Chalk paint, terra cotta pots, MUMS the word!
I always feel like
because I have so many times before.
(bought my first MUM of the season)
So......today, I was thinking more about our backyard retreat and all the color I want to add.
I have a can of Annie Sloan Provence chalk paint that I have been dying to dig into.
So I decided to make my own pot instead of paying 50.00 for something fancy with flair.
It really was so simple to paint the terra cotta.
The Annie sloan chalk paint went on like butter.
Dried fast as usual. I have so many pretty stencils on hand I thought I would stencil a design on the pot as well.
I was achieving a weathered old look...
so I sanded the heck out of it.
Gosh,
the sanding is the toughest part of these jobs!
I sweat like a dickens!
In fact from what I am told about Annie's paint, that using it for outdoor projects is just as wonderful. It will take on a more weathered effect over time.
This is the stencil and paint I used..
Check out hobby lobby. They have a large selection to choose from. I can't wait to go check out their new stencils for Fall. Hopefully they will have some.
Thanks for stopping over!
Don't forget about my NEWBIE party
HERE, and also the burlap giveaway.

I am loving the chalk paint at the terracotta pots. That is a beautiful idea. I cannot wait to do that this fall (When it is much cooler out) lol. I am just thinking what beautiful gifts they would make as well. Love it! The paintings and special gift from Laurie is just priceless. What a fabulous blogland friend.

I love the pots! You are so far ahead me outdoors! It's so hot here, I've been staying inside! What a treat to get such a wonderful gift!
Debbie
This turned out beautifully, Debbie. I love it!
Laurie's artwork is fantastic.
Those water colors are beautiful, lucky lady... And I'm loving the painted pots... I was just out watering and told Tia it's just about time to rip out the flowers and put mums out....
I'm guessing another trip to H.L. will be in order this week. Those roosters need to be displayed in a frame. They are wonderful. And don't think for a second I'm not going to be PINNING that mason jar with your silver. I have to also give that chalk paint a good try. What an absolutely fun filled posting this was.
One more week or two for MUMs here, oh, how do I say Boo-Hoo,
Kate

Love it!!! I really think chalk paint is one of my new favorite things and I need to look into some for a few of my wedding details...love the finish! Plus, I could do that on some terra cotta pots, like you did to create the looks I want...thanks, Debbie!
Liesl :)
Thanks for sharing another use for our chalk paint. It will be interesting to see how it "weathers". It looks wonderful!
Loving the mum pots, all the sweating was worth it:) The picture of the dog low on your wall cracks me up. You are so lucky to have received the rooster items, they are great.
That looks so fantastic Debbie! I love the tone of that color over the terra cotta and it totally looks like something that would cost way more. Your outdoor area is really looking gorgeous! :-)

I love it! so pretty. I love mums too. They are so pretty for the fall time.
Beautiful and I love the color. Great job!!
Your pots look great! I painted some small ones to hang on an old shutter and love them! This paint is great on clay pots - I think it is my favorite thing to use it on. And I have decided I really enjoy smaller projects with the chalk paint. Don't know why but it just seems to work better for me.
What a sweet and thoughtful gift from Laurie! Heading over to her site now. Thanks so much for sharing :)
The flower pot turned out great!!! We built a pergola this year and next year I'm hoping to go all out in the decor department...Thanks for a great idea :)
Love the terracotta pot with it's new paint! My boys, when they were young, painted and stenciled a terracotta pot for their Grandmother and she still uses it. It is very special to her. Can't wait to get some fall color on my porch!

Great idea! Never thought to do that. Looks like a piece from a gardening store I would want to go home with - but would be too pricey.
Turned out great, as usual you are so clever. Hugs, Ginger
