year and did not display hers. Those are beautiful pieces, she did a lovely job on them! I love the sun beaming down in the picture, what a beautiful moment!
I'm glad for you both that there has been a reunion with his father, I don't know the story, but life is short and things like this are wonderful to see and hear about! Merry Christmas, Liz

I am glad that I found the perfect family member to give this nativity set to, someone who will cherish it as much as my Mom did.
I made it in ceramics in 1977 and the style is call Copenhagen and it took over a year to finish. My teacher took it to a show and I won first prize
