Moorish style? and Fall mantel {Newbie party started}

Moorish style? and also sharing my simple Fall mantel.  So the story goes something like this.
When I brought my new coffee table home,
Mike exclaimed the style to be Moorish.
Me, the decorator, creative one, said
"What is that"?
duh, we have splashes of it here and there, so I should know.
I just always refer to everything as eclectic.
Let me show you Moorish style first.

Ok, so before you fall over when I am about to tell you how much I paid for this, please keep in mind, we did NOT need a new coffee table.

Ok, you get the drift of Moorish style now.
No doubt we have some of these elements in our home.
I just loved my new  coffee table and for $35.00, it was coming home with me.

There was one slight problem though.  The top was shiny, although distressed and a tad chippy, it was still shiny.  Shiny and boys do not mix.  So what was I to do?
I know...

I will take a heavy grip sandpaper and rough it up.
Rough it up real good, and then throw three coats of satin poly on it.
So, that is what I did......

Now, no worries.

I may as well show you the mantel while I am at it...
Notice the cute burlap pumpkin bag? That was sent to the boys from my dear blogging friend Pat,
so very thoughtful. They can certainly filler up with all the candy they got this year! I have been raiding their reese cups!
YUM, my favorite.

Just a touch of Fall, pumpkins, acorns, and my wood pallet sign.
Note, I moved the clock over, NOTE, Mike not happy!

Thanks for stopping by for your sweet visits.

Have a great day!
XO

Great price for such a cool table!
It is exotic, but I'm guessing the Far East, possibly China or Korea.....

Mike is right. It is "moorish", but then don't ask me I've been lost with Claire and Jamie Frasier all afternoon, deep in the OUTLANDER series of Scotland. But, it is perfect and I do adore that rug below. You didn't think I saw that...Oh, yeah, I did and I'm digging it bad. Have fun with the newbies this week. I'll be back to check them all out.

I think the table is perfect for your space! I love the rug too. I need a rug in my living area...just haven't really looked for one yet. I was waiting for cooler weather but I believe it's here.

Your mantle looks great ~ and the picture of the room looks so warm and cozy.

That table is a fun find, toots~ I especially like the little embellishments in the corners! Good idea to rough up the finish. My smooth tabletops NEVER stay smooth and unblemished. I may have to paint my dark tables in the sunroom. They are looking a little bad! ASCP to the rescue, I guess.

What a beautiful home you have! I like your idea of distressing your coffee table. I have a family of three son's all grown up and moved away now. I had thick pieces of glass cut for all of my tables and end tables. It's the only way I could get through those teenage years :>)

what a neat piece! that hardware on the corners are great details. the one time i went to an auction, there were 2 really small plant stand-like tables that i liked, that had the moorish design. i was all set to bid on them, but they started off at 100 bucks. not a minute before a rocking chair sold for 5 bucks. what the heck, lol!
