Moorish style? and also sharing my simple Fall mantel. So the story goes something like this.
When I brought my new coffee table home,
Mike exclaimed the style to be Moorish.
Me, the decorator, creative one, said
"What is that"?
duh, we have splashes of it here and there, so I should know.
I just always refer to everything as eclectic.
Let me show you Moorish style first.
Ok, so before you fall over when I am about to tell you how much I paid for this, please keep in mind, we did NOT need a new coffee table.
Ok, you get the drift of Moorish style now.
No doubt we have some of these elements in our home.
I just loved my new coffee table and for $35.00, it was coming home with me.
There was one slight problem though. The top was shiny, although distressed and a tad chippy, it was still shiny. Shiny and boys do not mix. So what was I to do?
I know...
I will take a heavy grip sandpaper and rough it up.
Rough it up real good, and then throw three coats of satin poly on it.
So, that is what I did......
Now, no worries.
I may as well show you the mantel while I am at it...
Notice the cute burlap pumpkin bag? That was sent to the boys from my dear blogging friend
Pat,
so very thoughtful. They can certainly filler up with all the candy they got this year! I have been raiding their reese cups!
YUM, my favorite.
Just a touch of Fall, pumpkins, acorns, and my wood pallet sign.
Note, I moved the clock over, NOTE, Mike not happy!
Thanks for stopping by for your sweet visits.
Have a great day!
XO

Whoa...that's a fantastic coffee table and for the price, it's a steal. I'm love the table too!
Great price for such a cool table!
It is exotic, but I'm guessing the Far East, possibly China or Korea.....
Rose
Mike is right. It is "moorish", but then don't ask me I've been lost with Claire and Jamie Frasier all afternoon, deep in the OUTLANDER series of Scotland. But, it is perfect and I do adore that rug below. You didn't think I saw that...Oh, yeah, I did and I'm digging it bad. Have fun with the newbies this week. I'll be back to check them all out.
I think the table is perfect for your space! I love the rug too. I need a rug in my living area...just haven't really looked for one yet. I was waiting for cooler weather but I believe it's here.
Your mantle looks great ~ and the picture of the room looks so warm and cozy.

Wow Debbie - Love the coffee table!! What a score for $35! And I love the pumpkins on the mantle on the brass candlestick! So simple but amazingly cute! Thanks for hosting!
I forgot to say that I hope the boys don't say bad words about me when they start clearing the leaves! :-) I'm sorry I didn't get the other things in the mail ~ so much going on around here.

Hey, at least the clock didn't move so far over it landed on the floor. Actually, I love that clock!!! I like the new coffee table and yes, I always thought you had a Moorish decor style going on there. You have some red lights/lamps they are very Moorish.

I'd have taken that unique looking table home and done the same thing you did... Just love the legs on it, like no other coffee table I have seen. Great find!
Hi Debbie, your Morrish table is very distinctive and I like that it nearly has feet. olive

Don't laugh, but I couldn't find the burlap bag. I kept looking on the mantel. When I finally saw it, I was like DUH! How did I ever miss that huge thing? hehehe
I had never realized that was Moorish style. Love that coffee table.

I never knew what Moorish style was until now. You really do have some of that in your house! I think that coffee table looks wonderful in your family room. The style fits your room perfectly. I like how you distressed it too. You keep me laughing about how much your husband gets peeved when you move his clock! Ha!
Love the coffee table!
That table fits in so well. It really compliments the rug, the feel & the vibe of the room ;) Nice score! He He. You moved the clock. That made me LOL! But then, I am rotten ;)
I have never heard of Moorish in my life. I like the amount of distressing on the top along with the decorative corners. Great score for $35.
Your new coffee table looks fabulous. I like it so much better all distressed. Beautiful. Your mantel is wonderful too. Such a lovely room and so inviting. Hugs, Marty
Great job on the table, you always do such an awesome job with crafts. Love the look! : )..
The table is fabulous! I am starting to think that with all of your creativity you are going to need an antiques booth really soon to put all of your creations in
Carol
OMG! I can't BELIEVE you moved the clock! And that you lived to blog about it! I love the mantle AND your Moorish table. I think it is great in that room..and perfect with boys! xo Diana

Nice job on the coffee table Debbie. Love the Thanksgiving mantel.
Your coffee table looks awesome!! I did notice the pumpkin burlap sack and was going to ask about that:D I love it!
Those are the coolest legs on that baby, and hey love your header with the family picture, very cool. brought mom home tonight from hospital...it's a good day

Love the shape of your new coffee table! Gorgeous piece! I hear you about keeping up shiny with boys in the house. It looks great roughed up! Thanks for sharing and for hosting this newbie party each week. I love meeting new bloggers.
Love your new coffee table...And your fireplace screen is awesome!
I love your coffee table. I'm such a sucker for unique items. Thanks so much for hosting =)
I love your coffee table! You did just the right amount of "roughing it up"! Your Fall mantel is awesome too! I love it all!
Wow! I LOVE your coffee table. What great details! And your mantle is gorgeous!!!!
This will be my last time linking up. I've graduated from your Newbie Party. :( Thank you so much for hosting this wonderful party for bloggers just starting out. I have met so many great ladies and have been beyond inspired over these last 6 months. Thank you for being such a fabulous host!!
What a fabulous table! So unique. Love it!
Love the coffee table! Thanks for hosting!
That table is a fun find, toots~ I especially like the little embellishments in the corners! Good idea to rough up the finish. My smooth tabletops NEVER stay smooth and unblemished. I may have to paint my dark tables in the sunroom. They are looking a little bad! ASCP to the rescue, I guess.
What a beautiful home you have! I like your idea of distressing your coffee table. I have a family of three son's all grown up and moved away now. I had thick pieces of glass cut for all of my tables and end tables. It's the only way I could get through those teenage years :>)
Debbie,
I featured you today on my new facebook page. Here's the link:

What a great table Debbie and it looks beautiful in your home! Your mantel looks so pretty, I love the vine you have draped across the front. Martina
what a neat piece! that hardware on the corners are great details. the one time i went to an auction, there were 2 really small plant stand-like tables that i liked, that had the moorish design. i was all set to bid on them, but they started off at 100 bucks. not a minute before a rocking chair sold for 5 bucks. what the heck, lol!
Your table and mantle are to die for! Everything looks so cozy. Thanks for the linky party.
Thanks for Hosting!! Great coffee table, for that price it would have come home with me too!!
